You are so right, Rimas. You are better off to stay in Lithuania. You’ll always be seen as a foreigner and will never fit in. It’s even worse for brown people and they should definitely stay home. At least you’re not Polish and living in Slough…they despise them even more than the Indo-Paks. All has something to do with the Polish Air Force and the bombing of Coventry….I've never exactly understood it. But, in any case, probably best to go home.

This illustrates the value of common courtesy. Everyone benefits if people are able to present a face of grace and consideration regardless of how they really feel and so everyone feels better. The converse is the problem of the Internet where people tell total strangers what they really feel so everyone feels worse and worse.

I had a friend in the mid-1980s who was the University-age son of Polish exiles from World War 2. Of course his English was native, and you wouldn't know he was Polish unless he told you. I was visiting him at his home, some of his parents' Polish friends were there speaking in Polish, I didn't understand a word but then I heard one of them (by then in his late 60s) say 'chest infection' in the middle of a stream of Polish, which made me laugh. For the first generation it is probably impossible to feel at home in England, but I hope you feel welcome.

How do domestic pets like dogs and cats cope with -30 C? They I presume are used to being indoors unlike wild animals who are used to it.

People used to have bigger families and be more socially connected with each other. However once the nuclear family started trending people began to become more isolated as their social networks started shrinking. 👍🏻

Appreciate the enthusiasm but best country... LOL. I'm from USA and in Atlanta we are getting a lot of UK people. All they say is how trash it was and how noone does anything about the problems. I know people who live there that absolutely can't wait to leave. Its a good thing if he's coming from Eastern Europe, it's an improvement (not so much these days). Poland is becoming a power because Poles are going back home. There are many great places in the world, but using hyperbole on the UK seems a bit silly 😂

I am English and I live in London. London does not look British anymore. The British have not been having enough babies since the 1970s and are in numerical decline. All population increase is coming from immigrants and their descendants. If I had the money I would leave to avoid the anger I feel at the ongoing loss of my country.

I think it's because the social contract broke down. The older generation (outside of natural progress of technology) has had it better than us in terms of asset ownership (houses), access to benefits such as lower/free tuition and an unsustainable pension scheme we have to pay into. There's also little insults like them supporting conscription for younger people and nimbyism preventing younger people buying houses. I myself have built up a bit of an apathetic attitude to the older generation. I'm not pushing into people or being rude to them in person. But I don't care about their problems because they don't care about mine. I fortunately have a good job but many people don't and in a world where you're trying to survive it's probably harder. Also policing has broken down, I remember going to Tesco with a guy blatantly stealing. I helped hold the thief down and the store person said it's fine to let him go. I asked.. are you sure? and he said yes. After I asked why not just call the police and wait for them to arrest him, he told me the police would do nothing. I don't think this is an issue against foreigners as much as it is just general dissatisfaction, it happens to non foreigners too.

Corner shops were great back in the day when everything was very regulated, they'd be run by local people you knew, and because of that everything was clean and orderly, but that was the 70s and 80s,now they are just full of junk food and drinks, and the owners certainly are not local

I'm from the Midlands and i can honestly say that anyone i ever encounter basically anyone, for any reason, i will likely have a bit of a chat with them. And i'd say about 75% of the time we'll both be smiling about something by the end. Its abnormally friendly over here, i dont think people the world over realise how easy it is to strike up a conversation with a British person AND for that convo to be jovial :) (There are some miserable fu*kers, but we laugh at them too 😂) Oh and shoving someone at supermarkets? If someone is looking at something i want, i'll do a lap. Get it when its clear :)

Yea corner shops SUCK here too , one local shop caters for teens , vapes , sweets , energy drinks and snacks etc, The other two are now Morrison's mini markets . Not cheap but the quality is good . Lidl and Aldi prices have gone up 50% on many items since Brexit . e.g. Bread was 35p now 75p , Beans were 13p now 28p . Outrageous , Thanks Boris .

One thing I find very funny and a bit sad about Lithuanian people is when they came west they bought the biggest cars. Then used so much money to fuel them. I worked abroad and wanted to bring a good lot of money home to Ireland. I think if I bought a large car abroad then I would have saved very little money.
