McConnell Air Force Base air show 09-24-22 open house and airshow. A hot and sunny day made it difficult for all the right shots and being comfortable, and ya I might have panned around fast sometimes too. Kinda disappointed that the Kansas Aviation Museum was "closed for a private party" and not open to the public.

Not a good tour if you have very young kids!
Was this Friday? I was in the same area on sunday lol
Yes, I could only attend Friday, and Saturday.
@cspowell420 Saturday I was budweiser stands. Good footage btw :)
@@rexman971 Thank you! It was my first time at Norwalk, What a awesome place! I was in the Champion stands.
@cspowell420 glad you liked it! Maybe next year we can meet up haha
b 50 j saved america many days i was there.
Was this accessible to the public back then? I heard that they're all privately owned now.
Most of the locations around Lawrence and Topeka have changed ownership a few times. As far as I know they were really never open to the public, and really pretty dangerous to explore unless your familiar with the layout.
@cspowell420 I see. I went to the one in Worden 4 months ago, and no one was there, so I must've been lucky. Was worth it to see the full yellow launching gear, but I definitely won't be going to any more of them now.
@@oni5230 That’s cool you got to see one. Was it flooded? That Warden site is kind of special. They had some kind of failure with the missile and fueling that made the missile collapse. I believe that location was active with no missile for a while before it was deactivated.
@cspowell420 oh yes it was quite flooded. The water reached out probably 25 feet from that door and it was a few feet deep right under the door. Would be cool to see it now after all the rain we just got. It sure is a special place.
the b36 thats in side now used to sit on the corner of woodman an airway ...
its not in dayton ..its in the city of riverside if you go to dayton you will not find it
@@animalcorvair I added the actual google address I used to get there. Dayton….Riverside….I think people know where it is. Thanks for watching!
I drive these roads all the time and I'm always tempted to use their portable toilets because there is no restrooms for like a 90 mile stretch there.
@@zacherysittner9594 OMG Now thats funny! I’m sure they wouldn’t care….lol
The water pits are for waste water
Юра мы всё проебали...
I have a buddy that was part of the ICBM security task force at Warren AFB. They usually fly out via helicopter, do quite a bit of training. Only thing that gets through the fence are rabits and other small rodents like Prarie dogs. Pretty cool to see an up close look at the fences. Tread carefully haha
Im not sure if you can even get into this place anymore because of all the damn construction. I was in the north side once before it got closed down but never got to see the rest of this place. Glad i was able to see it on this video.
I wish I could have explored this place. I’m sure now you drive by and you would barely recognize it….
@cspowell420 There was a lot left to explore Indeed. Now you can't even get to it because that road has restricted access, and they're also making it 4 lanes, so the whole place looks and feels completely different. I don't think anyone will ever be able to get into it again because of how much more populated the area is now. You would definitely get caught. The only way would be to hop a gate at one of the southern entrances at night, and even that is almost just as questionable.
@@oni5230 Ya I would say all the cool hazardous things to see are gone. It was supposed to be a World of Oz theme park, I wonder if that sign is still at the entrance we’re the water towers are. I just need to do another drive around video and check it out.
@cspowell420 very interesting, where exactly was the sign and how long ago did you see it? I never noticed it. I live close to it, so I might check it out again soon and see if i can find it. Also, I believe they're going to be building 3 or 4 more warehouses/factories there by 2028 so they're going to level the entire place.
@@oni5230 I think in my SAP video I may have shot it. It was at the main entrance. The wood sign back then was very difficult to make out but it was there! This is something cool I found “The plant went on to churn out ammo for three wars, leaving a toxic wasteland in its wake. Over the years developers promised to clean it up for all sorts of endeavors: a bioscience lab, shops and homes, and even a “Wizard of Oz” theme park. Planners hoped that the Wonderful World of Oz resort and theme park would be unlike any other - but some questioned whether its founder could pull it off. In late 2001, Johnson County commissioners killed the Oz idea. The resort was planned for the former Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant near De Soto, Kansas.”
Really Great walk-around filming detailed.

It is located on a grassy area on the right side of the building were the antennas and other sensors are.

When I was hauling hay in North Dakota, I stumbled across a few missle sites. Pretty wild, never seen one before.
The cluster of sites in that ND area all surround Minot AFB. The area spans to the Canada border down to almost I-94.
@@cspowell420 Found some sites farther south also.
@@markdanielczyk944 South of I94? The only other cluster I am aware of near there is in western SD. There is also a decommissioned group of Minuteman sites on the east side of ND.
@@cspowell420 Those might be what I'm thinking of, still fenced in and being maintained. 🤔
Mcconnell AFB
We went to Whiteman before COVID. We were amazed how much it had changed. We had old pre WW II buildings and inferior equipment to deal with. But we all got the job done. We are very proud of our service. We were betrayed by politicians who got rid of the missiles. The politicians claimed the Cold War was over and the Peace Dividend was on us. They lied. We were safer with the missiles. Now our enemies are all around us and trying their best to destroy us. Those missiles represented freedom.
Used to go visit the B-36 out at Greater Southwest/Amon Carter... rode our bicycles from Euless. Glad to see it has a good home in Pima, one of my bucket list items... been to many other museums except this one!
Actually coming up to those gates is how they all were made… i dont know about the “rare” thing you speak of.
I guess I was meaning that I was surprised that it was so well intact. Most other MAF locations I have visited have been in poor shape probably due to vandalism.
@cspowell420 oh I understand. It was awesome footage. Man that place brought back so many memories.
@@MeSiah1S Thank you for your “silent” service sir! It sure was cool visiting this place again after it was turned into a museum.
@cspowell420 thank you, it was tough to rewatch. I was the victim to the fool who stole all the weapons out of the facility just before 9/11... 9/11 over shadow the event. For good reason but space command went to threatcon they called it bravo.

Whiteman AFB 1983-87...Primary Oscar Crew 85-87. Miss the Cold War...men were men, women were women, commies were commies, and Joe Biden was a relatively ignored/obscure senator from Delaware...
he needs to speak up!
Curious to know who owns the abandoned location off of CR89 south of CR134 north of Grover CO. Still very intact but fully abandoned.
That location is a old Atlas E site (566-5), Deactivated March 1965. I'm sure if you did more digging you could find out the owner. When they got decommissioned the land was sometimes returned to the farmers.
@@cspowell420 wow you have so much info about these sites!
@@coloradoraptorguy9250 do your research on the layout of an Atlas E site for your safety, but I would go check it out and make a video! Get permission first…😉

It's crazy to think that whole place has changed tremendously in the past 7 months
Most of my shorts is on that place
You ain’t kidding! Even Google maps shows major cleanup. For years I wanted to explore that place but never did….
@@Tatterchip have you seen that vintage film about the plant here on UA-cam? An interesting watch.
@@cspowell420 no kidding! We've been drilling out there for 7 going on 8 months now an place has changed tremendously all the buildings beyond the gate we ain't allowed to go to nor pick up anything we find railroad spikes or anything it's crazy to think a 300 acre building is gonna be there.
I'm going to miss them going to Baytown Tx for the Spring Nationals
This is the most realistic audio of a fuel car I've ever heard. Nothing is like being there but this is pretty close.
Thanks for watching! It was recorded using IPhone X I believe. They are special seats that are angled to look down the track, maybe that’s the difference?
I am a former MCCC in the 510th SMS at Oscar 01, 1977-1981. I think I know Marty Harrison. We won the Cold War! I served on 292 alerts. My wife and l visited Oscar 01 in 2009.
Sgt. very good tour. However, you did not talk about the unique feature of the 510th SMS: The Emergency Rocket Communication System (ERCS). Members of the 510th could record the war message from the Primary Alerting System then launch a missile with the ERCS on it. It would communicate the war message to bombers and submarines. The missiles flew East and West. Dr. George Ferguson, MCC Commander, O-01, 510th SMS, 351st SMW, 1977-1981. Hands on keys. Time on target. Nuc 'em 'till they glow.

How in the world does the SAC museum not have a B-47? Even the USAF Armament Museum at Elgin AFB has one!

Love this Phish music that starts a little after 5 minute mark in the video
Happy you enjoyed the moment, thanks for watching!
Most sites were built in the middle of nowhere. Security probably didn't come till past the fence or a sign that says restricted area.
I'm surprised that 10 army cops didn't show up
It's not army police that show up It's a set of heavily armed soldiers called Solitary Sentinels that protect our nuclear weapons at all costs , if they see a real threat occurring such as if someone is trying to get into the silo then the sentinels will shoot and kill the threat but if the person backs down and does what they say then they won't shoot they'll only detain them and take them to the federal police for prison time.
Piece of junk radar detector you have
Yes it is....The best $20 i have spent to help avoid tickets.
@@cspowell420 I hear that. Just got a hold of a Uniden R8. Best thing I've ever used. Incredible range. 🤘
@@V1AbortV2 Uniden is killer stuff, I have owned several Uniden police scanners back in the day....
God I love em
Very interesting. A little disconcerting that you are able to get so close so easily, but I didn't see any "keep away" or "no pictures" signs. Maybe they need a wider area fenced off, but that would be very expensive I'm sure considering how many missiles are out there.
It's not like the missiles are accessible. They are down a concrete tube with a steel blast door weighing dozens of tons on top.
@@DrewWithington The launcher closure is a sliding cover, not a door. It weighs 110 tons.
I love at 4:36 that corny music starts playing to add a tid bit of cool man factor for the approach.
