Looks incredible, but how do you get travel insurance for that???
there are specialist companies out there, I'm about to go to Vietnam for a bike adventure ands I'm using. www.bikerstravelinsurance.co.uk
in fact if you sign up with the adventurists to do the monkey fun they have their own insurance company that they recommend
Don't worry about the clunkiness - it smooths out around 5'000klm- i love the old technology - there's something endearing about it that goes with the style of the bike - these bikes are bought so that the rider has maintain the bikes themselves both at home and oyt in the wild frontier - welcome to reality my friend 👍 Btw i enjoyed your video & you made me chuckle - don't sell it & persevere with it - a bit like the girlfriend we may be unsuee about - the longer we stick with here the more we find we like..... or dislike 😅
Whats the name of the colour 🤩 Epic not gonna lie
Nice insights man, love all the episodes. How much was the bike rental per day?
@@venujanarul4690 oh it was really cheap 12-13dollars I think . Lots of info on the last episode
@ Thank you! :))
"most of them are still there"... true and untrue. In Italy nowadays you'll see a 500 sometimes on the road, driven by an enthusiast but not as an everyday car. The 500 who have been restored or preserved are in garages, and taken out for special occasions or rallies.
Thats a better machine than the Transalp. I had a 2016 manual and I am looking at the 24s. I am just unsure between the manual and the DCT. There are modes on the new bike that hold the shifts its in Sport I think. Sell the TA and buy a 24 AT then you and a mate can ride together. I rode the new 1100 and it was spectacular and not intimidating at all but I have been riding a long time. Big powerful machines for sure so plenty of circumspection but I love ‘em. My reason for going for the 24 is cruise and tubeless tires. Transalp is sweet too really like it, we just get the gray in the US and I am not wild about it. If you feel better on it thats the bike. Or keep both of them and ride the piss out of them. Which tags expire sooner? Also just adhere to the speed limit in just about every situation, we are in it for the long run.
@@danielpolk3866 thanks for watching I agreed the AF is great and if I were a more experienced rider I would stick with that but the logical approach for me is get better on the TA then progreso the new AF I only want it for cruising on longer tris got a 300rally now for off road which there isn’t a great deal off here where I live. Plenty up north but it’s not a day trip.
What I would do? I have a CB500X and want more power so I hoped you would point me in the right direction. Probably cant really go wrong either way. I may leave the choice up to my insurance agent.
@@redred2772 TA have dropped price of new one I guess to move old stock as the newer model is coming out. Second hand value is currently lower so you could grab a good deal.
@@wright-adventure Nice! Are they in Ontario? Lol.
@@redred2772 no idea unfortunately, more than likely, if not now then very soon I would imagine.
this is so interesting... kudos for taking this trip... i laughed when i saw you trying to start the bike and I saw the kill switch was in the off position, at first i thought it was a joke to make the video interesting until i saw you laughing about it. i did the same thing to on my first bike, sadly for me i on realised the next day after the bike had been delivered to my house
@@TnyatieBiker thanks for watching, yes I look back on that video with a bit of embarrassment but hey I was new to it all. It’s an easy trip to do by the way, the last video in the series on trip notes lays it all out. The great thing about Mongolia is you’re never alone out there, somebody always appears form seemly nowhere to see how you are doing!
Back in 2008-2010, I owned a 2001 Transalp 650 and totally loved it. Now the kids have grown up and left home so I have gone back to no car and having a bike only! Currently, I own a Honda CB500XA and I really love it but I feel like my next bike will be a Transalp or Africa Twin because I do like Honda's and I can feel I need something with a just a bit more oomf than the CB500XA has, so this was a timely video for me. Thanks for your info! I'm 61, and I feel like the 750 is as a big as I need to go. I think I would go for the Transalp 750 as new as I could afford to get. The Africa Twin looks sexy af but I just don't know if I need a bike that big LOL!
@@paladinfx3083 totally agree with that!
Good video, thank you Errol. I own one of those right now and used to own the other but I will not say which one just yet. I think it depends what you want to do. I could happily tour on both and have done so, not a problem. Both are excellent. However, if you are going to do challenging off-road the Africa Twin should be your bike. The Transalp is very much a road bike with very limited off-road capabilities. I currently own a Transalp and it's really good for what I want it for. I know, I bet you are now better informed but non the wiser.
@@gilberthoualla8542 very true! I agree the Transalp great for roads and touring and since bought a 300rally for playing about on. I found the AT too heavy for me at this stage, not experienced enough yet but a great bike non the less. Thanks for watching.
Looking for a bike to take me too & Around Atlas mountains، from North East Europe. That red 2016/17 would be perfect, good looks, affordable, Honda reliable, less electric crap than new ones / I like basic, cruise control, Automatic gearing etc not for me. But this bike is massive, car on 2 wheels. Transalp for me but which 🤔. The Japanese built Transalp 600v, with gold rims €3000 reliable, good looks, easy maintenance, or 2023 Transalp 13000 after ya add crash bar, sump guard, extra lights & the seat on these new transalps, it looks like the Ducati multistrada, looks like your sitting in between a camels 2 humps 🤔. I'll have ta test drive them ta find out,
@@caffrey9762 second hand transalps are already out there and going for less than £7000! Thanks for watching
The Future will be great 💝
Good Work :)
The Transalp is much better looking than the Africa Twin. It has much cleaner lines. Why do you have motorcycles when you don't ride more than 300 miles per year? If you absolutely want to keep one of them but don't know which one to keep, just sell the one that would be most expensive to keep.
@@fuglbird thanks for watching, I have the bikes because I enjoy them, even if it’s not many miles, I intend to do more as the years pass as I get closer to retirement.
I’m thinking to find one and restore it here in Greece. Are the parts easy to find?
@@PetrosLAN well here in the Uk they are really easy to get parts and boast panels, I use motobambino.com They might shop abroad but no doubt in Italy there must be plenty of suppliers.
Humans won’t exist in 500 years, so there will be no need for AI in the human form.
They're both too much bike for you. If you aren't going adventuring any way, Sell them both and get something more appropriate to your experience and life. Take some classes with whatever you end up with. You never did tell us what you were planning to get. Enquiring minds want to know!
@@JohnSmith-sk8hn I kept the TA and also bought a 300 rally which is great. Thanks for watching
Awesome. Cool. Radical. Thought provoking 'n stuff....
When are you going back to the motorcycle videos?
@@Jase-101 got a bike trip to Vietnam end of feb will film all that
did you need some sort of drivers license?
no I was never stopped or asked, but it would help I guess if you at least had a CBT if you are from the UK
It’s obvious to me that you prefers the trans alp. My vote goes to the Africa Twin, keep the Africa Twin.
Oh, c'mon, in 500 years we will live in Idiocracy! It will look different.
@@alexeypodolsky9710 well I agree! I think the video displays a sense of ai control to everything, as humans we will have very little to do with decision making.
@ I just got an idea - as exist such a phenomena as anthropomorphism. When people are making projection of non existing persona into machine. For example - face of automobile. Or friendship with AI assistant. So AI does not control anything, we people just loosing mind and making up illusions for ourselves.
I have the Transalp and couldn’t be happier! I did the same upgrades you mentioned, including an aftermarket cruise control.. I found the new Africa Twin very top heavy. My Transalp is very nimble and comfortable to ride.. I am 5’4” tall.
Rise of the machines, not my cup of tea
@@robertmauter6493 good News though Robert, I’ve booked my flight end of Feb to Vietnam to rent a bike for the North loop, will film it of course!
Amazing, the thing that stands out most impressively is the Human form! It sure looks like it is going to be the dominant aspect 500 years from now. As for the "AI" aspect, we must never forget the "A" stands for Artificial!
Its a song from gentleman bromcos lol
Would love to get one of these but a bit like rocking horse poo in uk
dont really agreed the at looks nice , its all about the paint job , playing with colors and design , there potiental for the transalp to look cooler
Late to the show, but maybe you found another 1k. If not suspension work or tires. My biggest bang for the buck that would leave ya something left over is:more!!!! paid coached training, with a focus on the type oif riding you want.In a few of your videos you've talked about being nervous too. One of the best ways to speed run experience is to stand on the shoulders of giants! Extra points for making it a holiday training location. For the lowering thing, its for the birds! I also have the same pair of pants, different colour, fantastic! Spendy tho. Hope you enjoy the new bike great video (:
@@marchofthecontraption8060 hi thanks for watching and you’re right, I didn’t lower etc. love it the way it is. Did change handle bar and now love the positioning especially when standing and yes need to go on some training days.
just lay both bikes on their sides and try to lift them back up I would suggest the AT if you have #2 and are going to travel long distances together, otherwise keep the TA
@@irarabesc yes agreed, I did drop the TA and managed to get it u okay, but an extra 30kg on the AT would be a stretch for me.
If only real
Maybe they can use it now?
Music is overwhelming 😢
Three attempts to unalive Hitler and they all failed.
Selling my Africa twin to buy a transalp way better in around town and so much more nimble in high country
👏🤝💪👍❤🌶
Now my boy that’s what I’m talking about
Having tested the Africa Twin 1000cc of a friend I realized that it is too much for my daily use of the bike. I then tested the new Honda Transalp and everything was simple and made sense, and comfort was the main argument I was looking for. I sold the very fun and beloved Honda CRF 300L that I know I will keep in my heart for a long time but that simply wasn't comfortable enough on longer runs. At Transalp I found comfort and versatility. Compliments.
@@BrunoBorges.74 I also kept the Transalp and recently bought a 300 rally which I absolutely love! So no doubt will run both bikes for the foreseeable future as they are too good to keep only one. Thanks for watching
I think he is ripping off the Dooplidoo channel. But it is brilliant though! Love it!
@@tediousmaximus1067 you are spot on! I saw Dooplidoo and loved it! Couldn’t possibly pin down why but I did. I’ve only just started on ai and feel like im back at art college 30years ago so im trying all sorts of things.
If you've only ridden 350 miles on the Transalp, I'd say you definitely don't like riding it and you made a bad investment
I love the bike and have done many miles since that video, it was just my circumstances at the time. thanks for watching
Has this site been hacked ?
errrr... no, I'm just having a mid life moment possibly?

garbage bags were on sale somewhere
Do we need to have a license to rent the bike?
@@NadhIsmail-m6j no not that I’m aware, I was never asked to present any paper work. It’s pretty laid back there.
I'd have both but have an 1100 Adventure sports (21 inch front wheel) Transalp for local stuff.. Africa Twin for my trips abroad.
I received a notification from UA-cam that you had added a response to one of my comments, but it has never appeared here. I gather you were suggesting the Africa was the better bet, and questioned my suggestion of "economy" with the Transalp? Yes, the Transalp lacks things like tubeless tyres and cruise control, but I don't miss those. I ride alone in places where a seriously damaged tubeless could really leave me stuck, and have never had CC on a bike. Yes, the Transalp suspension is (intentionally?) inferior to the Africa's, but the economy I referred to (initial buying price, and fuel use) more than allows for some suspension work. Now well over 20,000 kms I am due to change suspension oils anyway, so a bit of extra work while I am there not a 'biggie' for me. But I 'get' your preference for the larger twin - there is no substitute for 'grunt'. As I mentioned, in my case I have an 1100cc twin sports bike for that, so am content with the Transalp for the mixed use. Lighter, easier, and less likely to get booked on than an Africa Twin! Not as light as my Ducati though, which weighs 162 kgs (with everything except fuel) and is a 'beastie'. It's about 30 kgs lighter than my Transalp, with 160 RWHP. I have 'a bike for all seasons'.
Errol, what were u thinking 🤔 get back to the motorcycle videos
Hi Rob, don't panic! its just a second midlife moment.
@@wright-adventure ok well all clever stuff …but quite a shock to be honest based on what you normally create ..my wife and daughter have enjoyed your other content…but fetish ….?
