If the water source is higher than dropping it make gravitational watering not capillary.
thanks so much! i have been watching many videos on this topic and your advice is the easiest for a beginner like me! the info about the rate of flow was really helpful to gauge if a second bottle is needed- great for longer vacations!
This may be a 5 year old video but you just answered a question about how to stop the water from evaporating when using this type of system outside. THANK YOU!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽💕🌱
This is brilliant, thank you for the idea!!
Thanks for the video. Adding the straw is brilliant. Well explained and demonstrated video.
I just got one. I want a strong espresso and will put a bit of Sambuca for sweetener.
Great tutorial.. could you use black witch glue to also bond these socks on ?
It's funny how experts disagree on every aspect of such basic matter: ua-cam.com/video/rpyBYuu-wJI/v-deo.html
With this system you can water them up to 6 months ?
If you have a big enough water reservoir, yes.
@@365dongle3 Thank you ))
A certified egg video.
brilliant idea of a siphon
Fantastic 👏👏👏👏thankyou
Love that you talk in your video and explain things. I’m tired of videos that have awful music playing in the background and absolutely no explanations or directions!
Very good idea 💡. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent video. Straight to the point
Good Idea to save water and plant when we are away
Really good. But I think that if the bottle lay down parellel to surface, dropping can be little more speedy and the bottle can be bigger alsoto get more days.
The Bialetti moka pots are *not American measurements, but Italian measurements* A one cup is basically, in Italy, a coffee shot. Same with a three cup. It can fill three shot glasses. Same with a six, nine and ten and so on. Yes they are small shot glasses, but that's what they use. Please don't use the handle to tighten the pot. Listen o what you read in the instructions. I do believe you want a long lasting product and not have to replace parts like the handle.
Too much heat. Medium-low is perfect. Don't pack the coffee down. Just do tappy taps lightly or enough so the coffee powder moves and evenly fills the coffee filter/holder. Scrap any excess coffee with the back of a silverware so it is even and below the coffee filters rim. That's it. The rest is easy. The instructions say use low heat, but imo, they probably mean if you're using flame to use low heat. Heat from flame vs an electric stove are different in heat wise. Meaning flame will get it maybe a bit hotter faster than electric stove tops.
hey paul.. thank you for sharing this video.. Wich wick you are using in this app ? Where can i buy it ?
Hi. The wick is jute string. I buy mine online on ebay. You should be able to use any organic string, so not polyester or nylon for example. Doing a test is always a good idea to see if the string transmits the water. Good luck!
with all due respect, Sir, but you NEVER tamper the coffee on a moka machine. this is not only dangerous, but also a blasphemy, as it changes the extraction ratio, hence the taste of the final brew. another thing, you fill the machine with boiling hot water, so the coffee has the less possible contact with the water.
Cant believe I watched this especially the lesson on cleaning the grater and wringing out an old cloth. Looked like he cooked it in his garage
This is how you make burnt coffee. For a good moka pot, fill the bottom part with pre boiled water, this minimises the amount of time the grinds are heated. As soon as the sputtering sounds start you don't want to extract any more from the grinds, just run the bottom under a cold tap. A fine grind like that is for espresso, a moka pot needs a much courser grind.
Reheat water just to put it in the Moka pots boiler is a pain in the ass. Either way you're waiting for water to come to a boil either in the kennel or in the Moka pot. You're adding an extra step just to make coffee. Fill kennel with water. Turn on gas stove top or if using an electric stove, set dial to medium heat or high (like you can in the moka pot), so it can come to a boiler. Pour boiling water from the kennel to the boiler chamber. Put coffee holder on the boiler and fill it with coffee. Grab a towel or oven mitts and tighten the Moka Pot (🤦♂️). Or fill the boiler with cold water. Add coffee. Assemble the Moka pot. Put on the preheat stove top or gas flame. Wait. Boom. Done. Now wait. Sheesh.
I always use cold water and never had under extracted coffee. Even on an Electric stove top.
Hmm. I've worked in a lot of coffee shops and at home we make the same coffee in a smaller moka pot.....we use espresso grind and it's almost identical to how it tastes in our high end coffee shops...not perfect but close. I'll have to try it on the courser grind.
That's 3 cups. Isn't it extremely strong?
Not that strong. The Mokka pot makes good strength coffee which I like to enjoy with frothy warm milk! It is not Espresso strength.
2-3 cup is your typical cup of coffee for one person, you could go with 4 if you need a tone of caffeine. Those cup sizes are in typical Italian espresso measures, so about 40ml per cup.
Can this be done for underground watering of roots ? What if we whole set up is burried in the soil ..will the strings still provide water to lower roots of plant in ground ?
Yes that should work. You just need to make sure that the water will get to the roots, so use a straw again and just bury it in the ground.
Helpful , I don’t want to disturb anyone while we are on vacation.
"Try it with a piece of carpet or something" 🤣😂🤣 Looks delicious! 👍
Since you can only feel the jug up to where the holes are, why not put the holes in the top?
Good idea. You could try putting the straws in the top of the bottle instead of cutting into the side. A more elegant solution perhaps.
Or you could do the contrary: connect the straws to the bottom of the bottle, as this would make a stronger water output. But you'll need to connect the straws to the bottle in a hermetic way to prevent unwanted water leaks. Also you'll need to use strings thick enough to sit in the straws tightly, otherwise the water will just flow bypassing the strings. Or you can use heatshrink tubes.
Excellent.
Shouldn't you put a thin layer of glue on all surfaces and let it become tacky. Then a second thin layer of glue followed by joining the fabric surfaces immediately?
I have not personally come across the method you describe. I have always allowed one coat applied to both surfaces to become tacky before pressing them together. This is the normal method with contact adhesives as far as I know.
@@paulholzherr2993 Ok, with high density foam in the kayak cockpit I have always been instructed to use two coats. It may be different for a gasket
@@ws9186 Hi, I still have the glue I used and it is called Bostik 2402. A 'how to' video does say allow the coat to become milky/tacky before bringing the two surfaces together. It does also say apply a priming coat as well. This glue is meant for use on rubber based surfaces.
Usefull
This is superb sir, thank you so much for sharing your hard-won knowledge; much appreciated!

water is pushed through the coffee not steam

Roesti is commonly served as a side with Geschnitzeltes Zurich Art. Awesome combo!!!
Paul what if I get a trash can plastic throw those the string tied to a rock use fish pump tube but at the plant I make a lasso around the plant an cover it with soil
Hi ledgrowlabs. Sounds like an interesting set up that should work. Try it and see. Make sure the plant is lower than the water source. The capillary action seems to work best going downhill with gravity assist. Experiment is the way.
@@365dongle3 I read that water can only wick up 13 inches so I will have to experiment an see what container would be best thanks 4 sharing your way fits me intrigued so this can go into tents with a res out of a tent
Interesting video, thanks..
this is the most ridiculous video. HOw can i even see the size if the camera is on the top.
Do you think if the strings were extended through the straws, so the plants needing watering in porous cloth containers sat on top of them, they would be able to draw the water as needed like they do in self watering container systems? Although the self-watering containers have the water supply at the bottom of the container with a wick connecting the soil to the water supply, rather than to the sides as this would be.
Hi Emily. The strings in this model do go right through the straws and come out the other end. This ensures the water gets through the straw. The straw acts as a conduit - there would be evaporation without it as the water travels very slowly. As long as your water source is higher than the destination you can direct it on to your capillary mat, which is what it sounds like you are using here. Just make sure you have enough of a supply to keep the mat moist. Some trial and error may be needed.
@@paulholzherr2993 After visiting your site I discovered that evidently if the water source is below the plant, the water will be sucked up by the roots against gravity when it is needed but if the water source level is higher than the plant, the water is forced out of the container and empties onto the plant by gravity which could lead to over watering. Also there are evidently some cheap watering systems you can use consisting of plastic tubing attached to a container/capsule with a removable lid with holes at the other end to allow the water to drip into the plant. A woman showed them being used to water plants throughout her house. The tubing extends to the bottom of a jar full of water and the end of the capsule sticks into the soil of the plant. The plant needs to be fully watered from the top before setting it up to work with of course the jar of water being placed below the plant.
looks so tasty!
I liked: Using raw potatoes, with peel on, adding salt, pepper & paprika. I was surprised by: Using a metal implement on a teflon pan I was appalled and disgusted by: The state of the tea-towel used for drying the shredded potatoes. DO NOT GO INTO THE FOOD BUSINESS !!!
You earned yourself a place in the internet with that rösti flipping.
Not the most perfectionist video but THANK YOU for confirming what size of Bialetti to get!!!
Nice idea, thank you....
Thanks for the info, I'm curious, what kind of coffee do you use for mocha pot? and what is the grind size? Thanks 😁
Hi, I use Lavazza Qualita Rossa. I have tried a few brands and this is the one I now use - with frothy warm milk it is nice! The grind size I am not sure. It's quite fine. On the pack it says suitable for all coffee makers. It is not very coarse.
Here in America we call this Hash Browns.
