A scientist/artist turned worldbuilder/storyteller. Whether you like inventing languages, making fantasy maps, or just dreaming up worlds and stories, you're among friends here. This is a space where I document the journey of creating my scifi fantasy adventures, and share what I learn along the way.
The most important thing you can do for your story from a creator who was too close to hers.
Someone, somewhere probably needs to hear this.

The IT Crowd but make it Animal Crossing.
It’s easy as long as you only write in print
Aah, im not sure where to start u know? With my world I just picked sounds from the IPA that sounded somewhat what I wanted it to, made root words and Ill go from there, it will be a proto-lang so I dont really mind if every word doesnt fit the bill. Not sure if I should do more research!? Just unsure how to-
i’m making a conlang for fun based on the sangheili language from halo and these websites really help!!
Song?
This was very helpful as I’m currently hyper fixated on making a conlang. No I haven’t even started yet. I’m thinking though that it might not be based off real language cause it comes from a species that existed was before planet Earth. I’ll have to think on that though; I learned a few things in Spanish that I might consider when doing this.
Mine has to be handwritten and will most likely be unique to each individual. It's alphabetic, phonetic and phonemic. The spoken part I'm not explaining here. 😅
Thanks for sharing this. This’ll be very helpful for me
Is using English and Urdu/Persian fine or is it too different?
how do u even use it?? ive downloaded it but i dont know how to use it??
WHERE IS THE WEBSITE
It has been taken down.
MACEDONIA MENTIONED RAAAAAAAHHHH
Ok good to know 😊
Help I’m trapped in vocabulary expansion hell
My influences is japanese cause i raw-doged making this thing and it (accidentally) made it work like japanese
Me who has been doing this in a notebook and its been taking months
the awkwords page doesn't seem to be working. are there other pages that do similar functions?
What if you have grammatical rules already established that modify words? I think this would make it obsolete
Sanaro! Me xoro bane hamudo qi éiqu. (Thank you! I think I’ll use this someday.)
The Akana servers are down. Is there an alternative?
what if im not making a language for artistic purposes, just for personal uses?
Numbers?

i’ve been following a multi-video tutorial that describes all the steps like diy, but there’re WEBSITES for this????? thank you so much for the resources, I thought everyone just fought their way through the process 🙏🙏🙏
not freian: hi how do you do it freian:etok ca lis losa kel pol koi I do not know how did I make my own word
I try my best to avoid involving AI generator for my conlangs so my creations will be made originally from my head. But looorrd this might help a lot when my brain is fried! Thanks a lot!!
Its down now
@@jamohasjam wait what? When?
@@thehackking4419 idk i saw a reddit post saying the creator has moved on from conlanging and i checked the website to make sure and it was down.. I used it for a language that i donnt remember but im sad its down now
Easy part done now. Now time to learn Greek bc my language is based off that 😍🥰
I personally don’t intentionally take any influence from real life languages because I like the chaos of it, it’s sorta my conlang brand. However I’ve noticed instinctually I insert a lot of Japanese and English influence because those are the languages I speak
By this I don’t mean I don’t use natural constructions, grammar, systems, etc I just don’t think about specific languages that use the. When making my languages
And yes, this creates many unnatural constructions, but the languages still appear mostly natural so its sorta uncanny and that’s my style
Thank you! This is awesome!
How do I get on that generater?
its gone now but you can find alternatives
Tysm omg you’re a lifesaver! I wanted to make my own language for me and my friends, its name is Palonese, and I finally made a vocab system including a phonological system! Here’s a sentence: dátop s’ùtari ipodon awkwords k.l.graywill, psha’nakji! = i used awkwords thanks to k.l.graywill, thank you!
Thanks a lot for this vídeo Now I will can make my own writing system
Wait where did you get dacian from? i cant find any info that isnt the basic about my ancestors at all 😭
This is going to be really helpful for the book I’m planning. Thanks so much for this.
oh thank god, I did NOT want to learn about plate tectonics 😢
Vulgarlang is the only one here I think it’s best to avoid It’s generally avoided by conlangers for a bunch of reasons
What reasons specifically?
n ո guess the difference
maybe make each character look like building or things like trees and etc, so when you write a sentence it would look like a 2D cityscape or forest drawing, that would be cool
I was literally just wondering how the hell I was going to further my current language. I thank you profusely for saving me from a future of many hours spent not knowing where to begin within the process.
Awkwords isnt up anymore and now im lost for one that will let me put multiple letters together as one thing 😭😭
I miss it too :< the only awkwords like alternative is barely functional...
@@Bread_Lock which one?
@@jamohasjam i don't remember exactly what I was talking about, but I do remember finding a github page of a project that aimed to be an Awkwords alternative... But it barely had any of Awkword's features implemented, and it seemed like progress on the project was horribly slow.
It’s down I’m going to pass away.
The fact that Welsh has an influence on your world is amazing, you make me proud to be Welsh. Diolch i chi am eich holl waith
I can't draw 😢😢
What if I just want to make a conlang for artistic purposes (a.k.a. artlangs)? Kinda like the artlang Tsevhu, which has ripples and koi fish for words and grammatical placement, respectively (I'm not sure if you heard of it, but oh well...).
Hmm. I do prefer to make my conlangs myself, as automating the process may suck some naturalism(?) out of it, and also part of the fun. But if you don't really intend to get super deep into lexemes and morphemes and what they mean, or if you feel you have to include conlangs but aren't too thrilled about coming up with words and grammatical rules yourself, it is good that this tool exists. Though I will say, once you come up with a bunch of useful morphemes or particles (negation, plural, superlative, verb conjugations...), there's a point where creating new related words becomes a lot easier! And since you created the rules yourself, they're usually easier to remember. But again, I see how some people might find this useful if they don't really feel like getting in too deep and just want to have the language done a bit more quickly 👍 I mean, my story for example sometimes features secondary conlangs that aren't given much attention, so I do improvise a lot with them. _Sanaro!_ (Thank you!)
Where to read?
You can’t make a font for a’posteriori conlangs.
I am also constructing a language. My current in progress one is Indo-European.
I love stuff like this 😍
Orion's Arm isn't just a sci-fi worldbuilding resource, it's a full-scale 20+ year old collaborative worldbuilding project of its own, spanning present day all the way to 10000+ years into the future.
