For to-be travelers, if you ever get sick here I’d sincerely recommend considering taking antibiotics if you get this sick, especially if you’re eating a lot of street food or for some reason thought that drinking tap water here was a good idea, even us locals get sick a lot and sometimes it’s not just some indigestion that you can will away. Wash your hands constantly, ESPECIALLY if you’re getting this chummy with street animals. If you’re at a restaurant, order a cimarrona. It’s basically sparkling water with lime juice and salt, lime juice keeps the nausea down and helps with the tummy ache (yes, even if it’s acidic). And for the love of god, do not eat pineapple.

Such a bummer that this experience got compromised by the sickness (least favorite part when traveling tbh) I’m going to Guatemala in a few weeks, I was borned and raised there, came to the US at 11 I’m now 22 and haven’t been back in 7 years, now that I’m older I want to experience my country and appreciate all the beautiful scenery, sadly i won’t be doing this hike this time but super excited to go with my boyfriend and experience this together in the years to come ! Anyways thank you for sharing your experience I teared up a bit, wishing you guys more safe travels ❤

Very cool video! Are all of the birds sounds in the background actually from those clips? I am a bird photographer interested in photographing birds with Fuego in the background so just want to make sure those aren't bird sounds that were added in post as sometimes is the case.
