I've had an FS85 for about 23+ years and they are pretty tough things. Work done to mine over 23 years has been replacing spark plugs , air filter, fuel pickup filter, greasing cutter gearbox drive, fuel lines, fuel cap retaining cord and 2 carb rebuilds.

Ok I was shocked to see how clean your throttle body is. I’m having this issue now. I think I’m gonna replace it. A 50/50 chance of it working!! Thank you for this video

Thanks. It has been a while I and I have to rebuild my deck as the spindles are shot. I had no idea you could simply pop the belt keeper off the chassis, I am always fiddling with the bolt on the other side. Great video, short and no heavy metal (or banjo) musik!

What you do with the air ride hose connection? No light on dash because it’s disconnected?

My Stihl dealer "suggested" that I remove the arrestor and YANK off the worthless screen with some pliers - yup THAT fixed it - FOREVER!

thats the same thing mechanic told me that u cnt do it by urself that i need to calibrate it code it bla bla ?? is that true or just replacing it can work? coz he is asking me to pay 600$ for that

9/10 it's the spark arrestor in the exhaust. Use 15 mm socket to remove it and clean the screen. Put it back in and she'll go like the clappers 😂

I wish I had seen this sooner.... I tapped so hard on the front of the unit (to get the display back) that it cracked the face plate. But it's not too noticeable. I doubt that just the plastic face is replaceable (or even available if it is). Now I have a project for this afternoon. :^)

I have a fs85 given to me. The exhaust side of the piston is scored. How’s this yamazon special holding up. I’m debating doing this or buying a used oem off eBay for $50

My daughters car has the same thing happen, We have replaced the fuel pump in tank, high pressure fuel regulator, spark plugs, And still no change. Thank you for making it easy to follow with your video. I’m ready to tackle this. 👍🏻. Now, what can I do afterwards to clear/ erase the codes, if I don’t have that code reader?

you did forget to put some oil on the air filter foam part . I cannot believe how dirty some people leave their mowers get , but yep their cars are as clean as a whistle . Is it a man thing . I ama 71 year old woman and my 2016 and 2022 cub cadets are clean and so is my truck . Only thing I went farther with my mowers is a put slip plate graphite under my mower deck to keep the grass from sticking as much . My son owns a trowing company and puts it on his flatbed tow trucks . 4 coats does it and I left each coat dry for 24 hours . I also with all the dirty crappy gas biden is buying is change my fuel pump and my fuel filter more often and add ethanol treatment to my gas . I also buy the paper fuel cleaners that i pour my gas when I buy it from gas station . I por it from one can to ther and sometimes even that does ot help .

Noticed “watery” oil last change… went to start a minute ago and definitely hydrolocked. Moved it by hand and just dumping gas out of muffler.

On any new lawn equipment take off muffler gut it. Buy the special tools to adjust carb. Thanks epa 😂

I have that exact same saw. Good video but may I add that suggesting to clean in the bar grooves with a small flathead screwdriver before installing the new chain is beneficial . I actually use a cable(zip) tie most times lol.
