The Great Sugar Experiment: What Happens When You Quit Sugar for 30 Days?
Did you know sugar doesn’t just affect your waistline-it rewires your brain?
Cutting out processed added sugar for 30 days can transform your neurochemistry, your focus, and even your mood. In today’s video, we’re diving into what happens to your brain and why giving added sugar the heave ho might be the best thing you ever do for your mental clarity.
When I say sugar, I am not talking whole fruit, dates or raw honey. I’m talking about when you read a label and see numbers in the added sugar category.
Recognize these added sugars hijack our brain’s reward system, leaving us craving more and feeling worse once the reward response is finished.

Can COVID-19 cause iron deficiency?
Переглядів 145Місяць тому
Is low iron a symptom of long Covid? Covid-19 or long Covid can affect iron metabolism. Any time you have a strong inflammatory response, you are increasing the hormone, hepcidin which regulates iron. When hepcidin is high, iron is low. Covid-19 can also affect gut bacteria which can affect iron absorption. #drwholeness #covid19 #irondeficiency ➡️ Get Dr. Matt's free guide to overcoming iron de...

Wow, soooo amazing explanation. Doctors dont say anything. It's just yes or no. It is good to educate patients like this. I want to be able to take care of myself too.
@@Winterheart00 thanks for the feedback. All the best!
It's not an iron deficiency guide, it is a sales pitch. Shame on you.
Did you get the Iron Guide?
@@DrWholeness It looks like a sales pitch to me.
I'm so glad to find this video! I have been struggling with using my inhaler for years because half the time the medicine doesn't dispense. Recently my Doctor mentioned the nebulizer and I'm definitely ordering one! Thank you.
Doesn't supplemental iron cause oxidative and tissue damage? I have low hemoglobin (10.5), but very high iron (212)? What can we do to increase hemoglobin without increasing iron? Some people suggested Rehmannia or Pterostilbene, and they are saying it dramatically improved their hemoglobin💔
@@Abed1sarsur would need to figure out why your hemoglobin is low. Low hemoglobin does not equal low iron.
I like your video on skin VS whole milk but you never mentioned the sugar content in comparison I'm trying to avoid drinking sugars like you recommend, so should I go back to skim milk? Or are whole milk sugars good sugars like in fruit?
They both contain about 12 grams of lactose per serving. But the skim lacking the fat would tend to have greater impact on your blood sugar. I stick with whole.
Thank you! thank you!thank you!

My pleasure Marge! Let’s make it a great 2025. 🎉
We also seem to overlook the bodies inability to process B Vitamins, especially as we age. B12 is particularly troublesome and lack of these nutrients can eventually cascade into iron loss. They need to work synergistically and both should be taken to boost iron levels.
Thank you for this video! My naturopath has started me on Floradix a week ago, twice daily per instructions on the bottle. 10 ml in the am on an empty stomach and then again at night before bed. The bottle says it’s 56% of the daily value per 10 ml. Is it still ok to eat red meat and my grass fed beef liver while taking this supplement? Should I hold off on the liver for now and only eat red meat a few times a week, or is everyday ok? I also take 500 mg. Liposomal vit C in the morning with my first dose. I stay away from any foods/drinks with tannins within 2 hours. I also started on USP Progesterone my last cycle. I know I am peri menopausal with being 44 in a couple months. My cycles are all over the place. Some are short where others like this last one had me bleeding my for 14 days! 😣😑 Started the progesterone, stopped the bleeding for a few days and then I was right back to bleeding again for another week! 🤦🏻♀️ Will continue the progesterone and the iron in hopes that this will definitely help in the long run! I would love nothing more than to heal my hormones naturally. Maybe after I get my iron levels up, I can just focus on an animal based diet to keep things regulated. I pretty much eat an animal based diet as it is. Whole, organic foods. Nothing processed. Have been doing this for a few years now. Not until a couple months ago did my naturopath finally test my iron panel… 😑 I believe I’ve been IDA all my life, only getting C almost 4 years ago made symptoms so much more debilitating and chronic! Love this channel. Glad I found you! ❤
I was taking slow fe 45mg it did help my iron levels but gave me the worst periods ever super heavy with cramps! It’s like the iron I was supplementing came out during my menstrual cycle. I stopped due to this and periods are back to normal. Do all iron supplements do this??
No they shouldn’t! My naturopath has me taking a liquid iron supplement called Floradix. Told me to follow directions on the bottle. 10 ml twice a day on an empty stomach. So I take it first thing in the am with 500 mg. Liposomal vit C supplement to help increase absorption of the iron. Then I take the other 10 ml of iron right before bed. Keep away from Tannin foods/drinks within a 2 hour window of taking your iron. It can greatly inhibit its absorption!
HERE ME OUT. It might cause Iron stain (discolouration) permanently. Ok I have a question. So basically I had anaemia and doctors had me for blood transfusions but after that doctor said why don't you get iron infusion? I said what are the side effects she said just you might feel dizzy etc. SHE DIDN'T MENTION THAT I MIGHT GET DISCOLOURATION!!! after I went home and woke up the next morning, I saw my face and neck was red and it was like I had sun burn. I thought maybe just a reaction. Few days pasted even a month I started to get worried. I did lots of research and got to know that my needle went into the soft tissue which caused my face and neck iron stain WHICH IS RARE and most ppl won't get it. It's been 5 months now and I'm still like that. Plz help me how can I get back to my skin tone?😭 I was white and now I'm orange I swear.
Let's immediately debunk the misinformation in here: 1. Applying sunscreen daily not only slows down photoaging (aging induced light), it also reduces risks of sunburn that can cause mutations in the DNA, that lead to SKIN CANCER. (America has the highest rates of skin cancer that happen annually). 2. Sunscreen doesn't cause an illness and the sun doesn't make it better. Your susceptibility to an illness depends on your genetics (whether your family had an illness). 3. Chemicals are NOT bad. What is dihydrogen monoxide? It's WATER. Water is a chemical (H20), what is natrium chloride? Salt. Salt is a chemical. What else is a chemical? The clothes you wear, the shoes you wear, the food you drink, the tooth paste you use etc. People are CHEMICALS. You have 4 chemical bases in your DNA (Desoxyribonucleic ACID) and the 4 chemical bases(adenine, thymine, guanine, cytosine). 4. Natural doesn't mean better. Arsenic is natural, cyanide is natural, snake venom, scorpion venom, poison ivy etc. 5. There's 0 evidence to prove sunscreen causes cancer or causes lack of vitamin D. You don't apply nearly as much as necessary to block the production of vitamin D. If you want accurate information, check out Dr. Dray, Dr. Daniel Sugai, Dr. Dustin Portella, Dr. Shah and Dr. Maxfield from Doctorly. You can also check out Michelle from Lab Muffin Beauty Science (who's a cosmetic chemist). The funny thing is, wearing sunscreen actually improved the appearance of my skin. I started wearing sunscreen at 19 (I'm 22 now, going to be 23 next year). Before I wore sunscreen, my skin looked dull and tired, ever since I started a skincare routine that included wearing SPF 50 every single day (Yes, 365 days a year), the appearance of my skin improved. My skin feels soft and bouncy. I still go out in the sun, but I never forget to put sunscreen on. My grandma is also a huge believer you don't need sunscreen. We went to Montenegro last year during summer. I brought 1 L of SPF 50 and I also bought some additional SPF 50 (200 ml) because I was running out of sunscreen (I reapplied SPF every 2 hours), while my grandma was tanning, sleeping on her stomach, applying tanning OIL. We stayed for 6 days and on the last day, guess who got a sunburn with their shoulders looking like salmon and was unable to sleep comfortably? Definitely NOT ME. I wonder why.
I had to take betaine hydrochloride to raise my stomach acid so I could actually absorb the iron.
Can iron deficiency without cause spleen pain?
My ferrittin is 7,i feel like death.

Foods that contain Tannins also!! Great info Doc, and great vibes too! Just getting started on this journey of making sure I get optimal iron absorption! I’m anemic so I am currently taking an iron supplement per my naturopath, called Floradix. Don’t want to stay on it forever tho so I will be increasing my red meat and grass fed beef liver I get from a local farm. I chop it up small and swallow it down raw with water. Never even taste it. 😍 Currently I do 1 oz a day. Is it safe to have more than that tho? Thanks! New subber here! ❤️
Omg can’t have eggs? I thought eggs were high in protein but then it interferes with iron absorption?!
Eggs are a great whole food maybe just eat at a different time then you take your iron supp.

My husband is 27 years old and going through iron deficiency anemia, ferritin is 77, his ALT is 50, having a bit high cholesterol level and pre diabetic as well. From where shall we start we are so confused. Please guide
Ace K is a BIG headache trigger for me. I had to stop using Optimum Nutrition (ON) whey protein products because of it.
My oral surgeon, who is also an MD, said salt water rinses dehydrating
Does exercise consume the ferritin When i am at high intensity program I need more iron and my ferritin drops
I guess the myoglobin is also made of iron
I am a vegetarian Struggling with iron deficiency with mild anemia Have been having hair loss on and off for years Didn't knew it was due to iron deficiency. Recently due to heavy hair fall i checked my blood parameters Found out my ferritin was 9 and hemoglobin also 9 Have been taking iron supplements since 5 months almost every day. Now my hemoglobin is normal but ferritin is not raising. It is at 28. Still having hair fall but a little bit lesser. Hope something works out
Can you kindly quote your research Source?
I got sick 2 weeks ago, so i would fall asleep on the couch. I am currently staying at my moms, and it was strange, but i was hardly caughing, but i felt hazzy and out of it and very sleepy. Im over the cold now, but im still trying to figure out why i feel out of it. I usually run and stay very active. My mom has a lot of plug ins that are strong, and there is one litterally 2 feet from where I've been sleeping at the lever where i put my head on couch its at the same height. And it just dawned on me it must be the plug in that is making me sick, so i just unplugged them. And thats why i started to research if they are toxic and saw your video. I will make sure to tell my mom becouse she has a lot of breathing problems. I was starting to worry why i felt so bad the past two weeks and was really starting to worry. Thank you!!!
Thank you for bringing some common sense to this topic, most people are sun screen obsessed and they dont understand the chemicals getting absorbed into their skin. I think we need to have common sense. In Australia the sun is intense so i always wear a hat to protect my face but i let my limbs absorb sunlight in the morning. I had a Dermatologist laugh at me when i asked if i needed to wear sunscreen to prevent skin cancer, he basically said the chances of me getting skin cancer from the sun is zero, because of my Iranian genes. And the fact that is i've never once met or heard of any Iranian getting skin cancer. Other races i cant comment on, but one rule doesnt apply to all. We need more good doctors debunking myths created by big pharma. The other funny thing is in Australia, most people are vitamin D deficient :)
Hii doctor I've normal hb level (13)but ferritin is 5.8ng& iron level is 52ug/dl TIBC is 389 ug/dl Transferrin saturation is 13% Is this iron deficiency? Before 1month I had symptoms like fatigue, hairloss, excess bleeding&dizziness But doctor told me that your reports are normal Still I've headache lightheadness & some circulation feeling in head Can you pls.explain me doctor
Doesn't do anything for my respiratory issues 🤣🤪😝
Licorice, mullein and thyme teas are awesome as well!
I've had a bad Diet Dr. Pepper habit for years I switched from regular Dr. Pepper to diet when I became diabetic, however I think aspartame is very bad so I recently switched back to regular Dr. Pepper but just add ceylon cinnamon to it. My numbers have been better not worse.
I have used sunscreen once in my life because someone told me is good to protect my skin but the moment I put it on my skin it doesn’t feel right my skin started to feel weird. Never do it again my instinct says it’s not good in a long run.
My B12 level is always ridiculously high (around 3,000, sometimes higher) for YEARS and I do not take ANY B12 at all. MY methamolonic acid level is normal (166 and 139), so they say I’m not functionally deficient. My platelets are always high and my hemoglobin is usual a little high or high normal (right now it,s 15.0) and hematocrit usually on the high side of normal (current was 43.9). Erythropoietin is 4.5 which is the lower side of normal. I have horrible Erythromelalgia in my feet and hands. I’m so beyond beat down. I feel I have PV but dr’s only want to monitor and give me iron which seems to make my erythromelalgia worse. It feels as if my feet are so full of blood that they will explode. My cuts bleed for a very long time, nose bleeds often and are very hard to stop. Bruises all over. Hematology Nurse practitioner says I don’t have polycythemia Vera because my blood levels would be way worse or something. I just want any kind of a life back. I’m 43.
Love you teaching, have a great new year.
Thats ironic that the body would act like its an overload when mine is extremely under. My ferritin was at 1 in August when i passed out. I have been taking liquid iron everyday religiously. It was a very popular one everyone here on UA-cam raved about. My ferritin went up to 3 in 4 months and has stayed there. Thats still a far cry from where it needs to be. I feel extremely fatigued and haven't felt this tired and just blah in so so long. I just wanted anything my doctor could do for me to help my energy. I tried everything, even b12 shots and they dont even make me feel the way i used to. I will always have low hemoglobin. My normal is low 9's and it has fallen to now my normal lately has been in the 8's. At one point, it was 7.1. I understand i may gain weight as long as it is a temporary thing it will be worthwhile to me. The doctor is doing 5 200 mg iron infusions because she believes it has less side effects that way! I am looking forward to feeling better in a few weeks hopefully! If i do, i will keep doing them. I am the kind of person who most likely wont ever get too much iron. I have Thalassemia with iron deficiency and i have heavy periods and during that time, i get even worse symptoms! I get blood clots and it may even be a big cause of my anemia! My doctor did tell me we need to find the problem because doing the infusions are just line a band aid because i will keep needing them. I am being seen by a Gynecologist so hopefully she helps me find a solution too and she is working with my hematologist! Its nice when doctors work together! I just want to feel better soon!! ❤
Thanks so much doc. I faced so many doctors in my life and not one of them explain how things work and i am always left in the dark. Its always just yes or no. Good or bad or ok. I am a smart person with genuine deep interest in biology. i wish I could ask but usually doctors are pressed in time to see the next patient. This is so enlightening. I worry often. I have anxiety maybe due to ferritin deficiency. Not knowing or misdiagnosing myself makes me even more depressed. This explanation give us peace of mind which is A LOT. It is also a medicine to educate patients. It is as good as giving patients a "happy pill" like giving them iron supplements when they are deficient. Dont underestimate the power of calm mind in healing.
@@Winterheart00 thanks for sharing!
I have leukemia 2 yrs with all the symptoms of anemia for 1.5 yrs. Rbc and hemoglobin always at minimum normal but noone checked my ferritin until I just requested it because I could feel it was the problem especially during periods. When I requested the test my rbc and hemoglobin were now low and ferritin is 11. Not happy it took this long.
What about with leukemia?
