Re Uncovering a Dimetrodon Skeleton
Переглядів 51Рік тому
Hey guys! This early spring Chris found a partially articulated Dimetrodon skeleton. That was the last time we were able to come out due to rain in the spring and heat. Soooo because of the rain the skeleton got buried with mud. Now the temperatures are cooling we are ready to start working on the skeleton again. Stay tuned for more fossil updates now that our dig season is now starting! - Holly

Kudos!😄The Permian is highly underrated imo. Found you on TikTok before the Blip. I’ve loved paleontology since I was a kid, Holly collecting fossils, and going on digs. When our son was young I gave talks to his early grade classes on dinosaurs, and fossils, and brought a lot of fossil, and cast materials from my library to pass around for the talk!😅When I took marine biology as science elective at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago I was the only student to get 100% as the test was a collection of fossils representing the various living animal groups from lecture. Anyways- pleasure to meet you. I don’t really post here, but if the ban goes in effect I may choose to do so!😄 Sincerely- Jameson

Is it possible that Dimetrodon's sail was supporting a fatty hump like a camel? Obviously camels don't have any bone structure there, but it sounds plausible in my head.

The only other paleontologist without a degree I've heard of is Dean Lomax from England (Author of 'Locked in Time'), he eventually got a masters from his research. It's remarkable in the late 20th century/21st century to have such a career with no degree, especially being an assistant director of a museum. My goal is to just find my first fossil, lol, and all we have where I am are three types of early Ordovician Dolomite, so I've been studying that calcium carbonates and Ordovician alot.
