EVERYBODY has their own translation of the scripture. Just ask anybody what John 1:1 says in Greek. They don't know. And if you have 100 primitive Greek speakers you will get 99 different translations. Most of them will honor God and Son in some fashion. Hurting people who are not intelligent will not get you your inheritance.

@ I dont know man, that's up to you in the end I guess... Personally im Orthodox, I always when I visit a foreign country as a Serbian Orhodox for example my last trip i visited Malta and prayed in St. Aghathas crypt, and also every Cathedral that I visited. We are all Christians in the end. You might even find a closer connection somewhere else , im not saying come to Orthodox i'm just saying that you should go where you heart leads you. But that's just me and my opinion. If you seek more knowledge and clarification you should start visiting and speaking with a Roman Catholic father and an Orthodox father and so on. Its not easy its a lot of work but it will free you once you find your place.

Human beings are capable of abstract thought so its puzzles me why anyone would think that suddenly this flies out the window when it comes to GOD - not being muslim i would watch thousands of clones swirling around a shack w a silver nonny looking meteroite idol and think what kind of crazy is this? While they might see thousands of men(it is all men, amirite?) and feel its a gesture of cooperation and peace while walking the path to eternity or something like that - we look at what others do as senseless or bad and they often do the same to things we do and it goes beyond mere religion - I believe that all the stories in the bible have abstract moral lessons - its wisdom and mythology combined - its simple minded to think that Christians think the eucharist is the actual blood of a prophet dead for 2000 years lol the real lol is the person whose spiritual vision is stunted and thinks ppl are zombies eating the flesh of humans eeeww lol Ive never prayed to GOD thinking that a ancient Jew was listening and considering my request with his Papa Skyjuice but this is what an atheist might think is happening and then lol with a air of feigned moral & intellectual superiority as if they were a Vulcan and could never be fooled into believing in magical beings who arent there - what they totally fail to see is that is that theres a flip side where they are actually the mental midget and the spiritual sapling who fails to grasp concepts which are not spelled out in big letters using simple language with definitions - reminds me of the difference between old love songs which speak of love and intimacy poetically so a child hears a dance tune but the mature person comprehends the subtleties and hears a romantic ballad with messages hidden in the layers of chorus and melody - this is how religion is - the first layer is for those who are new, children and the stories are made for young minds in Sunday school - this is the knowledge and the key to unlocking the purpose of knowledge is wisdom - Noahs ark is a kids story w a boat and animals a catastrophe which has a happy ending but its also an adult story about doing the right thing in the midst of peer pressure and tribulation so that you, your family and the civilization doesnt crumble under the weight of lawlessness - ppl think theyre actually talking about animals - the animals are those who are without principles - there are lots of arks right now - also men should be good stewards of the Earth which is a masterpiece by any standards - not to be ruined by stupidity and vulgarity but respected so the next generation has some sort of future - Proper Education Always Corrects Errors! 1❤️🤲🏼✌️

Regarding Icons. I listen to the priests answer twice. When did Jesus ever say this? I feel like this is just humans interpreting, adding, and twisting words so that they can give some kind of credit to great men who died fighting/preaching the word of Jesus. There is nothing wrong with it I just dont see how this is what Jesus preached

Colossians 1:15 does not explicitly address the worship of Saints, it’s theological assertion about Christ unique status as the image of God in his supremacy over all creation implicitly disallows any form of worship that would attribute to Saints or other holy figures what is due to Christ alone

How does he know for sure what the people depicted in the pictures actually looked like? And if I was in his church I would only see them as works of art, whereas I'd be there to worship God. A blank wall would be better as the artwork is a bit of a distraction tbh. They do look nice though, if it's a gallery you're visiting.

I've been waiting for abouit 15 years for the Orthodox church to get its act together and have me baptized, no such luck. In a parish of 500+ members I have seen not a single adult take the Eucharist in a period of three years. Maybe the people of the true faith don't know a thing about their faith? That'd be a thing.

I’m a devote Catholic going through my rites currently. My grandmother is a JW still. With the power of the internet I used to be very very zealot in my faith because all I see is everyone trying to be right or be internet apologists. I stepped away from this toxic tactic and focused on other theology. That being said, I actually started by reading my bible to my grandmother and we discuss my stuff and her book. It’s better this way because I practice not converting and just spreading the faith by showing. Never forcing. So if my grandmother wants to come with me to mass once, then it’s a win in my book. She’s an angel because this woman raised me. I’ll never disrespect her faith in Jehovah at this point. I just won’t be converted to her faith. Not again. Being cradled into that religion was the most boring nonsense of my life. It was just school.

Firstly let me say that I have nothing but love for my Eastern Orthodox brethren. But as a Western Orthodox Roman Catholic & a lover of history I must point out several false claims made in this clip. Let me also disclose that I am a Roman Catholic of Irish descent on the paternal side. My father's family had maintained their Catholicism throughout history, but in the two generations prior to me had become Church of England. My father however returned to the faith of his ancestors when he experienced a miracle. My mother's side whilst being Italian Roman Catholic, were originally directly in the paternal line a Byzantine Greek Imperial family, driven into exile around the time of the schism, and can also be traced to Cappadocia in the early days of Christianity. First Church: "Thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church". Mathew 16:18 - This statement by Jesus Christ makes in clear and certain terms that He put the sole responsibility on Peter & his successors to shepherd the faithful & to head the church over all other sees. In the early Christian era, the Catholic Church was compromised of five sees or patriarchates - the Roman, the Alexandrian, that of Antioch, that of Constantinople & that of Jerusalem. However the last four were unified under the Roman see & whilst obedient to the Papacy also maintained a high level of autonomy. This truth is often denied by the Eastern Orthodox Church, but this this denial is not only patently false, but demonstratively historically inaccurate. These sees, (along with Rome, the five major patriarchates of the early Christian world), enjoyed a degree degree of independence and were recognized as having a special authority within the universal Church. The Schism: Several prior disagreements, such as the Iconoclasms, had prepared the way for differences to breed within the church, but in 1054 The One True (or orthodox) Universal (or catholic) Church splintered over the actions of Michael Cerularius, the patriarch of Constantinople. While he & all who adhered to his teachings were legitimately excommunicated, his pseudo-excommunication of Pope Leo IX, was not valid, as he maintained a position inferior to the pope. The Catholic Church did not leave the family, as the priest implied, but rather the family kicked out the rebellious child. Please understand that the Roman Orthodox Church considers that besides, itself only the Eastern Othodox Churches & the Assyrian Churches & the Oriental Orthodox Churches & their derivatives & a few others, are valid churches, but that whilst being valid & having valid sacraments these same sacraments are not licit. All protestant churches, however are considered heretical. Apostolic Succession: Peter was the first head of the Church, he and the remaining apostles had the authority given directly to them by Christ. All subsequent clerics received this same authority when they were breathed upon, as Christ did to the apostles. After the schism both splinters remained valid & therefore both maintained the apostolic succession. However this is not true for the Protestant Churches who taught untruths. I must also disclose that the Roman Catholic Church is currently divided. 1. Those who believe that francis is false & was never Pope, but rather an antipope. 2. Those who believe him false based upon his heretical actions, that have invalidated his papacy. 3. Those who believe his actions are wrong, but will follow him anyway. 4. Those who believe that he can do no wrong. 5. And those who believe that, yes he is wrong, but there could be worse, & hope for a better outcome next time. Please understand also that we are divided politically also. Those who, like myself, support Russia against Ukraine in the Donbas. And those, like myself, who support Israel over Palestine. Unfortunately we fall on different sides: the majority where I am being pro-Ukraine & anti-Israel. It is my sincere hope that our churches will be reunited one day & that we all stand in unison for truth & morality.

Live by a Kingdom Hall in Burnaby, BC by Royal Oak Skytrain Station never there when service is on don't know how many go there? Met some here and there too. Evolving into all of this shunning and know of persons raised JW too. Apocalypse Delayed by James Penton mentions they don't get many converts & they don't last long. Saw some at Metrotown Stn very mechanical/rehearsed/disconnected/trained people so not connected can easily disconnect is how they're conditioned to disfellowship so easily. Doesn't seem healthy seems like a poisoned environment. Very manipulative and controlling situation! Charles Taze Russel lead them and likewise Joseph Rutherford too and James Franz as well. These leaders leading the way they do. Love Bomb and Shun. One extreme to another is unbalanced not good for the mental health at all!

I am a Bulgarian Protestant but a majority of my family are Orthodox. While I have some disagreements, none of them are things that could result in a person going to hell. Regardless of if you believe that the bread and wine literally become the flesh and blood of Christ, because you believe in Christ, you will be saved. My point is this, so long as the church you have chosen to follow or believe in follows Christ truly and believes in him wholeheartedly then you will be saved, follow his laws and do as Christ would do. And btw just because I am Protestant it doesn’t mean that I support anything related to LGBT or whatever. Sin is sin and it leads to death while our lord and saviour Christ is good and leads to salvation. That is all.

On the pew thing, I know of one parish where the priest noticed that many visitors weren’t coming back after the first time. So, to make it seem more “American,” they added pews to the church. They noticed many more people were coming back, and many actually converted. The big empty space freaked them out. Basically, the priest at that parish realized that the pews themselves were nothing to run people off over and that if adding them brought more people into the Kingdom then so be it 🙂.

I'm a 54 years old Australian Serb. My parents are Serbs, from Srem. I'm Serbian Orthodox. I'm Christened in Nis, in Sveti Nikola, when I was 18 years old, 1989. I choose my godparents and to be Serbian Orthodox. However, I don't need to agree with everything to be Orthodox: 1. I don't worship icons. 2. I don't kiss icons. 3. I don't kiss the priest's hand. The rest I do believe and do. Our Lord is in my heart ♥ I always talk to him. Also, because my parents moved to Australia, before I was born, they lost a lot of the traditions and my tata didn't care for it. Plus his godparents were killed during world war two. And we lived far from any Orthodox church, in Mount Isa, and then Cairns, back in the 70's and 80's. So, I grew up not knowing what slava my father celebrated and same with my mum. Both of them were from Srem. So, when it's Slava from my tata's mother's side (baba) of the family, I go and help them and celebrate it, in Melbourne. Oh and my father's mum passed away in the early 60's, rather young. However, there is an Orthodox church here in Cairns now, but it's Greek. And so I'm at a loss and it's no point in celebrating Slava here. My tata passed away 4 years ago and my mum has dementia and now resides in aged care. I don't have much family here in Australia. And what little family I do have of them, resides in Melbourne and it's not close. It's a four day drive to Melbourne. Flying isn't cheap. All this has shaped me as the person that I'm currently am. I do whatever I can, living in Cairns, Queensland, Australia. AND... there's a reason why I was named Božana.... Božić... Božana.... I love ♥ our Serbian culture and our Serbian idiosyncrasies. God bless! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥😘😘😘

Icons in Orthodox Christianity aren't worshipped themselves but serve as representations of divine beings or saints-similar to how you don't talk to your phone during a video call, but to the person on the other end. However, there's a clear distinction in how a mass-produced plastic icon from AliExpress and an 8th-century weeping icon are treated. Both depict the same holy figures, so if the focus is on what’s represented rather than the physical object, why does the origin or history of the icon make such a difference? Cultural value?

Apparently one church was confusing one saint with another on their icons. But the saint didn't stop listening to people's prayers even though she was mistaken for another saint. Its about faith. Finally it got corrected

@mireaman1 that is what confuses me... If it is for faith, why a certain object depicting a saint is venerated and celebrated over another that depicts the same thing. Especially if end result is prayer to the saint?

@@shooricus I guess some icons have some history behind it that gives them special place. Like icons drawn by some saints

@@mireaman1 agree and that's why it seems to me that the object itself is being venerated, either by itself or along with what's depicted on it. I've seen people waiting hours to pray before one special icon instead of printing out a copy of it and doing the same.

@@shooricus Yeah some icons listen to prayer quickly some heal diseases but show the same picture. because may be a famous saint used to pray infront of it. All have their own history
