Informal Setup Video for Dragons Down
Переглядів 1,2 тис.4 місяці тому
This walks through how to setup a game of Dragons Down. 0:30 When mentioning the terrain setup cards, I failed to mention the matching civilization title cards placed, random side up, directly above them in the video. 10:56 Metal coins are in addition to the cardboard coins, not instead of counters. I also neglected to grab my dagger from the items deck.

In this video, we show what's in the box of a production copy of Dragons Down: Desolation. This is not a pure unboxing video since this copy has been played once at Gen Con 2024. This is not exactly how your game will be when you open the box (cardboard sheets, for example).

Dragons Down Playthrough #5 with a Halfling Conjuror and a Dwarven Archer

In this playthrough, George and I play the game without a lot of commentary - just playing. This should give you a decent idea as to game length, etc, not including fumbling around in TableTop Simulator.

Pablo, Fencer, and I take a Cleric, a Knight, and an Illusionist into an Open Realm map. Foreshadowing, at least one of us dies in the game. Lots of fun and unique situations occurred. Enjoy!

Playing Dragons Down as an Elven Druid

A solo playthrough of an Elven Druid in Dragons Down. Let's bring the power of nature and magic to an adventure and see how we do!!!
Man... the more & more I keep learning the more I want to say thank you so much Mr. D for creating all of the optional & advanced rules. I didnt know until now that the merchant/ site cards had more complex options on the flip side 👍👍👍
Too few scenario, it would need more story and a long campaign and then it would be worth the price. What a mistake, everything else works very well.
Thanks for watching Sandro. All games are not for all people. Best of luck in your search.
The discovery tokens with the plus icon: Does N&L replace (or add to) the discovery tokens from the core game with ones that have the plus icon? If you are drawing an extra wilderness token for them, is there an extra token in the set for each one?
02:26:07 Add 15 gold to the Explorer's belongings stack
02:23:45 The Templar is not strong enough to kill the dragon outright
Thank you for another great playthrough. I love this game so much! Thank you Scott.
Thank you for your support!
02:18:41 Combat would not end since the purple cube was wounded whilst casting Strength in the previous turn
02:16:19 The Wizard could still have searched for the Lost Battalion to get 1LP +5F and then leave.
02:07:28 The Wizard could have unequipped the spell book and equipped the Trickster's Stone in the 1st round of combat and cast Divination on the 2nd round to have it active for the next day.
1:08:00 Potion of Healing : spilled my tea through my nose laughing on Kirk's comment
39:20 The rule that allows to use one-use items whenever is brilliant in its simplicity and intuitiveness. I like how Scott always goes for the simpler possible rule which will not disrupt the flow of gameplay.
Quick note: An astute observer pointed out that combat should have ended after I summoned the Elemental in round one using the enchantment cube and then everyone missed in round 2 of combat - two rounds of combat with no wounds or death and combat ends. My apologies. I was too wrapped up in my explanation.
Thank you Scott for the explanation of armor, makes more sense now.
Just backed your Kickstarter for this. Got the core game coming this week. Gotta tell ya I have not been this excited about a game in quite a while. Watching videos on it, the game reminds me of the way I played D&D back in the early 1980's. Thank you, can tell you have a real passion for it!
Great video, nice views. Got my copy coming! Also just bought into your new Kickstarter. Can't wait to play and create a unique story. Love the open sandbox! Thank you, Sir.
I can see that the half-orc is going to have trouble in town with insulting locals
A great point. Some people have wondered if the half-orc was a "better" lineage. But, the Natives & Legends expansion makes it clear that context matters. Some heroes are better in civilization; some better in the wilderness. And certainly the native group matters.
Thank you very much for the helpful video, Mr. D!
Super video Bisou de paris sous la pluie😤
Thank you for the video. I still have not removed the plastic wrap off the box given the minute I do I will cease-and-decist playing HoM&M3 boardgame. I will watch your videos and others on this game for enjoyment for now. From being a previous owner of Magic Realm back when it first came out this Dragons Down game will be my most played game through 2025. Gave you a sub.
Really helpful, thank you!!! I hope this will be the first of many ‘official’ tutorial videos 🙏🏻
Playing outside is absolutely insane to me! Game looks great! Can't wait to get it
Mine just got delivered today!
watching the pieces for real is so cool, these all look so well made
Lovely view (of a lovely game)
Thanks for making this :)
Please see the notes for the video. During setup of my hero, I neglected to grab my starting dagger, which comes from the "items deck" prior to it being shuffled before play.
Cant believe I did not hear of this game until now! It is exactly what I am looking for. Count me in as going All in your upcoming Kickstarter! With some more marketing, I am sure you will attract a lot more interested gamers like myself who are not familiar with Magic Realm. I only came across this game by accident by searching for another one otherwise it would never have entered my radar. Good luck on the next Kickstarter. Hope it comes soon!
Scott still has great T-shirt game 🙂 Honestly I backed this mainly just for the extra terrain tiles - laying the map tiles and seeing the land unfold was one of the parts of Magic Realm I loved the most. But the big extra collection of items and treasures is just a welcome bonus. The one part of DD I'm waiting until I get the physical game to see how it works for me is whether I need something else to give me a tiny bit more of the dungeon-crawling feel I crave on top of the exploration which this will deliver in spades. If it doesn't, I'll probably just homebrew something out of 4AD or Tiny Epic Dungeons to function as a prequel to help with the lineage/class selection - basically have a little (soloable) "Call to Adventure" part of the hero's journey to give backstory for the main adventure on the DD board (and sort-of function as a more playable equivalent to the character creation in Traveller or the FGU games like Space Opera).
That's literally Magic Realm from the 70's. Very cool.
Can a creative person fit both this and the base came components in a single box?
Yes, you can. Sorry for the slow reply
Cant wait to put this on the table. Production quality is looking great
Looks great!
I am such a klutz with TTS that I have not given this game anywhere near the play that I'd like. Can't wait (OK, I _can_ wait, but don't want to) for this to turn up on my doorstep.
Have been following along in the discord server. After those amazing Gencon updates and play tests, I absolutely can’t wait until mine arrives - have quite a few gamer friends I need to show this to….
Looks good, thanks Scott! Question: Is the box for the Desolation expansion the same size?
Yes, it is. I will do a separate unboxing video soon.
Desolation unboxing added: ua-cam.com/video/hM4WsZggdwc/v-deo.html
so goood!
So glad you had great time at Gen Con and it must be such a great feeling for you to have this come together! As great as Magic Realm was for me and my friends in the 80's I'm super excited that Dragon's Down will now let that experience be had by a whole new generation of gamers. I particularly loved building new lands every time in MR and the tileset you've put together here looks amazing.
Can’t wait to play. Looks great!!!
Production looks great! Looking forward to my copy.
I cannot wait to get my grubby little hands on this 😅
Will there be Dragons Down T-Shirts in the next campaign?
Is there a desire?
@@scottdemers9442 Absolutely. I missed getting one when PIS had them for 20 bucks a few years back.
Looking good Scott!
Cool t-shirt
Hah, my first thought on opening the video was "no way a Magic Realm shirt!". No idea such a thing existed.
How much would be impacted in the game if those cards that cause infamy were removed? I am interested in this game, but the quests were too dark for what I would play. Yet they seem small in comparison of the theme of the rest which I like. Would they be something I could leave in the box to experience the game in a lighter / family friendly way?
How can i try this game on tabletop simulator?
I agree on minis unless for a skirmish game , not for board game adventures, storage, weight , painting. However if I already have them I use them e.g. Fantasy Series 1 from Blacklist games covers most enemies and character combos in this game.
Scott you put the spell back in the Deep treasure tile, early on when you were volunteering to fill George's spell book. The no tutorial/explanation lasted a few turns. To switch player focus have use the TTS turn object switched on for this mod.
Sorry about the feedback. I discovered later that my microphone had something spilled on it.
The videos have been good but 1) the audio is an issue - Scott is so quiet and everyone else is so loud so when you adjust the volume to be able to hear Scott your ears get blown out when anyone else speaks making it almost unwatchable and 2) 1080p would be nice so that you can see things more clearly. Also, I would like to see Scott play a multi player game on his own - maybe show some PVP, try some interesting spells and strategies, take on a group of monsters with multiple characters at once etc
Maybe cool if you all check your sound levels at the start because Scott is quiet but the others and guests are booming and for me it's unpleasant, so maybe Scott increase the volume and then can reduce it without losing his important narrative. If OBS used to record you could lower volume on the discord stream.
