We were able to watch him eating his dinner. He is 20 years old, blind in his left eye, and right wing injured, cannot fly.

Isn't this off Cave Fork Rd? I've heard access to the overlook is now gated which sucks. I'm wondering who I could get in contact with to get granted access
Such a beautiful scenery and perspective my friend! Area looks amazing! ☺️
I've been researching this place a lot. I've heard that apparently now you can no longer drive out to the overlook due to vandalism to the oil extraction equipment up there. Sucks cause I was basing a whole trip of getting the Jeep actually out on the lookout. I've heard you can walk up to at a certain point although I'm not sure how far from the point in which a grate was installed. Maybe you can verify possibly? But in any case do you access the trail up to it off Cave Fork Rd? Are there any other overlooks in the area that you can actually drive out on? Sucks that people ruined this one
Sorry just seeing your question. I haven’t been in years, but yes, last I heard they had shut down access.
That is very long road to travel
That road is so long we’re. Is house
we wer right behind you so cool
This made me cry 😢 my man R.J gave me this song 🎵 wants to marry me and play it at are wedding someday be nice to have kelsey hart singing in are wedding ❤too
I was there, one of the greatest concerts I’ve ever been to
same, genuinely amazing experience
did you record Karma???
No sorry.
I got it on UA-cam on my TV too. Lots of his songs. ❤️🎶
Red Byrd is one of my favorite arches in Kentucky. That trail is wider now. Any vegetation near the trail is gone. Roots and nearby branches used to steady yourself are gone. People are starting to illegally camp and build fires there. The last time there, I seen someone's toilet paper UNDER THE ARCH! The forest service is useless. They don't even file charges when people post their illegal activities on social media with a full admission and provide pictorial proof. Was the deadfall which currently takes up the middle 1/3 of the trail a big problem when you made this video?
The deadfall from my memory was fresh storm damage with tons of blown down living trees. Many still very unstable and lots of splintered trunks, but that was years ago.
@@kbhart1974 Thanks for the answer. It's all significantly rotted and has sunk into the ground. The first time I went there, I climbed through almost everything. Now, you can step on or over most of it. Reroutes go around the worst of it. It's a lot easier now but the increase in trail traffic has had a devastating effect on wildflowers and other plants along the trail. The arch itself, thankfully, has still not been defaced.
Is this pistol creek Ohio?
No. It’s near Slade, KY
@kbhart1974 ok, I didn't think it was Ohio, but it's been years since I have been out there. Thanks for the response!
Thanks for this, is there a dry season ya think? Wanna do the entire DBBB on dual sports with my buddy.
I’d say August - October would probably be the driest on average. DBBB doesn’t have too many deep spots that are “required” so unless it’s rained a lot you should be good most any time.
We are wanting to come down the week before memorial day, think it will be super crowded?
Probably will be crowded then. We tend to go at random times and if things look crowded we go explore other areas.
Could a stock 4 x 4 handle this? - stock Xterr a Pro4x here.
Conditions change drastically from week to week depending on traffic, weather, and road rework. I’ve been when it was stock friendly but it’s usually in rough condition and large tires 33”+ and high clearance.
Nice job! I love the location of the camera as well as the lights! Well done!
Thank you very much!
Great video of my favorite little jeep loop …Spaas and P Hollow!
Mine too!
While I love the gorge, some of my favorite hikes are in the big south fork!
Amazing shots, colors are amazing. Music fits simply perfectly!
Amazing technology this drone has! Thank you for sharing a nice video!
Wow what a beautiful view !!
There’s a ton of rub on those rocks from other wheelers, did you happen to catch the rest of your ride on video? Does it swing to the right on up past that spot going up hill?
We ended up turning around soon after that spot. It was getting dark, first time there, and riding solo.
Have you done coldiron frk yet it’s rough
I’m not sure. I’ll have to look it up.
Yep! Looks like we hit Cold Iron Fork last July

Might be some footage in this video.
Nice drive through the woods 👌
I love exploring
adding lockers to my old xj was a game changer. It made a world of difference!
Traveling from South heading North
Great Video! What trail is this ?
I think this was a section of the KAT.
Elmrock Road I believe.
Looks like a lot of fun , any good dispersed camping area there?
Red River Gorge currently has a backcountry parking pass allowing camping within exceptions and rules. Unfortunately overcrowding and growth is causing that to be changed to designated reservation sites only over the next few years.
Thanks for the ride! 🙂👍
Definitely don’t want to slide into that!
Was certainly a puckering experience.
Awesome footage!
I did Spaas Creek a month or so ago. I think I must have either gotten off trail or taken all of the worst options - lol I went thru some very difficult areas in my Grand Cherokee TH. Slid to the right going up that waterfall into the shale and dented both passenger doors. :(
It's a beautiful place out there. If I was still in Lexington I'd go more often. Too many people there though. Out near Parched Corn Creek a lady from Ohio told me to leash my dog. That was the last time I went there (probably 2014).
It was a rainy stormy day so nobody was there. Only crossed a couple people. We timed it perfectly between rain showers.
@@kbhart1974 that's how we did it, too. Lol.
What size lift, and tires? Keep seeing that tree at the start and wondering if my F150 with a 6" lift and 35's will fit
My XJ sits at about 7’-4” to the top of my spare tire sitting on top. I’m not sure life or size of the truck in front of me. I’m running 33s on 6” of lift on my XJ.
@@kbhart1974 Thanks man. Headded there this weekend and really wanted to run spaas creek. Everything Ive seen looks like a great ride
Be sure to checkout Pumpkin Hollow as well.
Also, check your route: the bridge over Cane Creek on 599 is closed. If coming from the South, you will need to enter from Nada instead of Stanton.
Pretty sloppy road, the Jeep did great. 👍
Nice XJ. Not sure if you have a video (I haven't found one) on a walk around of your set up. Which leaf springs are you running? I'm slowly (very slowly) working on our 99 XJ. Replacing rusted sections of the floor pan. No fun... Thanks for posting. Looking forward to the next episode..
RE 4.5” leafs, but I’m still using some old drop shackles from the original Rough Country lift. Measures about 6” lift, axle to unibody rail while fully loaded.
i wonder how bad that puddle is on the left at the 5:50 mark
I got stuck in it a few years back. It had some sort of stump in bottom and I buried the front. Have not tried since.
Is that part of the KAT?
It’s CR-1254 near Irving
Awesome video. Such a pretty trail.
Awesome video
Awesome video. Love that trail.
Awesome angle
I had so much fun doing these trails. Looking forward to going back and doing them all again.
Was the tundra running stock suspension or did they have a leveling kit?
Not sure. I think it was all stock.
I was with the guy in the tundra. Stock suspension. Just increased tire size a bit.
This is phenomenal content youtube is weird. I tried to make a UA-cam channel but I failed . Keep it up you will strike gold soon (❤ ω ❤)
Are there any signs that let you know you are at the trail that goes to the falls?
No, but most of the time you will find at least one car already there. It’s a very popular place currently.
I need to get out again after watching your video. Nothing quite like rock shelters and waterfalls in the middle of the forest.
Awesome video mate
