Neue Nationalgalerie - Mies van der Rohe and David Chipperfield Architects - Berlin
Built in 1968, the Neue Nationalgalerie was designed by Mies van der Rohe.
The design locates an elevated entrance hall and special exhibits space on the ground level with the lower level devoted to the permanent collection, library, shop and cafe. The steel roof structure is supported by eight cruciform steel columns held away from corners, giving the ground level an open plan.
David Chipperfield Architects completed a respectful renovation in 2021 that preserved the significant elements while preparing the building for its use as a modern museum.
Try the museum cafe of Viet Bowl nearby. Enjoy your visit to Berlin.

Thank you so much…..😊 😅
Too many pieces that do not come together aesthetically. For contrast look at one of Steven Holl's museum projects. The Kiasma is a good example of a unified design. ua-cam.com/video/Tbe9NOjO0wY/v-deo.html
A wonderful lady named Bobby lives here. This was my childhood, living 20 feet from this house in a blue shack with my Grandmother across the alley. She was friends with Bobby. From 1991 to 2018, my Father and I would visit and walk by this house on our ceremonial trip to Fry's for cokes and in the evening to the pier. It's been a familiar house in my memory and represents a profound nostalgia to see it. Thank you for honoring it.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. SHE IS A VERY BEAUTIFUL HOME!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!! I CAN SEE THE BAUHAUSE INFLUENCE WAY BACK TO 1926!!!! THAT IS TOTALLYA WSOME AND INSPIRATIONAL!!!
tell everyone the July 23 council meeting will be a meet my neighbors hilarity fest.
thank you for finally clearing up the mystery of the Mackintosh house kitchen for me. I have been wanting to see THAT room in particular and nobody showed it, which confused me and when you google Mackintosh kitchen you only get modern designs... thank you so very much for these glimpses of what could have been
Looks like the NT has neglected the house. Disgraceful
A hundred years later it still looks modern.
U R THE 1ST & AS FAR AS I CAN TELL ONLY VID 2 EVEN SHOW LITTLE SPAIN!! BRAVO!GREAT INNOVATIVE PERFORMING ARTS CTR!😮
what a great idea for a channel - looking forward to exploring it, many thanks!!!
The mental man who interesting of him work and special purposes not more spoke and crashed the others and buildings
A fascinating area that very few Angelenos know about.
GREAT SHOTS!!!
thank you!
Awesome, thanks! This is one of my favorite buildings :)
Opulence without a meaning, give it to the homeless.
I'd like to be Scottish.
"Until 300 years ago when Scotland fell under English rule“ When an American talks about history…
Absolute garbage
I haven't seen it up close, but I love it and I think I would love it even more. A perfect example of the allure of a plethoric ensemble, a rich environment. Not like the typical notion that architecture has to be a single homogenised shape.
❤
Who is Abdul Morrison in your museum?
Thank you for the post, have any other glass details?
like the videos, just microphone is low and music is high.
I have a assigment with kimbell art museum and this video is help me so much… thank you :)
Quoted £40 million cost £414 million there was only 6 million people population in Scotland then so how much did England pay
Been!

Seems to be the inspiration for the Art Deco period.
Love these short videos! As an architecture major I get to learn some new information from you.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy them.
Tom Scott sent me
I just discover your channel not too long ago, and I have to say I love it! keep up the great videos
Thanks, will do!
Initial estimate was as low as £10m with a £40m absolute maximum depending on materials used. Marble instead of sandstone etc. It ended up costing £414m nearly half a billion to build the ugliest building in Scotland that isn't fit for purpose and no likes to look at and hate visiting. its in the wrong place and is the wrong size and outlay. The councillors who supported this diabolical waste of tax payers money don't care.
One of the most hideous buddings I've ever see. Inside and out. Absolutely revolting.
I worked at Modulightor with Ernst Wagner
Thank you very much for the information. NINASBCN
Great Scot!!👍
Huge difference from the original design! Much less dramatic.
ua-cam.com/video/f2NX-Uvp0WY/v-deo.html
It's said he objected to a vase of daffodils put in the hall by Mrs Blackie because they were the wrong colour. Whether this is true or not - it is argued about - the fact that it is believable says a lot about him; it was not his house but he thought he could tell them what to do with their home.

Before the box was installed, looks much nicer
But it is to save it
I'd rather it look less nice for a while and be preserved for future generations than look good while dissolving
@@LukeIdontKnow I just saw a vid about the box and you can use ramps to see the roof and such. Once they take the box away, you won't be able to see the roof line.
Love this place!
