Hi! My name is Calado, and I'm the creator of this channel. Move Dendê is the youtube arm of Dendê Arts - Cordão de Ouro, a Capoeira group based out of San Francisco California. I love MMA because it's exactly that, a MIX of Martial Arts. MMA has limitless combinations and not one style will ever reign superior over a Mixed Martial Artist. So, of course capoeira is useful, all MA styles have something unique to offer. I would argue training Capoeira offers its practitioner superior mobility.
Show 🔥 Sucess
Do you have to string it before everytime you play it? And how often does the string need to be changed if ever?
Awesome channel, great collection of moves, love this!
Esta vendendo isso ainda? Are you still selling these? Might have a few people from my roda buy some up.
Hey there! Yes still selling these Abadas! And they go fast every time i stock up so get them while you can :) dendearts.com/product/abada-joggers-unisex/

I think Capoeira is extremely useful entering into and out of grappling situations, level changes, and grounded scrambles. It would be even more useful if kicks to the head of a downed opponent were allowed. Think about when two fighters scramble off grounded grappling encounter. Instead of needing to get back to standing they would be able to throw powerful kicks from many more positions while disengaging.
From my own limited knowledge, and before watching the vid, I’m pretty sure capoeira was invented by regular people to fight off the British right? And that it looks like a dance to trick the British when they were found training. So based on that history, I imagine it has quite a bit more basis in actual combat then martial arts invented by people who live in mountains their entire lives that also are meant to train the spirit. Idk tho
This was a really awesome breakdown! To add to this, Jessee Encamp has a video where he explores Taido, which has a lot of similar movements to capoeira. The instructor and several students show how they use Chapa de Angola in their sparring. Check it out 👌🏾 - ua-cam.com/video/pjZMrib4agU/v-deo.htmlsi=-oxOAdj1XDUc2Tbq
The problem is that capoeira is effective but you get disqualified. The primary strike in Angola is cabecada (headbutt) and 12-6 elbow. Usually the 12 to 6 is used against the head when head butting. And the razor blade is not allowed too.
The reason for the meia lua circular movement was that people used to put razor blade in the shoes so the blade cut through. In the soles
Capoeira: How to be clown...
My dad master Arthur Emídio fought against Gracie’s with capoeira and he won some fights. He lost to Carlson Gracie

I think that's just a tornado kick. A Parafuso needs both legs together and is more like a 540 kick.
What park is this in? Looks beautiful.

Thank you
Good vidéo
I discovered your channel thanks to Channel Maker and so I came to say hi ! I like Capoeira, I did some when I was traveling in Brazil.
Yeah audio would be great on the names
What are the two different capoeiras?
Can do audio on the name
I remember when I had Capoeira workshop and there was a teacher who also does Luta Livre which is more grappling and he show how those to are interconnect
Hands goes down the ground before you kick to get more torque and power from pushing the ground with your hands. That's the technique I've been taught, in a slow controlled manner.
It's a dance by the Brazilian natives to hide the fact that they can beat up the Portuguese colonists
bad audio
I really liked the video. Thanks for the moves/history. I'm 19 and still haven't taken a martial art. I want to do tournaments one day and I'm interested in Capoeira
Top
Can u make these 12 movements video
Thanks for the comment. I'll have to think about how I can do this. but I appreciate the thought
Can u make a full capoeira course...?
Thank you!
First of all, if you’re a capoeirista who also trains BJJ, it’s very natural tu use Aú to pass guard. Obviously a fast and strong Meia Lua can be very damaging, but we also throw kicks like Martelo (roundhouse), ponteira (front kick), and chapa (side kick) very effectively. Other than this, let’s not forget take downs and sweeps like vingativa, banda de costa, tesoura (very effective in BJJ as well), rasteira (single leg sweep like in Muay Thai), arrastao (double leg take down)
Even 100% of boxing isnt useful in mma
Yes your right, one muay thai shin kick and your dead, also an untrained man can just grab and wrestle you
People seem to forget that capoeira was developed for fighting. It is fighting disguised as dancing
❤👍🥰🤗😍👏
Very nice post
Nice to see you posting!
Is this practical in mma? It looks like you could easily get swept of that grounded foot but I’m certain abt that
I just got my berimbau today from Capoeira Connection and I am haveing a heck of a time getting it strung. You did a very good job on this video. Thanks!!! I'll try again in the morning!
