Stretches for musicians: injury prevention & recovery
Stretches for musicians: injury prevention & recovery
Most musicians will experience some soreness or pain at some point during their career. We are athletes, and as such, we need to treat our bodies with care! As a long-time sufferer of Carpal Tunnel and chronic back pain, I have collected many strategies for pain-management over the years. Stretching in particular has been a powerful weapon in my arsenal. Today, I want to share some of my favorite stretches with you!
Included in this video are a series of stretching exercises for hands, arms, neck, and back.
If you have any comments or suggestions for this video or future videos, PLEASE let me know! I’m always so grateful for any feedback you might have for me.
Enjoy! :)

What is the machine oil that you use? Also, great video!

Thank you! The oil I use for under my caps is just a very basic machine oil. The 3-in-One brand multipurpose oil works really well. Highly recommend for bearings. However, I don't put it down my slides. I don't know how I'd feel about breathing in the fumes. Thanks again for watching. :)

I love it!! Thank you for your advice. Very entertaining to watch! I like to use vivid imagery and imagination whenever I’m having travel getting something to sound expressive. When working on something technical, I like to employ similar techniques to this! :)

Not to pick nits, but. . . . When you put the slides back in without pressing the valves you don’t make a vacuum. You’re creating PRESSURE or Compressed Air. That compressed air is what pushes the oil into the rotors. That is what makes that wonderful “Thunk”! I Looooove your videos! !

Thanks, I don't mind if you pick nits. :) I appreciate the correction of terminology!
