divine glaive is based on the enemy's max magic def from attributes while genius wand is simply flat PEN, which means the penetration stays the same for all enemies

If you remember way way back before the formula has changed so the DG and GW can work. Before it wasn't recommended combine both of them, right now we can.

Genius Wand at level 15 reduce 7 Magic Res for each stack, max 21. Harley's passive at max reduce Magic Res up to 20. Both will reduce 41 Magic Res To test if Genius Wand work with Divine Glaive First. You need to ensure after all the Magic Res reduction, target Magic Res should be as close to 0 as possible. It can be done for Bot that have 0 Magic Res given with 3 Basic Magic Res Item with each give 14 Magic Res so total would be 42 and be reduced by 41 to 1 Second, you need to do 2 test. One with Genius Wand + Divine Glaive. Second with Genius Wand and other Magic Item that give the same magic power as Divine Glaive and doesn't have any effect to increase Damage Third. You can't test it with overall damage as Divine Glaive % Magic Pen have advantage at early hit before all Genius Wand and Harley Magic Res Reduction applied. So the test must be done as you see target Magic Res was reduced to 1 (after 41 Reduction) and do 1 basic attack. See that damage and do Second point to compare. If Divine Glaive work before Magic Res Reduction, than there should be a different gap between having Divine Glaive and with other equal Magic Power but no effect. If there's barely any Difference, than my point right that Divine Glaive shouldn't be combined with Genius Wand especially for Heroes that have Magic Res Reduction like Eudora, Harley and Silvanna If you didn't do this test, than your experiment result aren't reliable and cannot to be trusted Edit: I test it myself and *NOPE* there's barely any different Lv 15 Harley with Assassin Emblem, Rupture (5 Adaptive Pen), Master Assassin (7% damage against target without their ally Hero) Magic Power 153 Fixed Magic Pen 29 Damage Bot with 3 Magic Res Cloak (14 Magic Res x 3) Magic Res 42 Genius Wand + Divine Glaive (60 Magic Power) Basic attack against Magic Res 42 to 1 was 353 Genius Wand + Magic Wand (45 Magic Power) + Mystery Codex (15 Magic Power) Basic attack against Magic Res 42 to 1 was 352 There's barely any difference as it only differs by 1 damage which was 40.1% Magic Pen from 1 Magic Res (worth 0.4 Fixed Magic Pen) And that's folk, this video are misleading For you that make *t h i s* video, understand some math first It's understandable I'm being stingy and *E L I T I S T* because I'm an old player back from Season 2

It does backfire a bit, but its really not a bg deal, buying these 2 items can take out 75% of the usuak magic def of a hero on late game, anf that's not even mentioning talents and emblems that give pen.

Genius wand (GW) is better in the early game (as 1st or 2nd item). GW is also for those heroes who deal continuous damage (like Chang-e or Gord) or those who deal multi-hit damage like Aamon or Gusion, as the magic defense reduction of GW stack per hit. On the other hand, Divine Glaive (DG) is better than GW when it comes to penetrating the magic defense of opponents. DG is usually better in the late game where your opponents usually have high magic defense items such as Athena's shield, Radiant Armor, etc.

Its also depend on the hero… some hero that give multiple hit is better to choose genius since it synergies with its passive. And burst damaging mage should started with glaive. IMO.

It depends in mage Genius Wand good for supporting role and definitely with DOT skills or what you call Multi Hit and why its for supporting role because it can also help other Magic type like Karina and Nathan etc. also it good for you as well like i said for multi hit like gord,harley, Odette etc. For devine glaive its for every mage specially to burst Mage for some reason if your not multi hit mage then dont buy genius wand instead use other item like lantern and glowing wand combo and Lightning truncheon also increasing Magic Holy Crystal.

TBH i dont buy any of them! I reached immortal with just lantern glowing holy crystal bloodwings and sky piercer

Why the Genius item alone deals more damage to Athena's shield than when combined with Divine???

For squishy heroes, I use genius wand but for tanky heroes I use divine glaive+Wishing lantern

The difference is very litte, best just go for Genius Wand, plus the Def reduction bonus works for entire team's damage.

Genius good for early to mid if enemy doesnt have magic def item, Divine glaive on other hand are use if enemy have a lot of magic def to reduce thier defense specially on late game.
