Thank you for mentioning and confirming the Sigma MC-21 EF to L adapter doesn’t fit the 85mm. This is the only video I think that mentioned it. I was wondering why it doesn’t fit, glad I didn’t forced it, can’t find articles online either. I had to buy another adapter. Your footages look really good and made me buy this lens because of it. Constructive feedback: your talking head clips need more improvement in lighting. Upping for your algorithm!
@@artofwishing thank you 🙏🏻 yeah really strange, I think the adapter is meant for electronic lenses like sigma not cinema glass. Did you get the other adapter I mentioned? Should work fine and I only use the manual adapter for these lenses!
Mate I have the 4K and have filmed a wedding on and liked it, would you recommend geting the 6k and using the 4K for a bcam? Cheers
100% but I would get the 6K pro with built in ND filters, so much better for weddings. And the price has dropped massively because of the new pyxis release.
Really well made video, Looks Amazing! Would love to do this
@@evanharris3105 thank you 🙏🏻 do it! It was so much fun bmpp4k so small and easy camera to carry up
Can’t hear your voice especially in the beginning over music. And your voice sounds like actively attacked by compressor, drowning syllables.
I think it sounds fine mate and thanks for watching :)
I've known about the Sigmas forever but since i've shot m43 or Sony most of my life i've always slept on them. I A cam a cinema camera with an EF mount now and have invested in a few Canon L lenses but i'm really starting to want a set of the Sigma 18-35 and 50-100 as my shooting requires speed (self-shooting cinematic cooking videos) and messing around with primes just isn't feasible for my workflow. After researching the Sigmas i've arrived at the conclusion they're somewhere between Canon and Zeiss with their colour rendition and character. I'm using mist filters more these days to take the digital sharpness off my L lenses so I assume it should translate to Sigma too
Yes, it should translate to the Sigma lenses. I try and do as much as I can in camera so mist filters are a good option to remove the sharpness :)
Very good video. I am looking for a fast lens for night shoots with my old C100 mk2. Currently have some decent f3.5 and f4 IS lenses - do you think this lens would improve on these?
Thank you for watching! Yes, this is at 2.1 so good in low light and maintains sharpness. Some cheaper lenses that have a really low aperture like 1.8 or even 1.5 sometimes have really soft focus and chromatic aberration so look out for that. Depends on the cameras general low light capabilities and native ISO, these are suppose to be good: store.sirui.com/products/night-walker-t1-2-s35-cine-lens-series?variant=45538352496866
The front USB-C is a 1080p wired output with 2 way OS control (Pyxis monitor only). The SDI/BNC signal out of the back of the camera, to record up to 4K on the VA in ProRes or BRAW. The USB-C on the back of the camera is 6K wired data output for SSD recording, and a wired output for "Cell Phone to Cloud 1080p Proxies" (depends on 'phone) with free app and storage. Over-all, there is also a iPhone and Android Remote "Camera Control" app via Bluetooth - $17 (OS menu only, no visuals). The LAN is the fastest transfer method (no expensive CFexpressB Card Reader needed). Laptop, Browser, Copy and Paste. $5 CAT cable. LAN Cloud and Livestream too.
Thank you for all this information, someone in the comments will find it useful! The USB-C at the front doesn't work for my Atmos Shinobi HDMI but it does work with the Portkeys and Andycine monitors, do you know why? All HD monitors.
@@jarodparkerdirector Blackmagic's viewfinder is taking advantage of the DisplayPort protocol over usb-c. there are plenty of passive adapters/cables that can convert DisplayPort to HDMI (like the one you have), which is why it works as a monitor output. question for you, did you try both HDMI compatibility modes on the shinobi when attempting to use that cable? sometimes that can help. I've also known the shinobi to be notoriously picky about the camera it receives signal from, so that may not be the issue after all.
@@colemowery thanks for your comment and yes I did and it still didn't work. If I'm using the right cable surely that means it's just the Shinobi acting up? Thanks!
@@jarodparkerdirector I think it would be safe to assume that's the case. We were never able to get our shinobi to light up with our fs7, via hdmi or sdi.
@@colemowery SDI as well?? That's strange. Should work with SDI, I know the Shinobi 7inch is 3G SDI not 12G so maybe output a 3G signal on the camera
Amazing!
Thank you so much! What did you think of the film?
@ was really wonderful! I’d be looking forward to more of your stuff in the future!
Thank you so much!
Is this short out yet?
Not yet mate but if you follow @IsaacMoonDirector he'll post it soon I'm sure and I will let you know as well
Great overview! The rig looks great, thank you for sharing!
Thank you! I'm really loving the cage and I get so many people on shoots complement it. For people in the comments who don't know this is Will who made the PYXIS camera cage featured in this video. The link below goes into more detail about the cage. ua-cam.com/video/n4gbD-E1ocM/v-deo.htmlsi=daHQ_qzLjXBs7_eY
may I ask why you do not attach the SSD between the camera body and the battery? There seems to be a convenient space there.
@@daylight5500 it’s a good point and something I’ve tried recently but the SSD is too big (T7) and covers too many important ports. Headphones, usbc, audio, etc. I might try again but rig it horizontal and not vertical
@@jarodparkerdirector 👍
I love that case
It’s a really nice case and strap from SMALLRIG
Those close up cutaways are gorgeous! Implementing that at the next possible chance!!
Ahh mate thank you so much 🙏🏻 literally just my monitor in the background with a UA-cam video
The ultimate Pyxis is a Komodo.
Nice rig. Love the cage. One recommendation I would give. Try mounting your SSD to the back of camera between your V-mount plate and your cheese plate that cover OG battery slot.
Thank you 🙏🏻 only thing is the usb port is at the back and is sometimes awkward and in the way a little
Thanks for sharing your nice build! What’s the bag 00:04?
Thank you so much! It's a really good bag if you want to keep the rig set up and easy to just pull out. Bag link here: uk.tenba.com/shop-collections-cineluxe/
Why not finish the rig? Anyways great video.
The rig is finished, what else am I missing?? And thank you 🙏🏻
I want to know what you think? Do you prefer a smaller, run and gun rig, or a more built up cinema rig? Any questions you have let me know here and I'll answer them the best I can!
Okay I will say great video but an actual lighting breakdown would’ve been better

This movie was infuriating. But in a good way! Honestly impressed with the performances, they were fantastic and I found myself emotionally invested. I was genuinely feeling an emotional rollercoaster watching this, which shows me how good you are at directing. Excellent job
Thank you so much! Really glad you liked it. Did you feel for Charlie at the end? Is he worthy of forgiveness?
@@jarodparkerdirector You know, I personally don't think so, but that's because throughout my life I always valued being able to confide in my friends to keep some things between us. For me, even if there are some things that don't necessarily need to be secretive, having knowledge of something that only I and another person close to me knowing about is very valuable and that's what makes friendships/relationships special to me, so when I saw Charlie blatantly lie back to back, it makes it hard for me to forgive him. Maybe if I was in Phoebe's shoes, I would just try to be friends for a few more months/years to see if there is any change/repentance/remorse. I know that was a longwinded personal response, but that is what this short reminds me of in my life anyway.
No it’s not a long response at all just detailed and clearly personal which is great to hear. Means a lot you actually watched this film and seems you’ve taken something away from it which is ultimately my goal within filmmaking :)
Hey thanks for this video - I appreciate this pairing of camera and lenses in your review. I'm really considering these. The SmallHD monitor has any anamorphic desqueeze mode that you could need.
Hey thank you 🙏🏻 I would really like a SmallHD and if the monitor has all the desqueeze options then that’s great. Very expensive SmallHD but industry standard
Yooooo, congrats on this amazing movie! is there any way to contact you? I was really inspired and would love to ask you some questions about it
Thank you so much! linktr.ee/jarodparkerdirector My Linktree has my WhatsApp or you can find my email on my website
What lenses did you use?
I used the GreatJoy 1.8x anamorphic lens kit seen in this video ua-cam.com/video/Q01bcVA8Db0/v-deo.html
@@jarodparkerdirectorlooks excellent. I've been on the fence about upgrading my FX30 to a BMCC6K. The filmic look is undeniable, especially with an anamorphic.
@imloggedin FX30 does look incredible, have you looked at the new Blackmagic Pyxis 6K? That might be a great option for you?
@@jarodparkerdirector I have. The monitor on the side would ruin it for me. I like the idea of not always having to use an external monitor. Only reason I haven't bought into the Blackmagic system yet is the lack of autofocus because I do need to record myself and move around quite a bit.
@imloggedin if that’s the case I would recommend the FX30 like you said, a lot more robust maybe
Very well done short film, emotionally resonant and a great look from the BMCC and your lighting!
Thank you so much Paul really does mean a lot! Yes, the BMCC6K works great especially with the Greatjoy lenses and it's all in the lighting.
Very realistic performance you pulled out from the actors...one thing I'll tell you is there is a phone convo in the beginning between hero and his friend and that convo doesn't feel right..that call shouldn't be very clear cause he is on the phone and the phone calls doesn't seem clear usually and it is one detail you could have made better, maybe I'm nit picking... But everything good 😊😊🎉
Thank you for letting me know I agree with you. There is sound design used, I used a lowpass filter to make it more digital over the phone and pub ambience in the background to make it more busy.
@@jarodparkerdirector I really suggest you if you are showing a conversation on the phone... Why not record the dialogue on the phone itself... You can add the pub ambience anyways... Or you can actually play the pub sound in the background and make the other call you on the phone and record the voice... It will make it seem realistic....😊
Very good cinematography mate... 🎉
Thank you so much! Do you shoot? What do you shoot on?
@@jarodparkerdirector nah.. but I'm just starting out..im a VFX artist and learning filmmaking and VFX online from UA-cam...but I'll definitely be trying out filmmaking for sure some time in the feature haha 🤞🤞
UA-cam is full of great videos when it comes to filmmaking and learning but I found going out and shooting is the best teacher (as cheesy as that sounds)

What is the fan noise like. Just had to send back the Amran 22c, the noise was crazy loud.
Great question, fan noise on the light is absolutely silent however there is a tiny bit of noise on the light console but is always away from sound mics anyway so not a problem in my experience
