Haiti 2015
My second short-term mission trip to Haiti to visit Bousol Timoun - Redeemer's Child Orphanage. They have 46 kids living at the orphanage and about 100 (and growing) who attend the school. I went with a group from National Community Church, a church that I attended when I lived in Washington DC. I also went with them on the same trip in 2012.
These kids are awesome! They really helped me to get outside of myself and think and care more about others. It's a huge joy to try to show them some love since they don't have too many positive adult influences in their lives. They are all very unique, and it's easy to start thinking about their lives and futures. My hope and prayer is that they develop a strong foundation, goals, and just grow to become all that God desires them to be. I'm hoping the fact that I returned to visit, the conversations, and the good times impacted them positively as well.
For me personally, my second trip was an amazing time to get away from all the hustle and competition of the rat race in finance, chasing success, and all the easy pleasures (distractions) that come with a relatively privileged life. This was an awesome time to put all that into hibernate mode. The amazing people, the kids, and the respite really allowed me to grow tremendously in my faith and learn how to do a better job living from the heart.
Hope you enjoy the video!

I don't know what I was thinking. This is way too long!
Weyburn Terrace (Magnolia Court) - UCLA Grad Housing
Переглядів 8 тис.10 років тому
(Sorry for the mumbling tone. I wasn't paying much attention to it at the time) UCLA Grad Housing at Weyburn Terrace, Magnolia Court. This is the two-bedroom apartment (not the townhouse or studio). Currently, it's about $1200 per month, which includes utilities and even cable TV. FYI - I got really lucky with the courtyard. Some apartments face different streets, and some face a courtyard, etc...

Money Market Mutual Funds and Breaking the Buck - in less than 60 seconds

My first video so I started with a very simple concept. I will hopefully be adding videos of financial concepts every week or so. For more info on the very rare case of "breaking the buck", the articles below are good resources. www.finra.org/investors/protectyourself/investoralerts/mutualfunds/p117136 www.investopedia.com/articles/economics/09/money-market-reserve-fund-meltdown.asp online.wsj....
you can't unbreak the buck
Hi there! Thanks for the video! I was also assigned to a 2 bedroom apartment at Weyburn terrace, and I m moving in this Fall! I know it’s been a couple of years, but I hope u still remember the place. It’s 1400 a month now, and if my budget is 2200, do u think living here is still a good option? I don’t plan on getting a car, btw. Also, how did u like sharing an apartment with a roommate? (Kitchen, noise, friends coming over, etc.). I will really appreciate ur help, thanks :)
Were you able to put removable wallpaper?
Where did you park when you were living there?
Under the building. It's included.
Ryan Goodman thanks. We have to pay extra this year for parking at weyburn. We’ll see how it turns out...did you walk to campus most of the time since it’s so close?
@@qingyuezhou1722 I maybe forgot about paying extra for parking. I drove for various reasons, mostly just not having time to walk. I'd just look on google maps because some building will be closer than others.
That term alarms most people of color due to the history from slavery
I just googled it. I had no idea it had another meaning.
why wont you show your interior areas?
Yes, you get to see the outside and amenities, but you get a very small and short glimpses of what the apartment inside looks like. With most of the courts being about the same it seems repetitive and a doesn't get into the guts of what you would need to see. I wouldn't have a problem with a cemetery view. What would worry me is the accessibility of one area to another.
I wish you would also get inside the Paseo court! :D
man, wish there was a part two!
Hey Ryan, I'm starting a graduate program at UCLA this coming Fall and came across your videos. Since it's been a couple of years, would you recommend moving into grad housing or finding your own place near campus? Thanks!
+xnuralratiugx I'd say go with grad housing. I didn't look around much at other options, but grad housing Weyburn is a pretty good deal compared with prices in the general area. It's especially nice if you get lucky with a view or even the courtyard entrance.
+Ryan Goodman Great, thanks for the reply!
How come it's so deserted?
Moupi Mukhopadhyay I recorded last summer when it's pretty empty. I moved out a few weeks ago, by the way.
Ah, I see. Thanks for making the video, takes a lot of new student jitters away :)
cool, I'm glad!
This is a freaking long video! ha
Very helpful! Forgot to visit on the campus visit day.
Please make part 2/2 soon :D
Thanks for sharing!
Where is part 2/2?
Good question! Haha. Sorry, it's delayed. I just moved from DC to LA. Any suggestions or critiques?
No man keep doing what you're doing, I had a test the next day and your video came in handy
