I used to shop there. Better than Pueblo.
I still do.. I agree with you. Grumpy
As someone interested in moving to St. Thomas, I really appreciate your videos. Please keep them coming! Would love to see more of what it's like living there.
That's my goal. Thank you for your comment. Hope to see you again soon. Grumpy
Love the old black-and-white footage. Thanks for including. Nice to see some history.
I try.. Thank you for your comment..
It was not a hurricane in St. Thomas. It was a tropical storm. I right there.
Sending a special thanks to the men and women working at magens for the support xtraordinary work they did making that beach as pristine as it is!
I'll be sure I pass your comment on to the Magens folks. I'm sure they will appreciate your kind words of thanks. Grumpy
❤❤❤❤
Still beautiful even after a hurricaneThank you for the video.
And thank you for your watching and kind words. Grumpy
It’s clean like it was before the tropical storm because it was not a hurricane.
What is that last outlook point called? We didn't go there when we were there last year. I assume the taxis would take you there?
Spent 1 year in StThomas years ago😊. Hope Ernesto did not do too much damage
We lucky man DEH storm did not develop into a cat 1 or 2. Nice video Cisterns are full now

Thank you for this footage…narrow road but not entirely impassable!! Common courtesy here!! Quite hilly there so stay safe!!
You're very brave, that first bit of road looks particularly treacherous to drive under such conditions. The downtown area is extremely pretty, even after a tropical storm and in that weather! 💗Stay safe and thank you for posting this!
No matter the storm. VI Massive. Rock City.. The Rock. One Love Eh.
Is the electricity back on for most?
WAPA just came back on at 7:PM here at the house. Been out since Tuesday evening. Broadband still out so can't upload new video on Magen's Bay Beach. Hope for tomorrow..

You ran so many stop signs my gawd. You just gave me a headache
I used to go out and check the island, but not anymore. I stayed home. Thanks for your video I live here, and it was pretty rough but not bad compared to Irma and Maria. Thanks
That’s a lot of roadway water! Did the electricity and phone access get back on yet? Are there a lot of. mosquitos?
Beautiful landscape stunning view very beautiful country
island part of the U.S
Not much damage
Yep, thankfully, mostly a bunch of water comming from everywhere. Lots of folks think it was similar to Maria, just after Irma. Irma was mostly wind and then Maria came right after with hugh rains. Now if WAPA can just get Feeder 7a up and running.. Right?
Gorgeous view of landscape n ocean!!
Thank you for posting. ❤
I thought it said you were in St. Thomas? Why are folks driving on the wrong side of the road.
We drive on the left.
We do not drive on “WRONG” side of the road.
I just learned myself that the VI is the only place in the US that drives on the left, but with left-hand drive vehicles!
@@ndear2955Yea we are very special 😅😅😅and we thought everyone else was on the wrong side
Smh! What about St Croix? My sons ran to Aruba last Monday with the Catamaran! Still have to check on the house in St Croix
Nice video, thanks and greetings from Jamaica.
Thanks for posting this video! I was wondering how the Virgin Islands faired. Prayers and much love from Florida! 🙏🏾 🌀 🤯
Nicely done Mr. GoGrumpy! Hope everyone is safe on St. Thomas. Are you going to take more footage and post it soon? Are you in a convertible with a camera on your head while you film this?
It’s very Wierd that some white guy thinks he knows our island !
Hello again and thank you for the opertunity to interact. Yep, I as you say, was a white boy of 15 when we moved here in 1965. Among a hand full of jobs over the years I worked for Antilies Air Boats as an apprentice mechanic. Daily News as Circ Mgr and started the Source online publication, which you may know, just to name a few. Funny thing.. Growing up and raising children here we really never thought of ourselves as white or non. It was always a small community. We all lived together, respected each other and got along just fine. If you live here on St Thomas, there's a pretty good chance you or your family knows me or my family members. My wife (or should I say Ex-wife) was one of the first employees at CostUless when they first opened at the original location, back in the day. My sister, now retired was the airport manager for years. My brother in-law, now retired was the chief at the airport "crash house" fire station. My other sister worked with Head Start. My mother worked as a nurse at the old Knud Hansen Hospital and then in her later years for Human Resources at the Employment office.. I'd be happy to meet you and share some stories and a pate at Jackies.. I'm always interested in learning from people who are, in- the-know of our island, just like you. Please be sure to keep watching the channel and I'll do my best to listen and learn. Hope you and your family stay safe and dry, if Ernesto visits us tomorrow. If your're out and about, perhaps you'll see me trying to get my propane tank filled at Antillies and getting some footage.. Just watch for the old white mon... Grumpy
For some of the best hikes perseverance is unbeatable! Better than Santa Maria even Also there’s a short one to ABI bay but if you go though you can hike all the way to oculus bay It’s sad most people don’t know where all these places are with all the technology in their hands !
The path to Hendrix is easy to find also there are caves there to swim to Also I forgot west caret bay which has a spectacular hike Additionally you should try mail bay

That’s an ok beach Hendrix bay is much more secluded Also sandy bay ( best beach in st Thomas ) If you can get to Sunsi bay that good too Other beaches to explore that are very secluded but difficult to get to sometimes are stumpy bay Bordeaux bay And tutu
Thanks for your feed-back. The video was based on my my opinion. Been going to Neltjeberg for over 50 years now and it still stands out to me. I go down to Magen's most mornings for a walk and swim. Great way to start the day. By the way, you may already know it's free if you go before 7am. We locals also can get a deep-discounted anytime pass. I used to go to Stumpy often. Great for a beach dive. A good spearfishing site too. The beach is a preety rocky though for my taste. Yes, we are lucky to have so many great beach options. However, at the moment I'm getting the house ready for Ernesto's arrival tomorrow. It seems to be tracking very similar to Marilyn back in-the-day. Right between STT and STX. And that was supposed to be just a Trropical Storm too. Yep, lost the house in that one. One thing about when a heavy storm does hit, folks are tripping over themselves to go out of their way to help anyone and everyone PERIOD! Just filled up my generator tanks and the car. I'm ready. Be sure to check back soon.. Grumpy
Best Goat Water😋😋😋
Where at on the 🏝️ island ?
Right on the side of the road that parallels the airport runway on the south or Lindbergh Bay side. You'll pass it going to or from the airport. White Step-Van Food Truck with large white awning attached. Be sure to say hello to Anna who's usually helping folks at the counter and is pictured in the video.. Great food, Great people. Go early and get in line.
Ok yeah I’ve seen you on my way to the windward from the airport Got it , thank you!!!!!!
How about the chicken that roam around? Or the iguana 🦎....
He gave me an autograph
I was there
Is there buses that goes around to those beaches ?
Used to be a great beach until they started doing jeep tours. Now you can't even get to park anymore because it's always overcrowded! Sad that locals can't have anything to themselves anymore 😢
Yep, I remeber going down with the dogs and horses more than 50 years ago. Up until just a few years back there were always week-end "makeshift shanties" popping up, only to be blown down in the next storm.
We saw these also in St. Croix while visiting Point Udall.
Looks like Costco
Why would you give directions to one of the best local beaches? You’re the problem.
I do understand your question and comment. The short answer to your "why", is I want folks to love our island as I do. As I mentioned in a response to an earlier comment. If I could have, I would have kept my island home the same as we found it when we first moved here in 1965. Back in the day we had a few cruise ships durring the season with mostly 500-700 passengers each. No cable TV or internet, the local station went to the test pattern around 10:pm. Magens was free. A Rum and Coke with a fresh Pate was a buck and that was a "Real Man's" drink as Rum was cheaper then Coke. No such thing as traffic (we only had a few (sometimes working) traffic lights on the entire island), and it was common to see folks still riding donkeys. It was also common for WAPA to be out for days at a time. When we ran short of water there were Public Cisterns and a line. We all knew VooDoo Beach and why you'd see a dead chicken hanging above a door. Somehow we all got along together and if you ever needed help there was never a lack of smiling faces and offers to lend a hand. We slept on the beach and went to the The Crazy Cow in town for the best hamburger after dark without any fear for our safety.. All that said, it's still my home and favorite place to be.. Hope its the same with you.. Welcome home.. Grumpy
How long have you been living in the USVI?
We originaly moved to St Thomas when I was 15 back in 1965.. It's always amazing to me how much has changed, and then again how much hasn't.
@@GoGrumpy We began visiting the islands in 2016 I think. All of them are beautiful. Haven’t been to water island yet. That drive looked treacherous to me and we’ve been in the rainforest on St. Croix and driven to maho bay on St. John. Those hook turns scared the hell out of me. But we made them. I tried to get my husband to turn around but luckily he ignored me.
I like “driving” on St. Thomas without having to think about staying on the left side of the road. ❤❤❤Thanks for the ride.
Thank you for your comment. Look forward to riding with ya again soon..
