Bike Lanes destroy City
Переглядів 1,1 тис.2 місяці тому
Bike Lanes ruin cities and family owned businesses that need street parking and affordable housing apartments need street parking and these take them away. Bikers also hit pedestrians and never follow the rules of the road. The businesses are going out of business. The people are moving. The condos are coming with even less parking. WTF. #bikes #parking #toronto #joshmatlow @CouncillorJoshMatlow

You did an awesome job on this role! I hope ur able to do more voicing 4 the show!
There should be an award for how many innuendoes you can packed into 1 22.
hahahah
shes so cute
She is.
This could be a crime scene ala Dexter galore.
And there's more crap where that came from. Bloor Street West near Jane. What a nightmare. I have friends who live there. They told me it now takes 45 mins to get to work due to making it a single lane and including bike lanes, but it used to take 9 mins. And they said they saw an Ambulance stuck in traffic in that single lane. Well...there was no room for cars to get out of its way. Thanks City of Toronto. You might kill somebody.
One thing people here keep referring to is EU and particularly Amsterdam. Here's NEWS for y'all. THIS AIN'T AMSTERDAM. THIS AIN'T NEVER GONNA BE AMSTERDAM. The only thing this city has in common with Amsterdam are all the weed stores on every corner. That and the RED LIGHT DISTRICT but that's just my bedroom on a good weekend.
Just came home after seeing an Amazing jazz singer on Bloor St. West near Jane. She sang at a fab Indian restaurant and she lives in that hood. That hood was once a thriving happening place with PARKING all along the street and places to put their cars before going into bars, restaurants and shopping. NOT ANYMORE. WHY? CUZ OF THE BIKE LANES. I asked the people at the restaurant who are regulars what they thought. "It used to take me 9 mins to get to work, and now it takes me 45mins tks to the bike lanes and reduced lanes for cars." There's literally no place to park except for 3 cars and then a green P down the block and around the corner and none for blocks and blocks after that. The people also said, "When there's an ambulance, there's no way to get thru to the hospital cuz there's only ONE LANE NOW. And there's no where for the cars to pull over to get out of their way." I said: "Whomever voted for this monstrosity of a situation with bike lanes and cutting away an extra lane for cars and no parking, they should be in that ambulance waiting and waiting in traffic and then they might understand what they've voted for, what they've arranged. And the view from the large front window used to be a grand art deco cinema. Now it's a huge condo site to go along with the 3 other condo sites, blocking views and congesting the area. I can only guess how much money these privately owned businesses are losing. GEEZ THANKS TORONTO FOR NOTHING. It's gone to the dogs. BARK BARK.
Yesterday I watched a bus passenger get off the bus which is alongside the bike lane and a cyclist kept riding without stopping (no surprise there) and the passenger was watching her step so that she doesn't trip and they collided. No one was hurt. But mark my words. Passengers on buses and cyclists/motorbikes should never share a lane at any point.
After going into the stores along Eglinton between Allen and Avenue Rd. most store owners which are owned privately, are complaining about how Eglinton has become with gridlock, adding to the pollution and the anger levels of cyclists and drivers. And now the bike lanes??? It's an urban nightmare.
And this happens every day, alllll day. Some City Planning. Bark Bark.
"They have done it on Yonge. In front of my building. HATE IT!!!"
Thanks Leatrice. I see you live in a nearby hood with the same insane system. I went to Yonge St and Davisville the other day and it was horrible and my uber couldn't park anywhere which almost caused an accident. I walked home instead of risking a problem.
That's an AMAZING video, Marla. Worthy of featured status on ANY Toronto news hour. It's also amazing to me that the city doesn't anticipate or give any priority to these so obvious problems that will be the result of these, "enhancements and changes". Be grateful that so much of the eventual "Crosstown" is underground. I live on St. Clair where they didn't anticipate (or don't care) that the streetcar right of way is set up with no mitigation for the fact that there are so many intersections between areas like Dufferin to Bathurst where streetcars often have to stop at a red light, with an actual streetcar stop on the other side of the intersection. 2 for 1 at so many intersections. For that, two lanes of traffic were consumed. Couldn't they at least have set up the traffic lights so they don't change when a streetcar is within that block? Does the city pay any attention at all, when they pretend to ask "What do you think of this?" to the local residents?
Thanks Rob, for your comment. I knew I wasn't alone on this issue. Clearly the store owners who were there that day, spoke up. Now you have too. ANd yes, St. Clair is quite another issue of insanity.
Just had two people who walked from Avenue Rd. to Bathurst St. stop me on the street and told me the changes are crazy bad and insane. And it keeps on coming. All you tree french kissers complaining to me that this is great and change is great and we should be like Amsterdam. You must be from the group of whining Kevins.
Boomers gonna boom
wait so u were the voice actress in the show???
All the fools in the comments who didn't bother to investigate further and realize she's a comedian. Smh
@perfectperfecto Yes I'm A comedian by trade with many other talents but I'm also an on camera reporter and did it on cbc years ago and I mean what I say when it comes to bike lanes and taking away parking and I'm solid on this subject. I've lived in this city long enough to watch Toronto go down the drain. People are writing me and texting and emailing with their horror stories of how these changes have impacted their lives. And I listen to people who tell me their stories of their lives and their businesses and the man made obstacles that keep increasing in this city that was once a great one and no longer. I'm listening to them. This city and it's govt of this country are not. And that's no joke.
Read it and weep.
i admire how confidently wrong you are. i hope to one day possess the same level of ignorant bravery.
You just did bro... welcome. Ignorant and brave. Name calling huh? I know you are but what am I...
Delivery services complaining there's no legal place to park to get vital goods to customers. Post Office Trucks, Amazon, UPS, and think about those who can't get out of the house or those who cannot ride a bike. It's the majority that drive cars. It's the minority that bike and most don't follow the law. I'm good with adjusting the sidewalks to accommodate wheelchair access but cutting off a lane and taking away parking is insane. Let the bikes share the lanes with wheelchairs and then they might behave themselves.
So stupid
Just got a powerful message from a woman who has a bad knee and cannot ride a bike and is independant and needs her car to get her errands done including grocery shopping and supplies for her home. And she needs to park somewhere. She asked me, why are store owners tolerating this? She suggested that there be a REVOLT. I 100% agree. Canadians are notorious for being silent when it comes to local govt making decisions that ruin the lives of the public much like all of the developers meetings and still they put up these monstrous condo clusters and take away what was once a great hood. Like Yonge and Eglinton. Now that there is more homeless and more criminals and more unemployed immigrants living on the sidewalks, and winter is coming, more are coming into the mall there so the decision has been made to shut the mall down and lock it at 9pm. Well, that solves the problem of stopping letting in people to live inside the hallways and malls and use the bathrooms for drugs and god knows what else. But how about all of the people who bought condos connecting the mall to the subway that you protesters keep saying we should take the subway. And the apartment buildings also connected to the hallways that lead to the subway entrances. How about taking all of those construction funds that have ruined Eglinton, and reverse the street back to street parking and stores can flourish, and postal trucks can park and amazon trucks can park and deliver things to people who cannot go out, nor carry loads of supplies. Take those funds and build an affordable apartment building with social workers on site and mental health workers on site and screen people and set up hope and stability and a clean home and kick out all drug addicts and criminal activity. Get a new home for the criminals. It's called Prison. We have several. Get the addicts to CAMH. That's an addiction home. TORONTO CITY COUNCIL, get your crap together.
This is a war on people. Small businesses are hurting. Commuters are hurting. Emergency vehicles can't move. Disabled and older people who drive or use drivers can't park close to their destinations. It's ruining the city. And prove it to me that this saves the environment. A cabal of cyclists have taken over city hall.
You call yourself an "entertainer", but you're just a f***ing loser that lacks any critical thought, get a life NIMBY and crawl out of your cave
Americans and their car addiction... You've been brainwashed by the automotive industry. The best cities are those that actually have proper infrastructure for multiple forms of transport, including bikes. And while it's possible that the current design is flawed you can't just knock out a better infrastructure quickly, it takes time.
Oh cry me a fucking river. Maybe you should realize that not everyone needs a car, especially in a large city. The entitlement is off the charts!
I don't even live in Canada, weird that I got recommended this on the youtube homepage. Maybe you nailed the algorithm?
also i love that you literally have no evidence beyond anecdotal heresay
Not to mention, business owners severely underestimate how much of their customer base travels to their business without a car. They have a poor sense of how walkability impacts their business
dear Kevin stop pouting and watch the testimony. but you know that. NOthing on my tape is hearsay. I just have more things to do than you obviously do, or Id get a document together of signatures and contacts for you but you arent that important.
Sids Cleaners and Ferraro Restaurant owners were happy to be on camera. Look up hearsay in the dictionary. I guess you didn't or you would know that the real person on camera talking is not hearsay. DAHHHHHH. SHTOINK!
NIMBY personified
did you come out of the school of whining kevins? wait, you need to go back to your Mommy and check this out.
What's wrong with the condos? Also if "family-owned" stores aka definitely not money laundering fronts are going to lose their businesses over this, then they should be priced out by more competent businesses. That's capitalism in action.
i love condos but not in exchange for what was once a great neighbourhood of thriving private family owned businesses instead of postage stamped sized condos that cost as much as houses in toronto for congested elevator rides and the parking lots are similar to the pearson airport congestion not to mention the dead zones for interest service and the lack of humidity control. Just left a condo. These were the problems and i was told, "its condo living, get used to it". Nah. You live there.
@@MarlaLukofsky7 Internet dead zones and humidity control don't apply to every condo. And also what is the issue with their pricing? If people are willing to pay for it then they should price them as much as they want. That's called supply and demand.
@@MasterExploder61 That's very true Master Exploder. btw, is that your nickname based on how you have sex? anyway..And as far as the pricing goes, its just as you say, if people are willing to pay 800K for a postage stamp space then let them. It's the supply and demand of the public. Exactly. I do know of much larger condos built 30 years ago and maintained and have something called SPACE and square footage but the location isn't downtown. oh dear. The more people buy those things, the more they will be built. If you build it, they will come. And now some buildings aren't selling out anymore. But the Chinese are. And they know how to do business and they put their kids in there so they can get a Canadian education, ahem, but anyway..I agree with you Master Exploder.
Nothing is wrong with Condos. I LOVE condos. I think it's the smartest way to live. Makes life easy especially in this climate. It has its pros and its cons just like houses do. Oy. I would never live in a house. I just wish they were more spread out in condo land is all and a little larger in square footage. And a separate entrance and exit for the parking underground. Only special buildings have that and its a blessing. As far as your comment about Family owned businesses, and having spoken to 3 more today on Eglinton, they are all successful and they all DISAGREE with you. And that is democracy, capitalism, and freedom. I listen to my friends who own their condos and those who rent condos and those who buy them and sell them. I listen. This city doesn't listen. That's my point to all of it. But not only do I listen. I go to their places and I see the great things and experience the not so great things. And that maintenance thing and the board and the investment companies have to be VERY VERY GOOD or you may end up in the building with a deficit. NOT GOOD for resale. Right now btw, my friends who moved out and bought a house told me their condo has lost value and its in a great area next to a subway and a supermarket and et al. But values are down on condos. So...maybe good to live in if run well but not good currently for investors. Yes, I talk to real estate investors too. i get around.
One serious problem with condos is the clustering of them thanks to city planners and profit makers. A square block of land that consumes thousands of people coming and going with bikes, cars, feet, hands, in a small block like Wilson Heights for example, the traffic and pollution is now insane. And that route leads to the Allen and going north and the 401, but now it's a parking lot waiting on Wilson most of the time. They are doing the same thing near Centre St and Bathurst and they've totally done it near Fort York. What a monstrosity. Hard to see the sun light. Can't see the lake anymore unless you go right up to its shore. They're doing it now at Marlee and Glencairn. ANd they are continuing it at Dufferin and Lawrence. Yonge and Eglinton is a disaster of a hood. It used to be nice, easy, fun. Once again Neighbourhood stores are closing down. Whether it be due to being bought out by developers or just lacking in parking for their customers, I don't know cuz they are gone, boarded up windows, just waiting for the carcass to be eaten.
Then a friend called me and told me their friend who lives on Bayview ssaid they are putting bike lanes on their street and it's stopping his business and it's terrible with no parking. That is his livelyhood. I told her, "Watch my video on UA-cam and tell me what you think." She watched it and said, "I agree with you 100% and so do my friends who have shops on these major streets where parking is being replaced with bike lanes.
I was at my drugstore today. The post office truck driver delivery and pick up person came in. They said, :what the hell is going on on this street? I can't park my truck to do pick ups. What is this city thinking. The driving outside is a disaster." THen they looked at me and said, "What do you think?" And I said, "Watch my video I agree with you 100%."
You know who's more likely to spontaneously drop into a small business and spend money there? A pedestrian or a biker who has no problem quickly stopping. Do you know who's less likely to do the same? An SUV driver who has to circle the block to find a parking spot
Absolutely bullsxxt. I'm a biker. And I hate bike lanes. And the bike hookups are often all taken or crowded by guess what, selfish other bikers who dont hook up in a space friendly way. Look at Bloor St. Annex. Disgusting bike hookups. And honestly most people who do bike, can't afford to buy much and certainly not keep stores alive on Eglinton. No offense. But take it if you need to. And if you need to buy enough for a dinner party, if you have friends that is, you can't fit it all on your bike, oh wait, leave the liquor from the LCBO in your carriage and walk into the fruit store and if you're lucky, someone will take your booze and partay without you and you can eat your fruit by yourself.
@@MarlaLukofsky7 You're making a bunch of emotional arguments that aren't rooted in evidence. Bikers and pedestrians DO spend more on their local businesses, and I'm surprised that you've never heard of a pannier bag as a supposed cyclist. Heck, I've even seen cargo bikes where I am in NYC where a mom can bike her kids around or carry a very big load. But you keep arguing against this boogeyman of outlawing cars. Nobody is looking to ban cars, but apparently you think that there should be no other way to get around town than sit in a car. I looked at Bloor St. Annex, and there's still plenty of space dedicated to car drivers who are more likely than not spending less than the pedestrians and bikers on the street, while the sidewalks and bike lanes cost considerably less to maintain than roads.
please tell me this is satire
are you some type of whining kevin or what?
Car brain Karen
spoken from the lips of whining poor baby kevin school of hard jerks not getting enough mic time.
Every dollar i dont spend on gasoline is a dollar i spend and ma and pops business. My bike never got stuck in traffic. Maybe you should go for a bike ride, let some of that stress out.
Hey Kevin. Your bike never got stuck in traffic cuz you break every law of the road and i've got reels of tape to show that. I'm probably the last of the bikers to actually stop at a stop sign and stop at a red light. Then Im hit and assaulted by other bikers who dont. I bike often. Thanks. I'm looking for a place for us to meet up. Mt. Pleasant Cemetery is a good place. We can pick out our plots there. There's room for two more. Sounds cozy to me. Probably the best date you've ever had.

All the way baby. Blue on Blue. Heartache on Heartache. Blue on Blue. Now that we are thru. Blue on Blue. heartache on heartache. I've been blue ever since I got resuscitated at birth. How 'bout you.
@@MarlaLukofsky7 to be fair, I am more for public transit in general, it’s just not always available or accessible. I live in a major metropolitan area and we don’t even have sidewalks in some areas so people would have to bike in the street which is legal, but everyone gets mad. So then I switched to a motorcycle or transit if it rains. You should bring this up at city council if it’s really that bad in your area. They just do stuff like this for numbers. Be well
@@evenoddprime As I've mentioned, I too am a cyclist but I follow the laws of the road. Most don't and I never like to use bike lanes because of the lawlessness of most cyclists. They have injured my body. Cars so far have not. i also drive when needed, and I also walk when I can. Sidewalks are seriously needed in all hoods. There's no reason to get mad at a bike if its on the street following rules and regs. Our transit system is horrific for a modern city. It's actually a joke worldwide. If the public transit as in subways underground were as extensive as NYC, I'd use it all the time. Even Los Angeles has better Subways than Toronto. If it rains, i would totally take the alternative as you did and do. Take care. And tks for your comment.
Please make an update in a year or two from now, I will be curious what people think at that time.
These changes happened to Bloor St. West Village a few years ago. I can tell you now that the feelings against the single lanes and bike lanes are even stronger from the vendors, store owners and residence and I know this because I go to their establishments and ask them. They hate it. It's ruined their income. The residents hate it. It's ruined their ability to do what they used to do with their senior parents and physically challenged relatives and friends as well as themselves getting to work taking much longer and traffic and pollution have just ruined their once serene hood. At least on St. Clair West, they still allow the parking on the street but for how long. I personally stop going to anyone who cannot provide parking and as my post said, plenty of people on the patio at Starbucks said they hate this and no longer frequent Eglinton nearly as much and now that this is happening, it's as two store owners said, going to be a disaster and already is. It doesnt stop the traffic. It just concentrates it. I've spoken to plenty of peeps. I've had people stop me on the street to tell me they support my video because I'm saying what most people don't have the guts to say. Most people wont take the time to write on UA-cam but they contact me on my fb page and message me. This city is going to the dogs. In a quick downward spiralling swirl. And it's all with taxpayers money. Not to help homeless but to take away affordable housing and have people live in the parks, or have long term care issues due to cyclists hitting them on sidewalks or on streets while racing thru red lights. Disaster long term just like radiation after testing the atomic bombs. Years later the waste and disease is there and apparent. that's what has begun and it will be so much worse. It doesn't even make sense to have a bike lane on the passenger side of cars with people coming out into the lane to get out of their cars and getting hit. The other day I saw a passenger getting off the bus and get hit by a cyclist because they share the same space and cyclists other than me, DONT STOP FOR NO BODY.
boo hoo
get me a box of 3 ply and do it fast and get a job and stop wasting your life away crying into your spilt lactose free non dairy liquid.
I've got some 3 ply toilet paper you can use for your tears. Got them on sale at Loblaws. They had a sale. I rode my bike there, not using any bike lanes. It was so peaceful. If you are good, I'll leave you the whole roll. I think you're gonna cry again and soon.
First I will say that your intuition is not uncommon, but research has show that reduced on-street parking does not detract small business. (There's a great BI article about this that I would link, but I find that URLs tend to get comments deleted). Look at places like the Bloor Annex where there's less on-street parking than ever before and it's one of the most desirable neighbourhoods in North America for businesses and residences alike. The reality is that Midtown is changing. There are more people living in Toronto, and people want cities that are built for people, not for vehicles. We know that narrowing roads makes them safer for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike. We know that bike lanes reduce fatalities. And with the opening of Line 5, there are going to be a lot of people who decide to use transit or cycle to reach these businesses in the yonge/eg area rather than drive. Toronto undeniably has a growing traffic problem. Nobody is arguing that. But the only way to reduce personal vehicle traffic is to provide safe and efficient alternatives to driving. Between the TTC's rapid expansion and Toronto's growing cycle culture, the roads will be faster and safer for those who still want to drive.
First of all, take a good look at the Annex. I have. Was there the other week. We were appauled. Most people I know won't even go there anymore and for good reason. It's mostly homeless people and beggars and the dirt and pollution and garbage hang on the street along with the drug addicts. The annex is downtrodden now and when I've interviewed the store owners along that street, they told me that it's been a nightmare, and the same goes for the businesses and customers on Bloor St. West Village in High Park and beyond. The stories are endless of problems. You like in some bubble that suits your own view but it ain't reality of what's now happening. Bike lanes in fact create more injuries for pedestrians and walkers such as myself and I'm a cyclist as well but I will never use a bike lane. They are treacherous with lawless riders and no one following any rules and no one there to enforce the rules and no licenses, no ticketing, no accountability. In fact at last nights dinner party at a local restaurant, that was the subject of contention. There is NO TTC expansion. There's only been destruction. Years ago they should have kept building the transit to go up to Richmond Hill at the very least. And kept the Sheppard line to go to Scarboro, deep east, and a line to go to the airport, not a bus to do its dirty work. And when this city builds anything, the engineer they keep using forgets to measure the tracks properly and buy the right cars to ride on them, ie. every line that is still being redone or non existant like the Eglinton Disaster. I know of the family owned businesses where families came here from other countries, not to get assistance and a free ride but to work 16 hours a day 7 days a week but they had to close because of the parking being cut off and the construction of the LRT that was never completed or opened successfully. That Sheppard line is a complete failure. Keep it going. It's all industrial land. Go underground and build an extension. But this surface stuff is crap. REMEMBER, we are a winter country. Look at our bus shelters, with no walls meaning no shelter. Dont call it a shelter when there's no shelter. We freeze in the winter waiting and wainting and waiting for a buss or train before they break down. This city has become a joke in the worst way possible. You can't go downtown without dodging bodies on the sidewalk and parks full of homeless tents and drug addicts. Your suggestions are as good as the hotels being converted into shelters for the new immigrants and homeless like on the Esplanade which became a complete danger zone and failure and destroyed that hotel and hood completely. This city is now a shit show. People are being killed by cyclists, YES, they are, and cars being frustrated by bikes and lane closures and traffic now created.
I have one word for you. Thalidomide.
My second word for you is Bloor Annex = Dumpsite.
Ah yes, old people cant understand why people bike. Classic
I'm a cyclist. I hate this street. Bike lanes are a disaster. The bike lanes on residential streets are the only way to go. It's less polluted. Less congested and less dangerous for pedestrians most of all. I've never been hit by a driver in a car but I've been hit plenty by other cyclists with no rules to the road, no vocal notifications, no bells, no warnings, just WHAM. "too bad"( i'm censoring my words), is what they say after hitting you. NOPE. Bikes need to be on side streets and they need to be accountable to the rules of the road. I stop. Even where there's no traffic. That's the law. I've got video after video of bikes running stop signs and red lights, so don't even go there. This ain't amsterdam. This is a hard core car city and when you have a few kids that need to get to daycare or school and the transit system is daily broken or shut down for repair again, you need a car to get them there. And you need two lanes. And if you have lung issues, you need to reduce the pollution by sitting traffic and diesel ttc buses back to back with black smoke coming out of their tailpipe. If this were New York or London or Japan with their extensive transit system, I'd get rid of my car for sure but this city has two lines. That's it. One is a u shape going north and south and the other is east and west. There is nothing connecting the suburbs up north nor east and west. WE NEED CARS. We DONT need bikes. I was having dinner with my partner and family yesterday down the street. We walked there. While dining at a family owned business where my family did park because they don't live down the street like i do, we noticed at least 5 electric bikes on the sidewalk with people jumping out of the way and one near collision of a human into a human, who was delivering food for Uber Eats and Doordash. Insane. Get them on the street. No cops enforcing no motorbikes or bikes on the sidewalk, NONE AT ALL. Ah yes, young, selfish people can't understand why other people who are caring and unselfish don't like bike lanes and certainly not on their sidewalks. Sidewalks have become the cyclists freeway as long as they can shout out 'get out of my way'. That is truly Classic.
If we're lucky, we'll all grow old one day, even you. People with disabilities use cars and drivers to get around a big city like ours. They don't ride bikes.
@@marcenkin Which is why you can drive a car. People aren't advocating for eliminating cars. People are advocating for having alternative transit options that are cheaper, result in less congestion, and better for the environment than cars
@@marcenkin lots of disabled folks can’t drive.
Thanks for putting down an entire group of human beings. And if you have parents still or relatives that are older than you, then yeah, people of another age dont understand anything, according to you. YUP. Let me guess. Are you a tree french kisser? Do you also support Pro Life?
If this were my street I would feel upset too, and it sounds like it's going to be a big change. In european cities, similar schemes have been built and the results tend to be that the people will cycle if there is provision for cycles, and people will drive if there is provision for cars. Fewer cars mean safer streets and condos near shops mean fewer people will even need to drive to get where they're going. In 10 years I expect there will be a lot more foot and cycle traffic to the shops than car spaces could ever support! It's reasonable to be updet and to have no consultation sucks, but discentivising car ownership can often be a good thing, and you could still drive if you really needed to.
Not sure what part of the country you live in, BUT, it's winter here 6 months of the year. There AINT a lot of foot traffic. Only the joggers are doing that in the winter. The buses congest this street and only the odd one is electric, otherwise the diesel fumes rise up and coat what affordable housing and stores still remain on this once grand street that actually did have foot traffic after they parked their cars, that is. This isn't a cycle city. It just ain't. This isn't Amsterdam. This is a car city and everyone in this hood has them and use them all the time because of their schedules. Our transit system is beyond inadequate and embarrassing. This street is where a local freeway ends, meaning all the trucks for constructions and deliveries come off the freeway and drive along this street. Now it will be a single lane, surrounded by family owned businesses that are losing business due to lack of parking AND affordable housing exits for now since the 30's, 40's and 50's. These are classic art deco buildings with normal sized living quarters, unlike the new condos that have ventilation, internet and safety issues. We will always need cars. If not then why are all the freeways backupped up and packed. Because we use cars. What we do need is for the money the city is spending on this bull, to fix the homeless problem, the medical lackings, to provide more public parking which creates revenue for the city btw. Cutting off parking means a loss for the city. The population is getting older and won't be using the lame ttc to get to their dr appts. Taxis and Ubers will be used and again, they need good roads and lanes. The pollution level of the sitting traffic on this street is creating breathing issues for many including myself. If the tenants and the home owners and the store owners are upset, then we really don't care if you get it or not. This is our hood and the funds of this city are being mismanaged in the most extreme manner. There will be more people killed with this system. More pedestrians are being hit. I've been hit. My friends have been hit. Avenue Rd has a number of deaths that the cops won't even publicize. More car accidents. And the cyclists who hit the pedestrians is insane and there's no accountability for them to pay for the injured citizens medical bills for concussions and broken bones. NAH. This is a failure on a grand scale.
@@MarlaLukofsky7 I live in Holland and our street were exactly like in the U.S.. you are totally right Rob. When they make more bikelanes. It will be easier to get to your destination on bikes, so people will use bikes. And then lots of grocery stores and shops will appear in the residential areas because of the low parkingspots. So shops will be on walking or bike distance so it is a lot easier to get your groceries. My kids can go to school or their sport on bike alone. So kids can be more independent. Because everyone has a bike, so every car driver knows how to behave when they see a bike. I noticed that I got more socially connected to my area and people are really happier now. In the first years. Lots of people were angry. And after ten years, they changed their opinion because of the easy living with bikes. And it's way cheaper. And for the weather argument; Denmark and Sweden are also bike countries, and they have also strong winters. It's still possible to go on bike tho. Because it's so much easier. I was like you Marla. I was scared to. But after some time, you will see the benefits. Greetings from Holland!
@@MarlaLukofsky7Toronto wasn’t a car city until big auto lobbied to make every road into giant monstrosities just for cars. Nice to see that you bootlick the big corporations and suck their dicks on a daily basis.
@@MarlaLukofsky7Copenhagen has roughly the same weather as Toronto, and the Denmark is one of the most bike-friendly countries in the world. That's not an excuse
@@adamdickinson2894 This AINT EUROPE. BOING!!!!. This is Toronto, a Car City. This AINT Copenhagen. And it isn't the same weather. It's not balmy but it's not the same. The word roughly that you use is covering your axx. Yes, several cities in EU are bike friendly and those cities also provide parking for cars and their owners and they also provide better health care. I can keep going with the list of better than items. But Toronto isn't one of those cities. And building bike lanes to convert people AINT gonna make people agree and they ARENT Happy and THEY cant pay their bills. If you feel that strongly about these bike lanes, then i suggest you give your money to these business owners who have lost money. Put your money where your big mouth is, brooooo. AND, with your bike, start using a buggy system to transport people who disabilities to their appts and get a heater for the winter months for them, not for you. Cuz you are ok with it.
No consultation. Terrible. Do better #bikeTO
Shocking. So many businesses are 'out of business' thanks to the construction and now taking away street parking has sealed their deal. For restaurants and stores to survive in the big city, they need street parking and not the type where people coming out of passenger sides get hit by cyclists and if they are seniors and off balance, all hell will break loose and more medical costs for this sad country of bad decisions. Toronto, how dare you make life changing decisions to their citizens without speaking ot them first. They live in this hood, not you. They work in this hood, not you. How do any of you approve condos being built to take away affordable housing and then on top of that insult, provide minimal parking for cars in the building. If you allow condos to be built, then you should make it mandatory for those buildings to provide tons of parking for shoppers and residents for at least two spots per unit with public parking on different floors. On each block. Eglinton used to be the grand dame of social activity while maintaining class, health, and convenience. Now it's become a traffic jam and polluting all the apartments along it and i have the air filters to prove it. Watch my videos of changing air purifier filters for indoor air pollution. Lung disease is up and it aint cuz of smoking. It's cuz traffic is backed up from the Allen cuz someone built a red light that isnt operated by touch buttons and we need a cop to direct traffic constantly. Pedestrians are being hit by cyclists and car drivers who are in a rush and not following the red lights or signaling. It's insane to take a walk lately along my once dream street.
You been Swiffled! 🤣✌🏼❤️
That is so clever, "Swiffled". Thank you for yourcomment and that clever word. xo
I so love your voice and humour, my lovely Marla ✌🏼❤️

So happy you enjoyed this parody of If Mama Was Married. It was a labor of love for the one and only 'Thyra'
If only I could figure out how to have you deliver CP in person🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
If I could, I would. xo. But I can share with you how to do it, Mark. smile.
Chopped onions, garlic, paprika, salt, olive oil and chicken breast. Pound to tenderize and bake at 400F for 30-40 mins turning half way after smothering it with spices.
Looks great Marla! I will give this recipe a try!!!
Wonderful and create new things if you desire by adding something else or different.
Timing the pasta to be ready is key. You want the pasta el dente. not mushy.
@@MarlaLukofsky7thanks for the tips! By the way I wanted to ask what music is playing in the background? I love it!!
@@niko64_ I can't recall the name of the music. If you can play it on your computer and then Shazam it from your smartphone, you might be able to find out. I think I got it from the selections available on Tik Tok library.
