I haven't read the books only seen the series, so kindly don't get mad at me. Is it so bad that Colin said he would never court Pen? I understand he likely ruined the chances of Pen getting a lot of suiters and I agree that it was a dick move. From what I have seen, Colin is a simpleton and trusts easily. He has also implied enough times that Pen is special to her. Could it be possible that he meant that he would never court Pen as she is a good friend and her sister's best friend too. Is it right to get mad at a person if he/she doesn't feel the same about you, but rather values your friendship more. Are people not allowed to feel differently?

The thing about the you don’t count comment is that it could go either way. It’s either I would never be interested in you because you are basically my sister or you don’t count because you are more amazing than any of these women and every girl sucks except for you, Pen.

This specific scene made me watch bridgerton and as much as I hate what Colin did, there's some chemistry between the two. Nic and Luke had played there characters well making you care about them.😊

It took me a minute to really understand the implications of the things Colin says about Penelope. Its not even just his words, its his actions. Those other men saw him dancing with Penelope. Just that simple exchange of time could have boosted her chances to have a few suitors. But he more or less dashes those chances by stating he'd never court Penelope. He may not have meant to hurt her or ruin her chances, but he did. Watching Penelope make him eat his words next season is going to give me life❤😊

It speaks a great deal about Colin's fondness and closeness for Pen to just blatantly grab hert hand where everyone can see. Sure, anyone who knows both of them would just explain it away as a gesture of concerned friendship. But lets be real here, Mr. Bridgeton. You are BEYOND blind to your feelings, sir! He should of told those who were laughing at them while they were dancing later that Pen was the most beautiful, intelligent, dignified lady of their entire world. He NEVER had to worry about PEN doing scandalous things behind his or his families' or her family either. She wrote the newsletter because she was challenging society rules and the Queen's judgement of her diamond. Like El who got caught with radicals should of did what Pen told her to do and leave those people alone and Pen should of told her that she was writing the newsletter because El would of kept her secret and helped her friend like Pen-El was wanting to challenge the whole marriage for titles and money. Because it 100 years later their society burned to the ground due to WWI and it was a shock to their whole world.

Like their father who I hope we get a prequel to their parents love story was a honorable gentlemen who taught his sons how to address such things in private and to protect the ones they care about if not love. He only did this because he loved Pen and was warned about the possibility or him and money others with money losing out.

What I find interesting in this scene is the fireplace. There has been a theme of wild professions of love between our brigertons and their counterpart whilst together alone in a room a fireplace burns. I believe it signifies the flame of love. Such as the Duke and Daphne sharing how they mutually burn for one another.in the next season Kate describes her feelings of vexation for Anthony which he too in turn shares. Then they are interrupted unlike our earlier couple who were sharing their wedding night. Now these in this scene here with Colin and Penelope they are interrupted entirely before anything of true substantial feeling can be exclaimed. I am curious to see if in part two Colin and Penelope find themselves once again in a room alone together with a fire burning between them. Other perhaps things end with the interruption and the fireplace baton gets passed to the next Bridgerton to be in a rather wedding bouquet like fashion. Also interesting to note that when he does say husband the fire is framed between the two of them.

Penelope is going to make him regret that so hard next month 😂😂

The conversation in the garden is so far my favourite Polin scene. You can actually see the flame spark in Colin as he listens to Penelope. The spark when he is starting to realise that he has feelings towards Penelope.
