    Don't. As an autistic, ADHD former child who was homeschooled for the near entirety of high school, just don't. You will deprive him of a social life and stunt the development of his life skills and independence. It happened to me, and I'm still recovering as an adult.

    • @dickinaroundthehouse6689
      @dickinaroundthehouse6689 3 місяці тому

      Thanks for the input. Julia and I agree with you ---his socializations and friends are more important to us than his education. We had a meeting with the school today and HE WILL BE promoted with the rest of his class next year. (I did a fair share of screaming to not F with him).... so he doesn't lose his friends (thank God). Moving forward, we are going to trial homeschooling over the summer (he's behind for 5th grade anyways), and we will make a final decision together in the fall. He has 90% of the say over the matter and we will respect his decision and continue to fight for him however he needs fighting for :P If he chooses to continue with this school, I'll slam as many staffing doors as I need to get him his fair shake. Keep in touch man. The family website is avxpro.org. There's not a lot up yet and the layout stinks but you can see more of him there.

    I haven’t watched the whole video but I’m also a teenager, if you are planning on homeschooling him as a way for him to learn at his own pace do it. Just give him some form of social interaction, I’m autistic and HATE social interactions most of the time but I’m homeschooled and don’t get them at all and I’m starting to go insane. Give him what he needs, homeschool him, give him social interactions or some form of life- and be kind and teach him and then it will be perfect ! Make sure to get his consent or make sure he’s comfortable with you homeschooling him.

    • @dickinaroundthehouse6689
      @dickinaroundthehouse6689 3 місяці тому

      Thanks ch4n. Social interactions are #1 priority for us. I don't have all the answers yet but there's homeschooling groups we can look at, plus things like boyscouts, YMCA, possible school activities at the local public school, dances, etc. First thing we are going to do when summer vacation starts is get on the bike and scooter and meet as many people as possible to start getting those networks built. I got him a basketball for his birthday so that he can make friends playing HORSE with kids he meets at the park. I'd be interested to learn more about your daily experience being homeschooled... what you love / hate, etc. It may help.

      @@dickinaroundthehouse6689 that’s great. I’m sure you are a great parent! If you want to know what i do for homeschooling here it is Most days I have a workbook, similar to the ones in school and I do a page a day. There are a lot of tests online where you can see his grade level. My parents checked mine and mine in math was my grade level and in English it way above my grade level in 11th grade.! Socially there are a lot of “homeschool groups” that my mom applied to that I go to most of the times on fridays, it’s optional if you want to come or not, so if there is a emergency then you could skip for months if you had to. But for the homeschool groups I made a bunch of friends from it, the one I’m in mainly goes to parks, libraries, water parks, trampoline parks, gardens etc! It’s very fun, maybe you could get him into some thing like that. :D The only thing I dislike is how some of my school friends left me after I started homeschooling, and how it feels like your missing out. So if he has friends now make sure to keep in contact with them , if that’s okay with you. I hope your experience goes well with whatever you do in homeschooling or public school!

    You say you want to make friends with this hawk? Well, you need to make a big impression. You should place a raw meat item on the feeding stand, preferably a chicken heart or liver, since the hawk can slurp those up in one gulp! Plus, those are the innards of prey which the hawk eats first before eating the skin or meat of the animal. The Red Shouldered Hawk mostly catches lizards or snakes, which are small animals. But store bought meat will work. Just find them in the Deli section. Place it on the same spot every day and then the hawk will come every time. Then one day maybe you could hand feed this hawk. I wish you the best of luck!

      Alright, well another thing is once you do see this hawk, you want to make sure the hawk doesn't see you. Just drop it down your window first. Slide your hand under the window and slightly throw a small meal so that it goes only a few feet. The movement should attract the hawk. After that, then the hawk will recognize the color of the food, than realize that once you set it down that it is a meal for the hawk. After the hawk remembers the meal, then he/she will remember the location and remember to come back. But you have to do it at the same time each day. Early mornings and sunset are the only times the hawk is the most active. So if you present the food during those times, the hawk should be nearby. You won't know the hawk is there until you look out your window and see the hawk swooping because they tend to hide in the trees most of the time even when they are hunting.

      We saw the hawk again today when we pulled in the driveway! I figured it had just moved on since it's territory is so large! So, let me see if I've got this right: buy chicken hearts / livers from the deli, lightly toss it in my yard from my window every morning at 7am, collect it back again if uneaten by 9am. Do this everyday for a month. Correct?
