Making 14" Round Wooden Plant Pot 【木工】14寸圓木花盤製作
Переглядів 43 тис.4 роки тому
I made a big round plant pot from a few 2x4s without a lathe. For the plant pot, it's important to have the pot well glued and coated. Make sure no open gaps and put 4 to 6 times of coatings. The pot I made is for flower or small trees, it's not meant to grow any fruit or vegetable on it. Because the coating may release toxic chemicals.

@@andreasvasiliou6453The inner size of the big one is round 9x12 inches. and the small is 5.5 x7.5 inches. I left some room for cutting off the rough edges. So I can choose to leave the rough edges or cut the finished paper down to 8.5x11, 8x10, 5x7 or 4x6 with clean edges.

I used SketchUp to create the model first. Depends on the thickness of the wood and the side of the pot. You can play around the number of segments of a circle in Sketchup, then give it the thickness you want. Then measure the angle from there.

  • @TOEC

I know this is an older video, but while there are a lot of good box/finger joint sled designs out there, I really appreciate this one as it resolves two specific points in sled design that often can get overcomplicated. First, at 0:43, the way the back fence is set up makes it much less work to ensure that the fence is perpendicular to the saw kerf. Instead of having to mess with the 5 cut method etc. which can involve fine adjustments, this design relies on cutting the base of the sled square, and then works from there. Second, at 1:35, using sandpaper or shims in order to ensure that the miter bars are a snug fit before gluing also saves the time and frustration of having to trim a piece of wood several times to get that perfect fit.
