@@mikerauter1859 absolutely agree, it’s too bad he left after The Years of Decay but at least they’ve managed to have good guitarists ever since. Their current lead guitarist Dave Linsk is like a combination of Gary Holt and Alex Skolnick in my opinion

@@byronlemay2166 Lol it’s understandable that someone who’s new to Death would be disturbed by the early albums. Symbolic is a great place to start though and definitely their most accessible album for people who are new to Death or death metal in general

@@mikerauter1859 I appreciate it, and you’re welcome! This song definitely is a frenzy and a lot more challenging than it seems. And I actually don’t mind Flotsam’s more groove era, certain albums I’m not as big on like Drift or Unnatural Selection for instance but I like most of their other 90s and 2000s output. One of my favorites is The Cold even though it has more of the groove influence on it. It’s not the same Flotsam as the first couple albums but it’s their darkest for sure and a lot of the songs speak to me on a personal level. Their three newest albums are all great too, I like them just as much as the early albums

@@mikerauter1859 Sadus is awesome but it might be a while before I try one of their songs because of how technical and intricate they can be. I can give it a try at some point but it’ll probably be a while since I want to do the song justice and not do a half assed version of it. But in the meantime I have most of She Took An Axe down so I’ll be doing that sometime soon

I can give it a try, I have a couple covers I’m working on at the moment and I’m also trying to focus more time on writing. But definitely within the next month or two, maybe sooner. They played that song when I saw them in 2019 and it would be a good challenge to try and learn it

Thanks, I appreciate it as always! And you’re welcome, I’m always down for requests as long as they’re songs that I know I have the ability to play and if it’s a song I actually like of course. But yeah their riffs were insane back then, even more so on Legion which most songs on that album would probably give me a bit more trouble with trying to learn. Maybe one of these days I’ll challenge myself with trying to learn one of those songs

I love Deicide, I can definitely try covering one of their songs at some point. Maybe something off of Once Upon the Cross or Scars of the Crucifix since those are my favorites but I’m open to requests

I appreciate it, and yeah Testament definitely does a good job with incorporating death metal while still actually sounding like Testament. This song along with Fall of Sipledome and Dog Faced Gods were pretty much my gateway into death metal since up until that point I was really only listening to old school thrash. You could hear some of the death metal elements creeping in even on Practice What You Preach where Chuck does a low growl but the elements started showing up more on Low and especially Demonic. Which isn’t exactly everyone’s favorite Testament album but still an enjoyable listen for me lol

@@Austin_QR completely agree, and I love Demonic, and Low with Murphy's superb leads. Eric has such an individual riffing style even if he writes through a death metal filter it still sounds unmistakenly like Testament.
