Ford 300 six build- first run
Переглядів 84 тис.12 років тому
This is the initial run of my 300 six build. It's got a Clifford intake, 500 cfm Edelbrock 4 barrel, Crane 901 torque cam, split EFI manifolds, Cloyes adjustable timing set in advanced position, 9.0:1 compression with ~.038 quench, mild port, smoothed chambers with clearance around exhaust valve and all necessary machine work. Should be approaching 400 lb ft torque.

    Raced the Mach lll Kawasaki 500 in 1972 at Lassiter Mountain Dragway for the whole 72 season. Mine was the Red 1970.1/2 year model. Won every race that year and was put up against many brand bikes. What an awesome Motorcycle (good luck) , in my early 70's now and still think about that Kawasaki everyday!!!!

    Someone like Allen Millyard should stick 2 of these engines together so you have a CBX style 6 cylinder 2 stroke!

    I had a friend that had one of theses bikes back in the day! It was fast!!!

    • @fomocoguy
      @fomocoguy 6 місяців тому

      What’s fun with these is that they really feel fast, even if not so much by today’s standards. After I owned my H2 I had a 1982 or 83 GPZ1100. It was faster, but calm and smooth in demeanor; unlike the H2 which was kicking and screaming and dragging you along for the ride 😆

    What from axle did you use?

    • @fomocoguy
      @fomocoguy 2 роки тому

      It’s the factory axle. I found a lift kit for 2wd rangers that people use when building a pre-runner style truck. I just used the front axle components and left out the rear lift, which was just an add a leaf anyways.

    What did you set timing at? Did you disconnect vac advance or did you time it at total timing? I setmine to 6* btdc then add a couple I'm at around 7-8 * btdc and a total timming of 30ish *

    Would love to know how this held up and how much it cost to build. Did it ever see a dyno? I just picked up a 95 F150 with a 300 and while I would love to copy this build I'm sure 9 won't be able to for a while. Love to hear some more info.

    Adjusting timing while leaning over an open carb is not the wisest thing you've ever done I'm sure. You were just a degree or two from having eyeballs full of fire instead of raw gas there... Burn marks use to be how you could tell a chevy guy from a Ford or Dodge guy...

    Your 300 is cool. I'm looking forward to starting my first I6 this year. I'd like to do a 300, but I think 230 will be what I do. Your trash can radiator is epic. I've never seen that done before. Does it work well? What kind of bulkhead fittings did you use to attach the hoses to the can?
