World is a better experience. Rise is a better game? That’s the way i’d describe it. World is 100% a better experience with large scale and nice graphics, etc. Rise has better combat and allows different weapons to have different playstyles within themselves and infinitely better monster selection.

EDIT: 5:00 WHAT xD (also rise khezu is not the first khezu ! so the devs of rise didnt come up with this BB-esque guy !) EDIT2: Khezu has a Lip-flap that can sniff ! It can't see, but it smells really well (basically a second layer of 'mouth' around the inner part of their lips !) - they have a sniffing animation where they weirdly fold their lips up and down when sniffing for a hunter :3

this video popped up in my recommendation list during autoplay on youtube , while beating up an anomaly quest Seregios to farm some Augmentation mats, I just kept nodding and saying "same" every time you pointed something out. I like Rise's combat more, but started with world! and the story and feel to it all is great, but rise just clicks better with me. So ye, I fully agree with all of your points, even from that point of view (coz you mentioned starting with rise) Can't wait for wilds too, maybe I'll start making content like yours, and perhaps jab at your videos now and then x) But hey i'm just talking outa my ass right now, but might happen! :D

I agree on the point of graphics for world. I love the game, but sometimes the textures do just meld together and just looks like an amorphous glob of texture noise when you're not directly paying attention to it.

flooded forest in rise is a new gen remake of a thirda gen map, its not that its trying to be an ancient forest

Started in the 4th generation of games (even before Generations was even announced) and definitely can say that the MH games I've played so far are all great in their own ways. Each one does something rather unique, but you can still feel an overall improvement in the newer titles, with the 5th generation being a massive leap for shaping the franchise going forward. With Wilds coming soon in 2025, we're gonna get something particularly special with the start of the 6th generation. As I'm sure some people already pointed out in the comments, it seems to blending together what worked the most from World and Rise, while adding onto it or revising it. The hook slinger will certainly give us a lot more incentive to use it, especially since aside from picking up items from afar or triggering traps on its own, there are also plenty of new slinger ammo types. And then there's the Seikret, which of course is an evolution of the mount system that began in World (but was incredibly flawed in my opinion) that then got far better in Rise with the Palamutes and Wilds is just further improving on that. And of course the wound system being an all-around better tenderizing system that simply allows for quick bursts of damage (and free material drops as seen from the Gamescom streams) via Focus Mode. But I'm sure there will be some things in the game we'll nitpick about anyhow, there's usually something that probably doesn't land entirely well in every title.

"using defender gear leads to a massive difficulty spike when hitting the dlc" that's the point the defender/guardian gear is specifically for people who want to skip to the dlc content it wasn't there at launch, it was added a little before they dropped the dlc so people could use it to get to the dlc in the event they need to use a new save file

Rise wouldn't look as bad for me if it wasn't for the glossiness of like half the textures are the nauseating colors.

World is the ecological hunting game Rise is the anime hunting game I love both, rise got hard carried by Sunbreak imo

started with 4u.. i must say.. a loud minority just randomly starts hating the newest game everytime yes there was a time world was hated by the community i hope to hell people stop this with wilds.

both styles had it's perks and cons, some weapons thrived in one but fell hard in the other, but overall, these are pleasant and experimental changes honed to a razors edge with their own unique faults. I'm glad Capcom sticks their neck out for these games to try new things, these gimmicks give all their games a reason to go back and play.

I think a lot of the criticisms that Rise gets comes in 3 different parts (ignoring just straight up nonsense complaints like graphics). 1. The most subjective issue is the new weapon move sets. For some weapons it's really great! For some others like the LS, the movesets just feel really neutered in comparison to World. Some of the moveset got pushed over to the switch skills while the other switch skills just aren't... that good or fun? This jarring change was so bad I changed my main weapon from LS to Lance. 2. People hate the spiribirds. It's kind of really annoying to have to go on a 1 to 2 minute adventure before every hunt to not die like a fly on the wall, that's about it. 3. On release, Rise had pathetically little content which turned off a majority of the people who played it on release, (me included). I kid you not, the only Elder Dragons in the game were Teostra and Kushala, mayble only even Teostra IIRC. And you didn't even get to see the ending of the story! Playing Rise on release felt like playing a 50 hour tutorial and then the game just ends.

Why should I Choose while I could be EVEN HAPPIER?

I started on rise. I love it. I could play everything with my friends and skip most cutscenes when I wanted. World is fun, but doing everything solo until late game or trying to figure out multiplayer ever level was annoying. World was good, don’t get me wrong, but I play with to friends, and that was hard to do through the first few hours of the game and grinding alone was boring and annoying.

If you enjoy the general gameplay loop of Monster Hunter I would honestly suggest going back and trying some of the older titles. A lot of people that were introduced to the series with World or Rise seem to have this opinion that the older games are not worth trying because they're janky. They're not drinking they're just older. There's a much larger emphasis placed on pre hunt preparation and rewarding the player for doing so. Monsters like Teostra and Lunastra, Rathalos and Rathian, or Velociprey and Velocidrome have drops in common because they are the same monster. Resources are much more valuable due to scarcity. Stuff like that. They feel much more like role-playing games than the newer titles imo. That's not to say that the new games are bad, they just don't quite feel like the same series if that makes sense. Kind of like how Sonic add a major design shift starting with Sonic Unleashed.

I started playing monster hunter with world and have since played generations ultimate,rise and even stories. I like them all for what they are. There are some peeves I have but they're only minor and overall I enjoy all. Granted some more than others but, I love monster hunter

Both? All 5 I have played are great 😊 I think a lot of people didn’t realize there’s a “console” game (World) and a “portable” game (Rise) each generation so far and that Rise was going to be that portable entry.

The intro is literally wrong striaght out the gate. Its some bipartism nonsense. There are no die hards who hate rise those are all world babies who are obnoxious, loud, and are new to MH and think they are veterens. Everyone who played games pre world has no issue with rise. The games are always evolving and testing the waters with new concepts and idea. Its literally ONLY the triple A idiots who joined in world that have issues with Rise as a whole. Other members of the community might have issues with certain aspects because every game has flaws. But again its ONLY world babies (5th fleeters) that make world v rise a war because, again, they are dumb.

I just wanted to put out about one note. When you said the Flooded Forest is "Diet Ancient Forest".. Flooded Forest came first, it was in MH3U. It was just repolished for Rise. Technically speaking Ancient Forest is like steroided Flooded Forest. XD But I am in full agreement with you. World and Rise both have their own pros and cons, and I loved both. I played World during its beta phase and on release. When Iceborne dropped I loved the change in pace with the new monster types. But what killed World for me was the Guiding Lands. I still love the game, but I loathe the endgame. Rise on the other hand was very fast paced, very free and customizable. I loved how much freedom you had with your gear, your moves, and your AI partners. Rampage was kinda fun at the start but became crappy as it became tied to all the endgame stuff. Then Sunbreak dropped and it was a whole new ballpark to play in. Anomaly hunts to me are fun for the same reason Expeditions were fun in MH4U

As a monster hunter boomer it took me a long time to accept the changes to gameplay that World brought with it. I *hated* the game (as much as one can hate something that is incredible anyway lol) and was pretty much a bitter boy until Rise got announced. Rise's gameplay was even more different but it had a lot of old monster hunter charm. It really allowed me to let go of my idea of monster hunter and just enjoy what comes my way. I'm playing World again and I really am enjoying it a lot more this time. It's still easily my least favorite monster hunter but it really is making me excited for Wilds
