So after it was all said and done, did your 8" extension cause anything to not work. I have an L4200 with the same fitment problem as yours does/did.

I noticed you showed and talked about a smoke tube on the 2500. Do you really need the tube? Doesn’t the 2500 create enough smoke?

In my limited experience on the 2500 over 225 it needs help. I will run 1 or 2 smoke tubes depending on how much meat I am cooking

If you coat the outside with spray on bed liner or anything rubberized it will make it much quieter. Also try pea gravel as a media or river stone that may work too. Great Idea! If it could be slowed down that would help too.

the carbon on those brass tubes doesn't come off super reliably with corncob bits, I like a vibratory tumber and steel pins, gets the boom button hole cleaned well

We have same stove, however when we shut damper it smothers itself out. We have to stick a tiny screwdriver in back air intake for it to work. Any idea what could be wrong with it. Factory refers us to supplier which says are wood is to dry.

I have never had a problem with it dieing out. If anything mine runs a bit hot. I would make sure your ceramic box with the catalytic in it does not have clogged holes at the bottom.

The entire piece will be glass hard and brittle. Looks like you forgot to temper any part of it. It will be too brittle around the eye and will surely break.

Not many beginners have a power hammer. Would be better if you did it all with hand tools.

  • @TylerSnyder305

I would have given it a much deeper eye. Shallow eyed axes and hatchets ( like the Hudson bay pattern ) are known for loosening up over time because you have heel that is extended beyond the eye and eventually resulting in rocking the head up and down during use. That's probably going to be even worse with a pickaroon and it's curved hook. I think the best way to make this would have been to start with a Vaughan & Bushnell half hatchet. Thee eye is better, the hatchet bit is already there, and they use an excellent 1080 steel so you know what the steel is and you know it's a good steel.
