Hey my name is Jon. My current project/summer vehicles are my AP2 2004 Honda S2000 and NA1 Acura NSX! I'll be creating content with both cars on various modifications and maintenance. I've previously owned a 2007 Subaru Legacy GT wagon and a 2008 Mazdaspeed3 which you'll find some content as well!

Project S2000: Craftsquare Mirrors Repair and Install

A bit of a project restoring a rough set of Craftsquare mirrors for the S2000 but excited to have them on the car as they offer way more visibility compared to the previous Ballade Sports mirrors. It'll be interesting to test out the new clear coating from Cerakote thanks to the guys at Black Box Automotive. Also bonus points for anyone that can spot what's wrong with the mirrors haha.

As mentioned in the previous Advan wheel video, I'll be revealing my actual new track wheels for the S2000. These were considered to be holy grail wheels for me in regards to track wheels so really stoked to have found a set. These are the rare Evasive spec in 17x10 et50 Volk Racing CE28s! I can't wait to get tires on them and see how they actually sit on the S2000!

You can order them through ICB Motorsports directly. I went through my parts supplier First Gear Project and they ended up getting a better deal for me though depending on where you're located

Yes, for stock suspension on s2k. 🙏🏼
I unfortunately don't but you might be able to find some else online via S2Ki. From what I remember, on stock suspension it should be pretty flush with the edges of the fender

Finally someone with a TC4 review and mount on the s2k at least, even if it didn’t last long and isn’t gonna be ran lol 😅 I just want to ask, you’re saying that spec on the TC4 will fit the stock height fitment? Also , I have an ap1.
Sad thing is the replacement wheels for these I didn't even run either because I got the opportunity to jump on a dream set of wheels. Yeah at stock height they will "fit" but would likely poke out. If you're not planning on doing any lowering, I'd go with something more conservative like a 17x9 et63

Unfortunately the speedometer I bought ended up being defective so I have my USDM installed again. Where are you located?

Damn this is awesome. I wouldn’t get the CR tonneau cover with the amuse top it could limit your view in the rear and you essentially have an expensive mugen top
That's a pretty good point! I'm potentially just thinking of going with a half cage and deleting the soft top

Love the wheels, I have the same in white. Did you have to deal with re tightening the torque in the lug nuts for a few days ? The lugs don’t hold if under torqued. ?
I typically will do a retorque after 100kms of driving but typically don't have any issues with the lugs backing off. What lug nuts are you using?
@@jonyrho not sure what they’re called but they’re some pretty strong forged steel lug nuts with the special multi hex key
Maybe to a quick clean off the lug nut there and the studs to get off any potential oil or lubricant
Congrats on the Hardtop ! I've also got a genuine Amuse (now R1) Hardtop and just today started working on it. On my Hardtop I had to remove the rear Softtop moulding as for some reason it sits on top of it and has a huge gap to the body. Mine also looks very hazy hopefully a polish will take a care of it.
A friend actually sent me your post on the Facebook group! I haven't test fit mine yet but will soon to see if I have a similar issue. It's unfortunate that we spent a sizeable amount of money to face an issue like that :'(
@@jonyrho Yes its unfortunate, I initially wanted to get a Mugen Hardtop but that was right around that time when they were discontinued, so the Amuse was my second choice. Its still the best authentic Hardtop you can get imo.

Love your videos! I didn't even know this hardtop even existed. I would definitely prep it and get it cleared for protection. As for the inside I would definitely have it finished and cleared also for aesthetics. I bought my OEM hardtop for $6k usd several months ago in Berlin Black and it seems like the prices only keep going up. I love the OEM rear window too so I went OEM. I was close to getting a double sided CF Mugen hardtop but those are going for $10k. I'm excited to see what you do with it in the future and good luck!
Appreciate the kind words! Yeah it's a fairly uncommon route so lots of people don't know about it. The going rate for an OEM top here is between 8-9k CAD. CF Mugen is an amazing option but still can't beat OEM visibility.

if you have a motorcycle drain pan and are skinny. You can do this without lifting the car,
Probably at stock height! Can't imagine doing this on my current s2000 without lifting it lol

Where did you get that front badge?
It's a sticker that was put on by the previous owner. I think it might have been done by a local shop but it's an S600 style badge
Same like SRS R60 for FN 2 in low rpm it got normal sound level and with speed it comes alive. 👍

New Craftsquares come in black bases. Pretty certain you mounted the mirrors backwards, and forgot the rubber gasket as well
Good catch! I realized I mounted them backwards when I was finalizing the mirror positions. Rubber gaskets were installed but I didn't show the entire process. Didn't know the new ones come with black bases now though
@@jonyrho Only know because I wanted to change my current Craftsquares with ones with blue lenses and the website says it comes with black bases. It came in last week but not keen getting my hand up the speaker hole to undo the nuts

Great video. Thanks. Two things I learned ( the hard way ). Make sure you connect the blue antenna adapter wire to whatever blue wire is coming off the radio. Also, those plastic trim removal tools are invaluable for getting that upper vent cover off.
True! I used to have a set of plastic trim removal tools and it makes the job a lot easier!
What about the steering wheel controls for volume and different modes? Does your CRV not have that?

Great question! I had initially thought about running my previous Voltex diffuser but ended up trading a friend for some other work. The ASM option doesn't really look that great in my opinion so might stay diffuser less for now and see what I end up deciding later down the line
How do you use rear tow hook/strap with this bumper?
Factory one can't be used unless you drill a hole through the bumper. I plan on using a custom tow strap set up. ASM does make a tow for the rear bumper that mounts onto the JDM crashbar too
I have the j’s racing rear bumper along with the front as well, this would be my second option if I didn’t get the js

Thank you! It's a Canyon Spectral 125! I find a lot of car guys are also into some kind of more extreme sport such as mountain biking, skateboarding, skiing that we did before we got our own cars

Honestly, I probably wouldn't now since there's issues with the muffler section inners with their weld. Sound wise it was quite good with little to no drone. I would support better companies than Ballade Sports imo

Fenders were already flat rolled for my previous wheels and rear fender tab relocated

When I was in Japan last year I asked and he said due to the increased costs from BBS, there wasn't any plan. I'm sure if enough interest was there, it might be reconsidered!

From where did you get your Helmholtz resonator ? I've bought the same ASM 70mm early version and want to add one.
I got it built from a local fabricator. I had used my old Ballade Sports exhaust as a template for the Helmholtz resonator

Yes reassembly should be the reverse of the steps at the beginning so the #8 connector would be plugged in again
Question, my existing radio has an anti-theft red light on the upper left side. If I replace it with a carplay headunit would it work?
I believe it's just an indicator but system should still work

Sold this car back towards the end of 2021. I owned it for 4 years and put on around 160k kms or 100k miles.
Looks so easy...
It's a bit more complicated with the rear fuel system getting in the way on the drivers side but overall not bad
