Here’s some advice.. if they ask you “what’s your pay range?” Bid high so there’s room for negotiation. I make $20 from home with US BANK( currently in an accelerated DA program for my RDA license and I finish on November 18th. . I had my first interview for ortho yesterday. she asked how much do I wanna get paid, I said I make $20 now and it pays the bills and I don’t think I could go any lower than $19. And I stood FIRM on my decision. Hopefully I got the job though lol, but you never know. But yes go in asking for vs settling for what they give you. I heard that advice from an actual dental assistant when I job shadowed. that got hired at a dentures and implants place a year ago. He said that he started off at $14/hr, he trained a girl that got hired 8 months after him and he overheard her talking to another coworker and she said she makes $19/hr.. and he was there longer than her .. some jobs will allow you to ask for how much you wanna make, but some don’t.

Honestly, you can work in an office to get the experience and if money is a problem and you don’t have kids u can travel and make the money

In Canada as an orthodontic assistant making around 35-38 dollars/hr

If that's the average that's really sad. I'm from Florida and make a lot more than that. Dental assistants are way underpaid.

Can i study a course for orthodontic therapist which is approved by gdc and get registered as a orthodontic therapist as im an overseas dentist.

I have a dog and ever since he was a puppy I was brushing his teeth(we fight a lot lol) and I add a dental water additive to his drinking water. I refuse to let him get periodontal disease, gingivitis, and even bad breath 😂. But small animals like cats and small dogs are more prone to dental disease and i truly don’t want to be on that statistic.

I just got hired as an ortho assistant with no ortho experience starting at $23 an hour in Colorado. I’m very grateful but I believe assistants should still make more considering the higher cost of living here and all that they have to do! However, with most ortho jobs in CO, the pay can increase to $27 an hr once you build experience and skills at a practice which I think is fair! Especially due to there being no Ortho Assisting schooling or certification programs here, you have to learn on the job. I applied to two Dental Hygiene schools here in CO this spring and didn’t get accepted, even with all my ducks in a row, straight A’s, and experience/ certificate in Dental Assisting. It’s crazy competitive! I wish you the best of luck with getting into your program!

Hi Rachael! I’ve been viewing some of your ortho videos for tips and tricks as a new ortho assistant. I recently started working at an ortho office and its been very interesting and enjoyable however, they are days where it can be overwhelming especially since I have no ortho experience. The orthodontist that I work with is an airway specialist so we work with MSE expanders. I really enjoy how ortho is very hands on and clinical but I fear that my coworkers don’t really like me since they kinda just throw me in which can be stressful. Is that how every ortho office is? Lol and we mostly work with Invisalign trays. I really enjoy ortho but it’s been overwhelming. I’ve only been there 3 weeks and at times I feel like my coworkers expect me to know a lot by now. Hope you can give me some advice (:
