This song is supposed to break your heart. Diana Krall has matured as a jazz singer to be able to sing this song with her marvelous smoky vocal style, but this rendition doesn't quite get there. (It's okay, but the wistful & painful memories of a lost love just don't cut thru deep enough.) P.S. Her "The Look of Love" album is a masterpiece. My absolute favorite album by any contemporary female jazz vocalist. Inspired by her stellar vocal performances, the instrumentalists laid down the perfect tracks to back up her lead. ( I used to practice my drum playing to this album. It's got so many great songs, melodies and rhythms on it.)

The "Choral Fantasia," a symphonic choral masterpiece by Holst, written 13 years after the "Hymn of Jesus," is likely his final composition utilizing an orchestra (he passed away in 1934). From minute 06:13 begins what I consider the true "moment of grace" in this piece, later reprised in the delicate concluding passages. This piece, like numerous others by Holst, is in my heart!
