These Artificial Colors Destroy Your Children's Health
In this episode, we dive into the science behind synthetic food dyes and their potential neurobehavioral effects on children. Are these eye-catching colors harmless fun or a hidden risk? We’ll explore the strengths and weaknesses of the studies examining this connection, comparing lab-tested doses to real-world exposure levels. What long-term impacts might repeated exposure have? How do factors like genetics, biomarkers, and socioeconomic status shape children’s responses to these dyes? Plus, we trace the history of food dye regulation, dissect how acceptable daily intakes (ADIs) were established, and question whether current guidelines truly safeguard children’s health. Join us for a colorful conversation that’s more than meets the eye!

What They Don't Tell You About The Power of Hugging
Переглядів 6152 місяці тому
How does social touch, like hugging, impact our stress levels? Could a simple hug actually shield us from the negative effects of conflict or even help ward off illness? In this episode we discuss two studies: one dives into whether hugging can act as a stress buffer, potentially reducing susceptibility to colds. Another explores how embraces between romantic partners affect stress hormones, fi...
Most People Don't Realize This Is On The Moon
Переглядів 1632 місяці тому
Imagine a network of underground tunnels on the Moon, hidden from view and potentially large enough to house entire cities. These tunnels, known as lava tubes, were formed by ancient volcanic activity and offer a tantalising glimpse into the Moon's fiery past. But could these subterranean spaces also hold the key to a future human presence on the Moon? What secrets do they hold within their dar...
Your Toothbrush Is Teeming With Hundreds of Viruses
Переглядів 1,1 тис.2 місяці тому
Over 600 different types of viruses that infect bacteria have been discovered on toothbrushes and showerheads, with many of them being entirely new to science. You keep your toothbrush in the bathroom, but have you ever considered what else might be living on it besides bacteria? What if hundreds of different viruses were also calling your toothbrush home? Scientists from Northwestern Universit...
These 3 Deadly Trends Boost Hurricane Power
Переглядів 4223 місяці тому
Climate change, driven by anthropogenic global warming due to greenhouse gas emissions, is unequivocally impacting hurricanes. Studies using climate models, such as those from the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP), and statistical hurricane models, such as the Risk Analysis Framework for Tropical Cyclones (RAFT), reveal potential changes in various hurricane metrics. While there is n...
Humans Age Dramatically at 44 and at 60
Переглядів 9923 місяці тому
Several new studies are challenging the traditional view of ageing as a gradual, linear process. They suggest that ageing occurs in bursts, with significant molecular changes happening at two specific ages, around 44 and 60. These shifts correlate with known increases in the risk of certain age-related illnesses, such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and kidney problems. These findin...
This is the largest brain map ever drawn
Переглядів 7 тис.3 місяці тому
A team of over 287 scientists across the globe have mapped every neuron in the brain of an adult fruit fly, marking the first complete map of an adult animal's brain. This unprecedented map, detailing the connections between all 139,255 neurons, reveals fascinating similarities and differences between fly and human brains at the level of neural connections. The research suggests that despite di...

I can not stand that kind of disingenuous banter. it is a repulsive facsimile of human conversation.

Yeah it was kinda annoying, not that a genuine podcast topic or a literature review in a live video format being read like a daily newspaper story would make it better... Idk, I'm just more fascinated by the visuals they prepared...or shared.

They do glitch out here and there. But I think overall they do a great job with this podcast format, it's a great way to absorb complex information in a more accessible way compared to trying to decipher cryptic science papers that only people in the field understand.

@@SynthRockViking I do, I want less technology and more humanity. Tech to improve our lives, not to talk to us. That is the definition of an AI dystopia to me, we are jumping on this bandwagon, not really questioning if this is what we truly need as leaders of earth.
