Thank-U very much 4 this neutral presentation, Andrew; U explained it very simply, and quite succinctly. it is what it is, and it was what it was; who's to say who was William Henry Roberts in his younger days, except he himself? And Boy Howdy: Didn't He KNOW!!! Clearly, Joe Hines/Jesse Evans/William Campbell knew what he was saying, when he stated in 1948 that of the original 6 Silver City Boys who rode to Lincoln County during the Autumn of 1877, only himself and 2 others were living: Jim McDaniels, and Henry McCarty, aka, the Antrim Kid. Ironically, it was none other than William V Morrison, a Great-Grandson of Ft. Sumner Rancher Pete Maxwell's Father, Lucien Bonaparte Maxwell, who happened to be trying to resolve a land inheritance claim 4 a law firm, is the one who ended up revealing to the World, with the help of respected Old West History Professor Clarence L. Sonnichsen, that indeed, the reason why this peculiar old cowboy in Hico TX was living off-the-grid, was that he actually was who Joe Hines/Jesse Evans claimed him to be: Billy the Kid. Billy the Kid Museum curators Wayne & Sue Land of Hico aren't runnin' a tourist gimmick: They simply are telling what U reported, as uncovered by William V Morrison, and published by UTEP Professor Sonnichsen: Billy the Kid escaped the crooked arm of the Lincoln County Law yet again, on the night of July 14th, 1881, at Pete Maxwell's Ranch. Daniel A. Edwards had good reason to publish his follow-up on Morrison's & Sonnichsen's 'Alias, Billy the Kid' (1955) in 2014, on the heels of W.C. Jameson's 'Beyond the Grave' (1995). All of these authors are onto something; it's no wonder that Sue Land finally became a believer in 2014: "Brushy Bill" was living-off-the-grid 4 a reason; he was hiding from a former life, hiding from a Legend that had become much more than his own meager existence. It all would've continued that way and quietly gone to the graves with these Lincoln County 'wild west' legends, had Joe L. Hines not spilled the beans to legal investigator William V. Maxwell in 1948. It's no wonder then that 'Brushy' Bill Roberts had all the scars & stories to support Joe Hines' claim. According to author Dan Edwards, Joe Hines ended up inheriting his deceased brother's "Evans' Land," and that's how legal eagle William V Morrison ended up on one William Henry Roberts' meager porch one spring morning in rural Hamilton County TX. It all makes sense then why 89-year-old 'Brushy Bill' didn't possess a Bank Account nor a Social Security income, not even an SSN, this according to Daniel Edwards. Brushy's gun-shot scars & knife wounds weren't a ruse: They were real. that's why he knew that Tom Folliard was from Uvalde TX, and that Sally Chisum was "Old John"s niece, not his daughter; and there's more: Brushy claimed that pot-shot Roberts was a mean old man, and that Sheriff Brady had kept his beloved pearl-handled revolvers, that he had bought 4 $25 in San Antonio. So there's no surprise that Brushy's description of the Lincoln County Jail matched the original blueprints of the structure, discovered in 2019. That's how Brushy recognized Mrs John Abel immediately, and that's why Severo Gallegos recognized the brown specks in Brushy's Blue eyes. Only Billy the Kid would've both known all these people & met all of these standards. If only we can track down a photo of Billy Barlow, many more of Brushy's skeptics might become believers in his 1st-person accounts of the Lincoln County War.

Boothill, which wasn't called Boothill until the mid 1920's, was actually the THIRD cemetery. The first being near the Contention Mine but was getting covered by tailings, then there was another across the street from what is now Family Dollar. Then of course, the 4th cemetery is the Tombstone City Cemetery being used from 1884 to present day. 😉

Any problems with that contact the state of New Mexico.Ask for a official document of his death. They don't have one.As far as New Mexico is concerned,he never died there. This is documented. However,i understand why some people need to continue to believe in Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy.

The 1.90 Meter rule was not really enforced in the 1936 Olympics. I know that from a picture of the Mexican team (which won the Bronze) standing beside the Americans for the podium ceremony, the tallest Mex player was Raúl Fernández, height 1.89 mts (6´ 2.5") ; at least three USA players were about 10 cm taller than him (6´ 6´´). Maybe at the time of officially measuring their height the Americans cheated, they bent their knees and compressed their necks quite a bit.

Billy was not so well known as we modern folk like to think. In the NM territory, yes. Nationally, barely. There was no photographer closer than a 2-3 day ride, each way, so no photo could be taken. But in a small village of about 200 people, most all of whom knew Billy and most were friendly with him, why would Garrett display the body like a trophy? Garrett and his deputies, rather, went out of their way to state how they barricaded themselves in the house all night, fully expecting an assault by some of the Kid's friends in town. One such Fort Sumner resident said that, had a leader been present, that is exactly what would have happened. The fact remains that the towns folk put Billy's body on display through the night to hold a wake, to honor him. No one was thinking "trophy" like a 10 pt buck. They buried their friend the next day after the midnight shooting.
