Awright... last night at HOB, Karin and I returned to the crime scene of our flashback to my appearance onstage of the Anaheim House Of Blues with my partner-in-Red House Radio Hour crime, who couldn't make it last night, the amazing Brigitte Rios Purdy. I ignored the interview app stashed away in my harp kit and got up to boogie with Strat Man “Not Lazy” Lester Lands and the absolutely cuddly ...

Tilman and Noam Harmonikiddos rehearse for the talent show. 😍 yesterday we had a session about stage presence, with Mick Jagger and Jimi Hendrix as examples of the kind of swagger a great performer has in his bones. Billy Joel has it too. I hope that sunk in and I will continue in this direction on Sunday with him 🏄 I think the kind of interaction Jagger has with Buddy Guy in the “Champaign and...

Does anyone know where and how I can buy the DVD? The old links don't work anymore. Thanks Guys.
A GREAT GUITARIST
😈 *promo sm*
Such a tragedy, the passing of Roy, and not satisfactorily explained as far as I know. A unique and fabulously gifted artist. 🎶🌟👍
😍
Nancy was the twangiest Tele.
I've always admired Roy as a kid and still do. His playing is on a level that only he can do. I always told my friends his playing was in another dimension. God bless Roy and thanks to all who recorded him for us.
Roy was one of those guys where if you listened to him play for 100 hours, you'd still walk away with the idea that he hadn't even begun to scratch the surface of what he really knows. (and you'd probably still want to hear more.) I love people who run this deep, no matter what they do, and it's a damn shame that there aren't more of them.
Absolutely beautiful description of a phenomenal guitarist. Thank you.
Roy played clean. No gimmicks. The only true test of talent. He used a Fender Telecaster 1953.....one amp ...his two hands...magical fingers....and his tormented soul. Period. Gimmicks are for those with less talent ......looking for help.
Thank you. See my latest article on Jimi Hendrix and Leonard Nimoy in Guitar World December 2022 🏄♂️
Thank you for Posting. Sounds Amazing.
one of the best times I had was meeting Roy at a show back stage in both Virginia and NJ my guitar teacher back in the 80's introduced me to his music

im 60 .. to me .. even tho as he himself said " there are no number 1's " ... he is a number 1 ... thefirst master of the telecaster .. alone on road at 13 ... he knew more than most forget .. they all came to hear him play , he was the mentor and inventor for many that followed , unknown to most but known to those that know true talent ... ahead of his time .. taken to soon .. just like our other lost magician SRV .. both lost in that few yrs ... RIP Roy .... & srv ... we will continue letting the youngsters know who you are and will keep passing on the magic you gave us ...thank you ROY and SRV ..
He came from Washington DC...as did Danny Gatton, another Tele legend ..
How about Johnny Winter??
Any proceeds from this go to his daughter jenny or his family?
What proceeds? This is a labor love. Once the duplication and printing costs are handled there are no proceeds.

It is a filmed interview session with Roy from 1982, where he explains his playing style, and shows his techniques on one of the most iconic Teles ever, Nancy. This 30 min. DVD is a must for all Roy fans - actually for all fans of vintage Teles! Maybe also for those who normally don't "get" Roy ... Thanks to Noë Gold and John Peden (photographer) for making it, and to Bob Davis for making me aware of it. … Roy also speaks about Teles in general, and how the old (early 50's) Telecasters had a better cut nut which made the open C-chord more comfortable ..... On a "modern" Tele he found that he had a tendency to mute the high E-string with his forefinger while playing the open C. I wonder if the '52 RI has the period correct string spacing ..... ? What proceeds? This is a labor of love and music history. Proceeds go to tape duplication and disc-burning.

Billy was great. I thought Richie Sambora made a mess of Rough Boy. Orianthi's sound was never right. We could barely hear her, and she was wailin. Lukather blew everybody off the stage, BY FAR. His break on LaGrange was killer. He smoked Slash, Billy, everyone! Butch Trucks laid down some heavy drums on the Allmans set. And Greggs daughter can really belt it out, if you get to see Whipping Post. She looked killer, like a Rock Star, but she brings it. Great show, raised a lot of money for a really good cause too. Only complaint I have was standing outside for over an hour so the celebs could schmooze and grab the best seats. We had "reserved floor seats". BULLSHIT. It was 1st come, 1st seated. That was fucked up. Good job though Matt. Ur a great drummer with ur heart in the right place. That said, don't quit ur day job. Ya looked a bit lost as an emcee.
Agree w all of it ... Richie seemed a little ... toasted. Slash, on the contrary, was consummate and rock-steady. I was impressed by his noblesse oblige, a rock god who is humble, what a concept.
Sweeet!
Statesboro Blues.
Thanks, Stephen, I stand corrected.
