Funny how hard the Establishment tried to lie and rip off Britons those days by telling them how "Ugly" and "small" and "Useless" Scooters were because the government didn't make any money off of them and were trying to con us all into investing in Unaffordable Cars and Vans so they could profit more off us. How they try really hard to make these Mods sound like losers yet they are well dressed of course, making the Presenter look like the twatt he really is

This is the best cover I've ever heard Of the original by Martha and the Vandellas. Those 2 girls And the band knocked that out of the park. I know this is over 10 years old. I'm 74 years old from New Jersey USA This is The soul sound I was brought up to love. I know northern soul it's very big In England. Where I'm from they call it The Motown sound. That video just blew me away. I learned a lot about northern soul in England from Sarah Collins who I subscribed to on UA-cam She's unbelievable. I'm gonna be checking out this channel a lot more. If the band was capable of performing their repertoire as well as this comes across one would expect no shortage of bookings. A couple of sets like this would have all the makings of a good night out.

I didn't have a scooter, or any money to buy the fancy suits. I was always getting into trouble too.....I was a Sod. Once, me and my mates had a punch up in Brighton with a gang of large breasted girls, it was the Sods vs the Knockers.

I used to live in Clacton in the eighties ,and we had lots of fun when the mods came to town.It kicked off every time they visited ,but it was the scooter skins that were the aggressive buggers .The local businesses liked it when they came to town ,however things got out of hand one year when a mini riot involving around 300 local lads (mainly casuals) and the Mods one Friday night .They were pissed that some casual lads decided to play dominoes with their scooters .Also one local nutter decided to drive his vehicle over the Mods tents they had camped out on a local council camp site .Tendering council decided it was no longer worth it and they banned the Mods from visiting the town in large numbers.

I saw a documentary once about the origins of scooter design. Just after WW2 many factories in Italy were converting from munitions to manufacturing. Vespa or Lambreta ( not sure which) decided to make motorcycles. The engineer/ designer knew nothing of motorcycles so his design featured the rider sitting on a seat instead of astride the machine. The scooter was born and the rest is history.
