Outstanding. Love how Laurie questions all aspects of why a specific food or beverage may be having an impact on slowing parkinson’s disease. for e.g. - is the red wine itself having a positive impact, or is it the social experience or the olfactory experience, or … that causes the positive impact on those she is studying. Wow!

Since we know that exercise is disease modifying, there's tons of research on that. If a doctor has a patient with several prodromal symptoms, idiopathic constipation, non-diabetic swallowing issues partial or total loss of smell, fighting out their dreams at night, any 1 or 2 of these very common prodromal symptoms could lead to a PCP to one of these new screening tests and provide key information which may provide the motivation to make lifestyle changes that could slow the progression of PD and the onset of motor symptoms. 😎🌴 True we don't have a medication that's disease modifying, but there's lots of research on exercise and some research on diet. So we're already there people need to be screened and their risk of PD especially if they are having 1-2 prodromal symptoms of PD. 🤷‍♂️ But I'm betting they're deeper politics within the medical field and the insurance infrastructure within the United States that come in to play that are often not discussed out loud. But to say we're waiting for a disease modifying treatment is unfair to those people with prodromal symptoms may not know because PCP don't screen for PD. Diagnoses are delayed, and even movement disorder specialist get it wrong more than 10% of the time. If you wanna know how much 10% is go do the math and see how much more money you would make if you were given a 10% raise at work. 💰

Just had DBS in Aug. & had first programming. Tremors (my only motor symptom) are somewhat improved, hoping to have help for arm & foot neuropathy pain, (going to try alpha lipoic acid) Interesting that the surgery itself has caused changes…more imbalance, odd movements & animated verbal expressions…what I would call being more uninhibited (Husband says I’m a different person)

It seems that PK is full of surprises doesn't it? My sister has PK and often her responses seem to come out of the blue in an unexpected way. It's like an old response to a different time & place comes up & is chosen. I wonder if old pathways are just switched off and this happens as the next best option instead of not responding.

@@KristiJohnson-yo4hh interesting. I’m sure my husband would agree. He’s not sure what to think. I’m finding out that, with any disease I suppose, you have to live it to understand. I heard an illustration once..you can look at a house across the street from yours, see its windows & imagine what it must look like inside. Then picture yourself going in & seeing the rooms, furniture etc…Then imagine living in it. Your sister is living in the house.

Also taking supplements, this really sucks and takes a serious commitment. Listen to this does give people like me hope and sets us on the right path, thank you for your research.

. Dyskinesia I present an answer, a statement in recognition of the naysayers. You point out that B1 did not improve your Bowling score therefore you cannot endorse the therapy. Doctor Costantini’s statement: “We observed that the right dose of B1, thiamine hci can lead to an improvement of the symptoms between 50 and 80-90%, but in order to push towards the complete regression of the symptoms the correct dose of l-dopa should be coupled to power the dopaminergic motor circuits. L-dopa then shall no longer lead to dyskinesia if used together with the high dose thiamine.”

Yes, this is a very good point. I have been following Laurie Mischley for a while and attended her classes, the data she gathered is predominantly from the US so European data will be slightly different, have no doubts, especially when it comes to food. For example chicken is not chlorinated in Europe and I do not believe it will have such a a negative effect on people with PD in Europe. I spoke to several nutritionists and dieticians in the UK for example who work with people with PD and they all were very surprise with the negative impact of chicken consumption. Still, amazing data collection by Laurie over those years and some brilliant indicators what to do to manage PD better.
