This is an experimental piece of film made from using stills from my digital camera. Unfortunately the decision to make the film was made after the stills were taken so next time I decide to do this it wil be more 'put together'. Prunus 'Alan' Marolia is of course well know for his work in the field of landscape architecture!

Hello Greame and thanks for checking out my first ever short film. I think that you will agree that I have hit the ground running and landed right in the middle of the 1970's. Either that or its a good runner for a tele-tubbie segment. However, much has been learned in the process and with a bit of luck the next one will be better still - you get me!

I wish you would have mentioned more about the history of this castle. Yes, it was a prison, however before it was a prision, it was an amazing castle the queen herself spent a few nights at. My ancestor, Sir John Baker, also lived here for much of his life. He served on the privy council of five monarchs and was a political figure during his time. I believe you could have added more historical refference to this video.

I have recently learned my ancestor is Sir John Baker, better known as "Bloody Baker". The castle has quite a tie to the Baker family line. Also wish they would have gone into the earlier history.

Sir John Baker, Sir Richard Baker, and Sir John Bloody Baker are my 17th, 16th, and 15th great grandfathers! So interesting to find someone also related to them and the castle. I also wish they would have included more history of the castle, it is so interesting.

@@reganbaker7155 Makes you wonder if the land actually belongs to the National Trust.....Boy...that would be a scandal. Land illegally taken away from a family that remained loyal to the crown during a civil war. Then setting heavy fines to retrieve it back. Unable to pay and thrown into debtors prison. The male blood line muddled and documents disappear. Might be a job for Tony Robinson to uncover.

AllySuckBlack These animals have excellent scent memory. If you are to feed a tiger, you should never touch the food with bare hands. Even if you only do it once, the next time you feed the big cat, it will recognise the smell and will then associate human flesh with food straight away. I will leave the rest to your imagination. Very Interesting.. I'm the one that found the picture of the Inmates being killed by the guards.. Had it in my dining room for 10 years after a relative passed away!

This is very interesting ..This place was built by one pf my ancestors by the name of by Sir Richard Baker....I enjoy hearing anything about this place .So sad that it had been used for these purposes .I am so happy someone took over and made it something beautiful after what it had became. Thanks for sharing this history I had only learned about this place in the past year.

Ahhh...all these Bakers coming out of the wood work. I am a Baker too. We should share DNA! Careful with putting your trust in the Ancestors dot com tree. I found many who are not actually related. I would be interested to know which Bakers all of you are from? BTW, here is some homework. Did Sir John Baker have only 2 sons? Or was there a 3rd? Did his sons have sons? Who Did they marry? Was the male line continued? Was the promise kept that Henry VIII made? Or broken by his descendants after the Civil War?

Interesting video - but with a lot of inaccuracies such as the soldiers uniforms from a later period and instruments of torture (no evidence of their existence at Sissinghurst nor their use). Free talks to visitors (40 minutes) on the Prisoners of War at Sissinghurst Castle during 1756-63 are available most Tuesdays on dry days during the summer.

An interesting - but not wholly accurate account of Sissinghurst Castle during the Seven Years War 1756-63 when it was rented by the Admiralty as a prisoner of war camp for French sailors. Many of the illustrations in particular are inaccurate for the period including the uniform of the militia who guarded the prisoners. Talks on this interesting episode in the history of the Castle are occasionally given to visitors on site
