Best of Mexico Tour with Intrepid Part Two: San Cristóbal de las Casas, Palenque and Merida
Hi, it's Leanne and Kevin, and welcome back to the videos. We are continuing our amazing, busy tour with Intrepid Travel, visiting the best of Mexico.
We had some trouble with the weather causing roads to become impassable so we made a long detour through Tabasco.
However, it didn't stop us visiting modern cities and the ancient sites of Palenque and Chichén Itzá. Unfortunately our time in Mexico has come to an end and we flew out of Cancun via Houston, home to New Zealand.
Thank you for watching.

Mexico City, not so scary?
Hi we are Leanne and Kevin from New Zealand. Most people at home have very little knowledge of Mexico apart from what is shown on the news, so it can feel kind of scary. We travel from Auckland via Houston to Mexico City to soak up all the history and culture. It's not all plain sailing, as we grapple with the language, the altitude, and jet lag. However, that's all part of travelling to foreig...

MEXICO IS SCARY? 😂😂😂 THE USA IS TREMENDOUSLY DANGEROUS! 😨
Glad you enjoyed Cdmx. I don’t think the comment that Mexico is trying to look like Europe was ill intended at all! Hope you had a nice time and hopefully you’ll be back.
Trying to look like europe? hahahahah what a stupid and ignorant thing to say
We mexicans are tired about foteign people coming into out country. So sad.
I am from Mexico City... I was surprised you did not at least peak into Bellas Artes...there are some impressive murals in there... Also you missed the Anthropology Museum which is quite a site... and calling the Pink Zone gritty really dismayed me...I'll tell a business owner who is a member of the neighborood association to do something about it's image, I don't think it's that bad but it used to be quite a tourist hangout! ...a few museums downtown would have been in order too... but all in all it was a nice trip!
Such a bad title. Why do you people like you swear you’re getting shot and mugged the second you step foot on Mexican soil? Come to Los Angeles, New York, Chicago or any big city and go to the bad areas… it’s the same all over the world. Good areas and sketchy areas. Mexico is a beautiful country with good people, but it does have some bad apples… don’t let that ruin your perception of Mexico, or any other country for that matter.
Welcome to cdmx❤🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Even the Paseo de la Reforma avenue is made as Les Champs Elysees in France, this was also a european influence on plp in power at that time.
It was actually Porfirio Díaz, a president (more like a dictator, that governed for over 33 years, during the 19th and 20th centuries) the one that build a lot of monuments and organized streets like a French culture, he was amazed by it. He also bring some technologically developments such as phones, electricity, trains, heh, but it is a long story 😅
Thank you for this vlog, greetings from Guadalajara
welcome to México city
Tremendous Capital City!. Visitors quickly realize of the history, art, culture and tradition, and off course the delicious gastronomy. Mexico City is just fascinating , too much to explore and discover Mexico has the largest number of world heritage sites recognized by UNESCO in the Americas! Great country!
Mexico City isn't trying to emulate anything, especially not Europe. While the current population may not be predominantly white like in many European cities, it's understandable that some might feel a contrast between the "brown people" and the European architecture and traditions woven into Mexican culture. However, it’s important to remember that Mexico City was once the capital of New Spain, a Spanish Viceroyalty in North America. In a sense, Mexico City was never trying to be European-it was Europe, in a theoretical type of way.
You sounded so ignorant, petulant and condescending (racist)) when you saw the David statue and said, "they are trying to look like Europe." So do the first 13 U.S. colonies trying to look like Europe? 😂
Thank you for a wonderful tour with so much to see! Very informative 😊
🙏🙏🙏
Wow, I appreciate that you came to Mexico and showed part of my country; What I do recommend is having a little history before arriving, such as: MEXICO DOES NOT WANT TO LOOK LIKE EUROPE; Yes, it was a colony of Spain for more than 300 years so it is obvious that the main architecture is European because we have heritage from the conquerors.
Yes, I read it on an on-line guide when I did my research for the trip.
Aclaro:México no quiere parecerse a Europa. Tenemos demasiada cultura propia !!
England, not so scary?😂😂
I wouldn't know, I last visited the UK about 20 years ago
So peaceful of Joy ❤❤❤ love it .
Ya vieron que no tenemos filtro sepia 😂
Mexico has a unique culture and modernity that distinguishes it from Europe
Wellcome and I hope so you enjoyed this travel here, in Mexico City.
Fun fact: Chapultepec Castle is the only ‘real’ castle in the Americas to have housed royalty-Emperor Maximilian I of Mexico and Empress Carlota lived there during the Second Mexican Empire!
I live in Puebla, "El Relicario de América" (The reliquary of the Americas)
Mexico City is not trying to look like Europe. Mexico was colonized by Spain and had an Austrian Emperor. That's why you see some Spanish and European influence. Mexico is a mixture of pre hispanic and hispanic cultures among other cultures.
I agree, a very rich and diverse culture
What a disgusting way to represent our country, not so scary ?? wtf is that suppose to mean , if your scared and ignorant don’t come to Mexico and stay wherever tf your from
❤
I'm from Mexico city and I love to live here. You are welcome anytime. Hope you come back soon <3
You know what’s really scary? Going to school in 🇺🇸
Yes, or the movies, or a mall, or to Las Vegas, or Walmart for that matter
GIRL NOBODY DOES NOT WANT TO LOOK LIKE EUROPE
She doesmt understamd that spain, portugal germany etc... amog all the countries that colonized Mexico; ARE EUROPEAN! so thetefore theyre not trying to look european they ARE of europeam ascendece😅
Mexico does not try to look like Europe. We have history with Europe and influence from countries like spain, italy, France, Germany etc we cannot deny it, but Mexico gets its greatness from the native cultures and the cultural Mix of their people.
And portuguese .. (the north of mexico precisecly) like my family, am from cbihuahua
Always you guys welcome to Mexico enjoy
It's a lot of sugar , duuuuuuuuuuh
Why would it be scary?
Let’s not play, we all know why 😅
@ No I don’t, I’ve lived here 99% of my life. That’s 47 years, and never once it’s been sacar or something has happened to me. On the other hand I’ve been robbed in Amsterdam and Chicago.
No te creo nada, and even then, that’s not the common sentiment amongst Mexicans, todos sabemos lo peligroso que es la ciudad y sus alrededores, es más bien, toda la republica, violaciones, secuestros, robos, asaltos, asesinatos, etc.., sure we’re talking about the same country?
You have no idea what youre talking about.
@@pablovi77 and I’m sure that’s the common experience, isn’t it? 🙄 How big must your bubble be to have never heard a gun shot while living 47 years in Mexico? Mr. Pablo wonderland 😆
The Soumaya museum received the replica of David in 2023! Mexico City is the sixth most populated, in the world, with 21.6 million people. Google is NOT your friend! 😂
Because you are in the gringo safe places maybe
Bienvenidos a la 12 economía del mundo!
I am of Chinese Origin born in Los Angeles and relocated to Mexico City 5 years ago. A couple things: Mexico is not trying to look like Europe (it is it's own unique thing(; It's a huge city some parts may not be safe for tourists as it is in almost any large city; lastly just choose your destinations carefully. Enjoy the food, rich layered cultures and the wonderful people.
That's right homie 🤛
@@sergiopazmoore Thanks
Indeed, Mexicans do not try to be like Europe...🙄Mexico was a viceroyalty of Spain for 3 centuries, and that heritage permeates everything, from the legal system to colonial architecture.
most important...RESPECT THE NATIVES.
At this point all california and even more LA its 100000% Not safer for their own citizens.
We are trying to look like Europe????? LOL! Really? Get a history book lady, then you can comment.
Stop believing everything your media in the United States sells you, Mexico is not like it is sold in your country, Mexico is a developed first world country and Mexico is also a huge country full of culture and tradition and also like any country in the world it has its problems but with all due respect your country the United States exaggerates a lot in that aspect, it is as if we were to say that the United States is very unsafe too, but unfortunately the bad news is what is sold the most in the media, Great video and enjoy the great city of Mexico, welcome...🇲🇽✨🙌🏻
Mexico is still a third world country, it’s not first world ,no manchen, primer mundo?

You guys needed to go to “Bosque real” “Santa Fe” “The Mexicana park” and “Calle Masaryk “ those are areas you most likely will feel more comfortable in. Even “Polanco” could be a feasible spot for you guys.
Los más aburridos así es.
The churros "el moro" are the most famous and delicious from México city
And she complained about the sugar like Europeans sweets didn’t use a lot of sugar or oils too.
Beautiful video ! Thanks for sharing! ❤ there are many other cities if you want to relax and chill. I highly recommend San Miguel de Allende (you can take a bus from CDMX), Oaxaca, and of course the beaches such as Riviera Maya, Puerto Vallarta ♥️ greetings !
Hola, excelente video..... Es muy hermoso México!!!!
Beautiful Mexico Thanks for visiting us
The statue of David is not there to 'make it look like Europe'. The park was originally named Roma, hence the Italian themed sculptures. Mexico City is dotted with such parks as a sign of friendship to different cultures and countries. Cheers.
Espero que Les halla Gustavo Mexico I hope you like my country
