I talk about several topics in the history of comics, the stories and quality of work, and also about behind the scenes action that helped shape editorial directions.

Parabéns sir Paulo. Birthday's gift is on its way. Sugestão para apresentar as BDs: tirar uma foto às páginas e capas que queres partilhar e ir apresentando à medida que falas delas ou retirar imagens digitalizadas de scans e apresentar como no rip, read or slab.
Good show!
Great stuff Paulo
If I do another live, I'll invite you
@@paulocosta4744 awsome thanks bud
@WerewolfbyLunchtime the toys were my daughters' toys. Dad doesn't own cool toys like her. Beside me there was a crossover between Bluye, Vampirina and Pinypons and DC Super Heroes Girls hanging out in a Barbie's restaurant.
Damn.. sorry for my english mistakes. I am not used to talk with adults in english in public. I hope my students don't find this video on-line.They will say: What a lousy english teacher we have.
Poor tailoring, great overall.
Costa!!! You tha bom trabalho know im sayn there ya go
Very cool!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Very cool interview
Hope you are having fun at this event, is it your annual con? I hope you find some nice new things to buy.
That website (earthlink) is offline. Did anyone save that site?
you still making content?
"Por 70 dolares vou ao Kikas e saio de lá muito bem servido!" priceless Sir Paulo.
Para a próxima é levar também uns fanzines do Vetinho que os Sings-sings enlouquecem.
Just diving into Wildstorm. Thanks for this Paulo!
I thought it was a nice thing to do. I got into WildStorm in my mid teens, just as I was on the cusp to move to reading in English.
@@paulocosta4744 It was a nice thing. As I read more WS, maybe we can have a discussion on stream and I can ask you some questions? Also, did you read Automatic Kafka by Joe Casey? It’s the first WS series I finished recently.
@@Skipntosh I've never read the majority of WildStorm's creator-owned output. Apart from Alan Moore's ABC line, which was handled by WildStorm's office, I also have The American Way, Global Frequency and the original Arrowsmith mini-series. There were a few other things I was interested in but never got around to buying.
Great pick-ups! Flying Man looks cool! Pulp was awesome. So many great books. Thanks for showing them. Great video, just subbed you up.
That is a collectible buy, the Corben hardcover. Rock'n the tan, Costa w/the most on the coast lol...I burn like a muthafukah, it is 100 degrees out today in Denver, sux here, lol!! Portugal must be fukn amazing this time of year, you live in one of the best places in the world, ...I hope you are outside right now,....cuzz I got weeks till I step outside comfortably, lmao!!! HA! Yo, for sci fi adventure, have you checked out much James Cameron's Avatar. The TsuTey's Path is okay, but its more visual, and world building, so it's nothing too deep, but does take place during the Avatar movie, and is a decent read, -but they got a long ways to go, for world building for fans to want to pay more attention... There should had been a Duce world type comic, w/muth fukn "the next Moebius" type artist, but is anyone even looking for that now, ...? Seems like everything is at a full stop still in the New World Order of today... Those books look like pristine condition buys, some of those I would not want to open, like that Bauhaus hardcover, from Germany, I bought, but it's too nice to read! lol!!
Some interesting comics on the want list. There's a back issue place out of Denver, USA called Mile High Comics, and their prices are pretty reasonable. Enjoyed the video.
No "Wannabe" about you! You know your history! Great video, really loved this theme! "Special Edition" size books have always held my attention as a kid and as an adult!!!
nice job! is amazing when someone talks about new comics
I thought that opera had Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny in it! Lots of cool looking giant books, I pity your poor shelves they must be made tough in your house for all the weight you pile on them. Enjoy your reading mate. Hang on.... beach tits??
Foi muito fixe estar contigo, Paulo. Meeting Paulo was really great, as if we were old "real life" pals. What a great haul indeed. Would love to get Sienkiewicz's Moby Dick in portuguese, it would have a market, surely. Bess' Frankenstein has already been announced, it should be published until the end of the year, I believe. Ah, tits! ahahah
Muito boas compras. Realmente não há dinheiro que chegue pra tudo o que queríamos trazer. Se não estou em erro o Bess tá a desenhar o Frankenstein agora, e de todas as exposições do Amadora foi a que gostei mais. Abraço
These books are full of quality art.
Looks like a fun time mate!
My lawyers did their job! Great to see you there guys. Please show more (and cheerleaders, too:)
I wish I was there to visit Portugal's Great Pyramids too!
Nice one, Paulo! I can’t wait for Cons to start happening again in the U.K. 👍🍻👍
This is awesome. It's great to see you guys having a good time!
What!?! Mind the Comics showed up!
Cool to see/hear you are having fun, looks like it will be money very well spent
Yeeeaaahhhh! So good to see you guys
Can’t wait for the next video!
One of the great things about this series is that it is clearly a Post-Watchmen product with veteran creators who crafted a classic Marvel story. Lost Generation touches on morality and regret in a way not seen in any other Marvel comic with a team that aged in real time unseen in a Marvel title since the New Universe. I love this series and John Byrne is a legend. The Star Brand, Next Men, Lab Rats and Doom Patrol are all superb.
What? You mention Tarzan comic strips without mentioning Bob Lubbers?!? How could you?
I don't think we mentioned Jesse Marsh, either.
The less Cavernous ones! Sad I missed this live...but will be listening a bit at a time over the weekend.
Godzilla and King Kong finally got rid of the other two dudes...
thanks
cool set of foreign reprints there, man.
Greyman sent me
Excellent video, Epic put out some of my favorite comics back in the day, like Marshal Law and Nightbreed, truly groundbreaking and revolutionary stuff. Also, sorry I never saw this video until now, but better late than never, eh?
No problem. I try to make all my videos as timeless as possible.
Nice video, stopping by to show some love. Not sure what that super powers book is but love that it has some Batman in it. Might need to check it out.
Super Powers was a quarterly title with rotating characters, usually with good quality story arc and parts of important storylines. Issue #1 had the ending of the Great Darkness Saga, #5 had Supergirl's death in Crisis, #13 had the first major Suicide Squad storyline, #20 had the debut of Justice League Europe. #21 had "For the Man who Has Everything" and "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow", so it's out of sync with continuity, but it was the first time the Brazilian publisher actually ran those stories.
Aww, so sorry I missed this...
Apanhas a próxima.
I had been looking for an interview with him, he is such a brilliant writer. His Lucifer series is probably among my top 3 favorite comic series of all time, the series never felt like it dragged or required substance, just like sandman, no elements of the story were ever wasted.
I wish I had some of those.
If you start going after foreign editions, you're bound to fill up a short box in no time.
Diabolik has never been published in Portugal. be careful with that comment from Forti he is a bot or a troll.
Estava na dúvida sobre o Diabolik. Não é o meu primeiro bot, acho mais piada quando se chamam "Conchita Al-Mansur" e a foto é de uma modelo chinesa :-)
Wannabe?? I'm not sure how much more knowledgable you could possibly get! 😆
The more you know, the more you become aware of what you don't know. It's like walking into a building, opening the first door, becoming dazzled by what you see, wanting to find out more. You open door #2, and find 80 other doors down the corridor. Including a trapdoor and an attic ladder that you can only reach by climbing on a stool. And there's no stool, so you need to jump. This is me jumping.
Dude, I can't see a fuck'n thing, but THANK YOU for trying. I'll see if I can find this stuff somewhere else.
Cool to see you talking comics more. Will be back to watch the whole thing.
