I decided a bump I travel was needed for some of the trails I ride. This will give me more margin for error and safety. I was definitely sad to say goodbye to the RAAW Jibb, but stoked to get this frame built up and ride it before the the trails descend into winter mode. Let me know what you think and please ask any and all questions! Happy trails!

RAAW Jibb complete build and component choice
Переглядів 4,4 тис.3 роки тому
Just picked up my XL RAAW Jibb after a custom build. I sourced the parts locally as much as possible and built up what I think is a durable build which leans towards descending ability rather than climbing. It's never going to be an XC whippet (and not designed to be!) so it's been assembled with burly components for a 90-95kg rider.

    These frames are on sale, is it worth buying one compared to the V3 that's available?

    • @jarrodhinwood
      @jarrodhinwood 4 місяці тому

      I have owned both V2.2 and V3 in Medium and I would say the new one is definitely and improvement over the old. The biggest change is the kinematics, its a bit more progressive which means I can run a firmer coil for more bottom out resistance but not loose small bump sensitivity, plus the progression is adjustable. There is also more seat insertion which means I can run a One up V3 at 200mm where as on the v2.2 I could only use a 180. Its hard to say if the geometry changes are really noticeable although I no longer run any spacers under my stem as it has a bit more stack. There have also been some upgrades to the pivot hardware, I found the main pivot on the V2.2 to be quite creaky unless I rebuilt it fairly regularly, the V3 seems better from this perspective. is it worth the extra 40% cost hard to say. But I think they only have Small and XL left I the V2.2

    • @richcollumbine
      @richcollumbine 3 місяці тому

      @@jarrodhinwood Although I haven;t ridden the V3, I would take the newer, more refined frame over the older version if your budget allows. I ordered mine as a 47 when my regular footwear is 46 I wanted the extra room just so the insulation wouldn't get compressed and I could wear heavier socks ...for example, in northern Saskatchewan where I ride my fat bike almost daily I wear smart wool Mountaineer socks, which are quite thick and insulation is useless if it's compressed down to paper thin
