    do you repaint the area after you use your scissor jacks? they crack off the paint and leave bare metal open for rusting, I mean it takes a long time to rust like 10 years but it continues like a fuse burning till it gets in the cabin, thats why I got rid of my last car after 14 years

    Good video. Two tips. When you pour new oil from the 5-qt container, tilt the container toward the wide side, not the narrow front side, and you won't spill oil (see 8:33). Also, torque wrenches are valuable, because it's easy to break the plastic oil filter cartridge. Happens a lot. BTW, I believe you can still return those Pittsburgh jack stands to HF for their Daytona jack stands, which are significantly safer.

    Nice job. I had my first service done at the dealer because it was free and they spilled oil all over the engine cover and didnt bother cleaning it.

    Nice to see you pre fill the new oil filter before installation! Many people neglect doing that with a vertically mounted filter. It’s the best way to achieve instant oil pressure at startup.

    • @ChicagoRob2
      @ChicagoRob2 5 місяців тому

      Always prefill. It takes 2-3 seconds for the oil pump to fill the filter, if it’s empty when mounted.

    Good video man! I have CX-50 too and I absolutely love the driving dynamics. Handles so well overall. I use mine for a lot of car camping Spring through Fall and it's just a perfect vehicle for my needs. Owned BMWs and Toyotas in the past and I must say, Mazda has best of both worlds.

      @@ChicagoRob2 If it wasn't for my lifestyle, I would drive a Camry for rest of my life man. I owned few Camrys and they are one of the best vehicles on the planet. If you travel to any country in the world, you'll find a Camry in one form or the other (different model names). They are so reliable and easy to maintain. One of my friends bought my Camry and he drove over 100K miles and still uses it for his main commute car. It's got 200K+ miles and still looks new. Mine was 10 years older than yours.

    On the turbo models all four tail lights illuminate, but on the non-turbo models only the outer two illuminate. I saw a website (milk store ph) selling tail light assemblies which they claimed would illuminate with all four lights. There just aren't many resources out there yet for these little projects on the CX-50 so I can't tell if it's an easy job or not (There is a popular reddit post where a user modified his non-turbo tail lights to illuminate all four lights, but he said it was an extremely difficult process that wasn't worth the effort). Yours is the first channel I found doing any sort of basic maintenance demos. If you keep it up you might wind up with a lot of views

    New and improved oil filter design, not! First time learning process, the older Toyota filter wrench didn't fit as with all my various other filter wrenches. On kinda fits but slips. Got a new wrench just for the new filter style. Holy smokes the Toyota dealer tighten my oil filter to more than what was even required for the lug nuts! Could have broken something by using a breaker bar. Anyways watching your video and getting the hang of it. Old style spin on filters much easier to change without all the extra process and what happened to filter locations accessible from the top? Oh yes, transmission oil change, there is no dipstick! My old code reader couldn't read temperature which required for the tranny oil change. Got the Xtool D7 that could, more compatibilities and options than I ever needed.

    Good video for where to position the jack stands and how to properly lift the car. Dealers just cannot be trusted as they charge you for premium synthetic oil but use regular oil and worse, may not even change your engine oil but charge you for it, yes, there are dealers out there that do this, but not all dealers are stealer. ;-)
