Not running From something! They dream, as We dream: unwinding the Brain from the day's activities & events. Also what you Want to do, and sometimes what you have Done. Almost Never 'stressful' dreams! Unless Trauma has been Acute or Prolonged. They Wake themselves Up if not happy with what they are Doing in the dream- Startling Awake! But never- in my experience- after a long, deep sleep and Dream cycle! They are 'Running' almost always... because that is what they Love to do! Animals Rarely 'Walk Anywhere!' Cats & Dogs always 'Lope' ,'Trot', or Run, ( their equivalent to these actions) where they are going... especially to have 'Fun!' My Dog is almost Always Silent! Except in Very Specific Situations, & Never Barks when 'Playing'! Yet, whenever he get's into his Deep Sleep- Dream Cycle; he Always Yips and Clearly is Running, running, running, and 'Barking' the Whole Time! Not in Defense or 'Alert', but Some Other state where he is The Barking Wildman! Having a joyous Nutty time Barking out his exuberant Joy at Being a Free Dog! [ He is Always Free. Trained & Without any Line or Tether! Frequently and Regularly 'at his Own recognizance at a Run Free Huge Varied terrain area... every couple Days! Walked - w/ 'leash' only for legalities on his Collar- Totally Tethered by my voice Alone! So Free, for all intents and purposes. Yet he Still has a level of Dream Freedom, and Different,Totally Things he gets up to Dreaming, that are Constant,( that include Lots of Running & Barking), & clearly Let Out whatever Needs to be 'Vented' thru this Process! As with your Cat... Dreams are Theirs, and another beautiful individual thing: Totally Their Own!

My cat looks like her and sometimes, she sleeps and all of her paws wiggle as if she's running from something..
