great job nice icom 705 fantastic radio 73 from kb2uew
Does that work the same on the up-5rm plus???
You need to buy yourself a hiking stool or a camping chair, buddy!
Should I assume this is the exact same way for the ar-5rm.
I can recieve but cannot transmit with my 5RM. I have been through dozens of forums and chat boards and cannot resolve the issue. Anybody have any ideas?
For programming, Look into a local ham radio group for assistance if you need it. They are more than happy to help. Just type in "your county" and "ham radio" or "amateur radio" into a facebook search bar and go from there. Here is a link for an easier way to find them: www.arrl.org/find-a-club
Thank You for watching, I am hoping folks jump on this and make a radio plan pretty quick. We live in uncertain times.
I got the AR-5RM which is Unlocked AND Tri Band (1.25meter/200mhz) AND 10 watts for under $30 !
I accidentally locked myself out of my radio with the password function, is there a reset to get back into the radio if I forgot the password?
Edited....my mistake. See below
I just received my ar-5rm and am going to try it today.
@@jhaberly I made a mistake. My Mac com port was selected wrong. The AR-5RM works fine using the GM-5RH program in Chirp.
Ar-5rm is a completely unlocked version, still under 30 bucks.
The uv-5rm is also fully unlocked! At least the one i received
@manwlis99 I've heard that from some. Others say documentation states uv-5g plus is gmrs locked, uv-5rm ham locked and ar-5rm unlocked for both. Seems it's hit and miss cause some say there are locked uv5rm out there and no way to unlock them. Others say everything is unlocked. Edit: I did find a video from notarubicon that describes the 3 radios differences.
@@risingequinox3093 Yes i think i've seen iit,but dont know if those smaller details change from continent to continent...For example if the us version is different than the european. For example mine has 108-136 am rx only,136-174 rx/tx,200-220 fm rx only,220-260 fm rx/tx,350-390 fm rx only,400-470 rx/tx and 470-520 rx only....I havent seen any one of those withthe capability of 200-220,also neither 350-390
I'm happy with mine :) Tri Band ;)
@davidyummus6259 I ordered a k5plus and got a 5rm twice. I kept one and I dont see a difference in the ar- 5rm and the uv- 5rm. However, I really like the k5plus I finally got and with the extended battery it's a chunky setup.
Does this radio have airband
@@ax1s121 yes. Receive only
I don't think so. 17pro has bricked 5rm's. 5rm is there, I've programed 7 of mine with it.
Mine came with a long antenna and a short one the long does receive a lot better and reaches out farther than my uv5r and for 28 dollars I like it.
Elderly couple here we just bought one of these we have the FM and weather station working how do we listen to ham radio we do not want to transmit just listen
@@Bob-bb3ur get online, look for RepeaterBook.com. Look for repeaters in your area. Then click the VFO button on the radio and type in the frequency and the “tone” The tone is radio menu options 9 and 11 I believe.
@@TheSpicerSpread thanks but I already returned it I could not figure it out
Got it yeste4day..using a f8hp baofeng it’s smaller. This radio is nice if you been using smaller version. Very nice. Worth the $35 bucks for sure. Upgrade if you can….
Yeah.... 7.200 was SPICY then... Counted at least 4 violations of the law on it yesterday...

Yeah, that’ll happen.
Nice video. The only thing I noticed is the settings tab, it looks like has no many options/
This thing kicks ass, get one, but use responsibly. I’ll leave it at that.
Chirp supports the 5RM…update your software
The version of chirp from the baofeng website directly supports the 5rm.
I just ordered one 3/9/24 Amazon had a Limited time Deal $27.44.
Ahhh first vid showing how to save a channel after finding it via scan mode
Got ya a sub. Loving my pair of 5RM radios so far. Apparently for chirp you need to use the model UV-17 pro for it to show up on the program
can you disable the transmiton of the uhf and vhf
Another dirty radio 😢
Mine came very clean and neatly packaged!😂
That’s awesome! What’s the set up you used?
Hey would you know what the original bulb make for this model of radio. Cheers.
for those who are asking, these are better sounding, better reception, louder and definitely better than the uv5-small models. I have programmed and sold several of these recently and people love them.. but mostly use it as a police and fire scanner. This one has a functional voice scrambler too.
The usb C input is on the back of the battery under a rubber flap.
Does it work with extended uv5r batteries?
30 bucks. Search for uv-5rrm plus extended battery. Batter to radio contacts are higher up on back of battery.
Can the chirp software supported by a android device?
Just ordered one.
E aí? Chegou teu radio?
The5rm is at the top of the pull down on chirp
Is there a way to unlock airband on it?
Thank you. I got mine to program on the uv-17rpro. That iss the only liscens i have. The uv-17pro plus did not work. Yes it is the chirp upgrade.
How to use the wireless programmer for this radio 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
I'd like to see a vid on your desk set-up...
Good video, I appreciate the information. 73s WA2TWF
Appreciate the video. What antenna do you think would be best? NA-771 or NA-320A?
I ended up getting the Nagoya 320 A because I figured it was designed for the tri band radio. I am just now getting into the hobby and I really have no clue what I am doing. I am only picking up very little on my radio but it does seem to function as it was intended. I will try to learn more and get more information about the radio and antenna setup and I will try to respond to let you know how it goes. I just got my GMRS licence, so I am excited to learn. Thanks for the response, I appreicate your input. @@litogamer2255
is it P25?
No digital. It’s analog.
After many of the numbers of the UV5R wore off, I went to Motorola and never looked back! Even with this new radio, it is still not even close. We'd like to see how the spurious emissions are on this radio's transmitter and how well the receiver rejects adjacent frequency noise without getting de-sensed!!!
Well, a Motorola with the same features costs a mortgage payment. I skipped eating lunch out once & picked up the Baofeng. Now, I can spend evenings listening to local airport traffic, or chat on a local repeater.
@@cSR-71 It's good no doubt. My Motorola for the most part are clean used gear and even used, it was still very expensive. I had a Moto dealer quote me a new multi-band APX8000 and it was jaw dropping. Considering it would only be local repeater use, I couldn't justify that type of cost. Never the less, the older radios are still fantastic, bullet proof with exceptional TX & RX audio in addition to commercial grade radio construction!!!
Receives Airband and FM Radio too!
Si
I just got that one today.
Keep up the good work 🫡
Thank you for this, my 5RM shows up today, guess I need to update my chirp, I have a very old version, are you using the "chirp next" version?
You are welcome. Yes, I am using the chirp next.
