What is Lipid Panel Test? | Lipids & Lipid Profile Test Explained
What is Lipid Panel Test? | Lipids & Lipid Profile Test Explained
In this video, we will discuss what are lipids, How many types of lipids are there, what is lipid profile test, and how to interpret lipid profile test. We will also discover some risk factors associated with high lipid levels and what are some steps you can take to lower your lipid levels.
0:00 - Intro
0:17 - What are Lipids?
Lipids are fatty compounds that perform a variety of functions in your body. They’re part of your cell membranes and help control what goes in and out of your cells. They help with moving and storing energy, absorbing vitamins and making hormones. Having too much of some lipids is harmful. A lipid panel can tell you if you have normal levels.
What do lipids do?
Various lipids have different functions. These include:
1- Triglycerides transport and store energy.
2- Steroid hormones send messages in cells.
3- Bile salts from cholesterol help digest fat.
4- Fatty acids metabolize to create energy.
5- Phospholipids and cholesterol make biological membranes.
0:32- Types of Lipids
There are different types of lipids, but in this video we will discuss two types, cholesterol and triglycerides.
Cholesterol is further divided into two main types:
1- High-density lipoprotein (HDL), it is also called good cholesterol.
2- Low-density lipoprotein (LDL), it is also called bad cholesterol.
2:21 - What is lipid profile test?
(what is lipid panel / what is lipid panel test )
A lipid profile or lipid panel is a panel of blood tests used to find abnormalities in blood lipid concentrations. The results of this test can identify certain genetic diseases and can determine approximate risks for cardiovascular disease, certain forms of pancreatitis, and other diseases.
Four components discussed in lipid profile includes:
1- Total cholesterol
2- LDL cholesterol
3- HDL Cholesterol
4- Triglycerides
04:09 - How lipid profile test is done
(Preparation for lipid panel, preparation of lipid profile)
04:38 - how often to get tested
how often you should take lipid panel test?
04:56 - Risk factors for High Lipid levels
05:30 - Steps to lower Lipid levels
How to lower lipid levels, how to lower cholesterol , how to lower triglycerides

Thank you for the explanation i really curious about this shivering or cold
i have a question what is the white stuff that forms on burns
The skin turns white after a burn due to the damage and destruction of the skin layers, particularly the epidermis and dermis. Melanocytes are the cell that release melanin, which is responsible for skin pigmentation. When skin layers are damaged, Melanocytes are destroyed as well. This result in lack of melanin, and therefore loss of pigmentation. That's why skin appears to be white after burn.

Intravenous calcium.
@@MedBoard in hypomagnesemia calcium should be administered iv ?
It's hypermagnesemia. In patients with severe hypermagnesemia (causing cardiac or respiratory distress) intravenous calcium gluconate or calcium chloride is administered to antagonize the toxic effect of magnesium.
@@MedBoard thank you so much means a lot for this explanation
You are welcome, we hope it will be helpful to you 😊 Goodluck ☺️

I'm so confused about DS. The only thing I've noticed were their looks and some speech. What does it do other than basically affecting their face?
It varies widely from person to person, all different levels of functioning too. I'm not speaking from an educated point of view just personal experience; just realized I actually don't know the "official" answer to that either, anyone else better at explaining?
Many of these are lies. There are many things most will not face during a real conversation on this topic.
