I still own my original hand built Sims skateboard Tom built. It was given to me by my brother Terry Nails.

Me and my extended family are related to Tom Sims. We use to have an uncle Chargles (WWI) that had a hand that shaked that would always give us free stuff for Sims (Pure Juice) when we were growing up. We got skateboards, rollerskates, tons of stickers and cloths. My mom married Robert Zimmerman. Tom lived in Santa Barbra three houses down from Brad Pitt. My sister visited him before he died and got a chance to meet Brad on the beach four wheeling. My step dad said the Sims famiy always took care and helped the family. They offered me and others in the family if we would like to be sales reps for Sims anywhere in the world. Step dad said the last person choose Swiss Alps. I always wanted the snowboard but never got it. I just reciently purchesed my first Sims snowboard and boots for my young daughter. I was told that after the second divorce Sims (Tom) felt everyone in the family turned on him for money and he kind of just shut them out but a few. Robert was one that he kept. Well, that is my Tom Sims story. I hope to continue to live it out in my family through Tom. God bless you guys. Love Michael

I had one of the new Sims snowboard at this time also I remember going to Mike chantrys .with.a bunch of.skaters.mike took the ones with some.boards.up in the backwoods of king MT.. we rode.some jumps built. And went through gullies trees.2ft 3ft. Fresh powder.

Ricordo quegli anni ed i precedenti, ricordo il "Bonasson" che ci vide sk8tare alla pista di pattinaggio di Arcore, andò a casa e tronò con una serie di jump, rail, e wall che trasformarono quel piattume in uno skatepark! Bei tempi, era il 1990...

I came here just to see Tom again and to hear his voice. He was someone who knew truly knew how to enjoy life. A happy, loving, talented, creative wonderful man. I don't think I ever cried so hard in my life as when I found out he had passed away. I miss you, Tom.

Sims invented the snowboard in shop class at Haddonfield Junior High School when he and I were in 7th grade. I was in that shop class and rode his earliest designs at Tavistock Country Club and elsewhere. They were shaped like a thick skateboard deck with beveled edges, carpet glued on top and ski wax on the bottom. Fast as hell in a straight line but when you turned, you kept going straight. Tom's solution was to stretch a piece of bicycle tire inner tube about 45 degrees from edge to edge and tack down the ends. Slip you feet under the rubber and the snowboard was born! Burton? A total poser!
