With v 5.08 just updating to 5.10 we saw a number of changes, some of which are game changing. eg the day length has increased which means can cover more ground on day 1 for example; 3 new islands added; sharks added to the police station. Expectation is that more changes will come and will then do a restart once the game settles down a bit in terms of development. One more episode to come on d...

Off to the Police Station which a pretty rich sight, and seeing a raid of 10 enemies later on. NOTE. In the v5.10 update two hammerhead sharks are added that are quite nippy and take a chunk of health with each nip, and chance to make you bleed too. So make sure lots meds and bandages at hand.

So - Progress today... I used god mode to get into the Obelisk and travel to Masperon taking a Scout with me to find the Font of Knowledge site on that planet... Found the site after flying around quite a bit, returned and still the obelisk wouldn't work... No additional key is given. However, I found the Matrix key in my Scout inventory upon returned to the start planet Akua (which must have transferred there at some point) and the Obelisk door opened when I had that in my own personal inventory.... 🤭🙄 So that turned out to be a simple problem in the end... Despite wasting much time... But how do I make a blueprint of the Scout as it is now (upgraded with miniguns) so that I can just manufacture one like it to take with me? The Scout Blueprint isn't updated by saving the template it seems with the modifications made to this SV... (I presume this is only for repairing the current ship some how). Disappointing but I presume there must be a way of creating a blueprint to do this - but how! The other issue is that the Scientist Camp terminal doesn't work any longer. I can't access it. This is not a biggy but its annoying. I removed all the parts around this terminal (thinking they were not needed any longer as they were old base parts) and I presume this has broken the terminal some how even though my own base is next to it. I've tried putting down a core next to it and this made no difference. Any suggestions for this issue please lol? Probably another simple issue but I don't know the answer. Thanks again for these guides... I'd be stuffed without them!
Ummm. I visited the Font of Knowledge at some point early game when exploring with the SV. the Font activated then but the Obelisk doesn't open now (I've not used it in the mean time) - it still wants the key when I approach it! What do you suggest now? Is there some other place to get a key or some other action needed or is this another bug that I can't do anything about? On another note: I've found enough Neo to make the Teleporter... But I have no idea how to use it! I presume you need to visit a place before it shows up in the list? I've just got an empty list atm.
Each font of knowledge on the 4 starter planets has a key for the obelisk, so if the key is gone for some reason need to fly to one of the other starter planets to get another at the font there. Yes, once you encounter a teleporter at a trading post, or place another down somewhere else, then you get to see them as potential destinations. Once the teleporter is down in Akua it enables you to set up shop on another planet and then travel back and forth once you place a teleporter down there too.
@ thanks for this info. So I can presumably fly in the scout SV to the other moon instead of using the obelisk to get there. Then find the font there to hopefully activate the obelisks on all 4 planets... I presume I'll need oxygen with me for that trip and an Eva boost for the cold... Anything else I should know about?
@@kagang8959 BTW... I'm really impressed with how quickly you respond to comments! I could give you a big hug just for that alone! 😊 😘👏👏🫶 sincerely! Thank You!
@ is it worth setting up a base there or only travelling to get resources? I presume if I can get the obelisk open I'll not need base... So I'm deciding whether to take a whole bunch of materials with me or not!
Wish I had known to take along some cores with me... Lesson learned... always carry some cores on the Scout! 🙄 I tried to get back in after returning to the camp for cores and I couldn't get back in again as the drop down doorways don't open any longer after the base is left... I returned with cores that sorted it... Cleaned out the base in god mode to speed it up!
For sure, always carry a few cores.
So perhaps a stupid question... is the whole game dealing with one dudgeon of nasties after another or is the game fairly balanced with mostly exploration and these sporadically to deal with or is it more a case of going from one dudgeon to the next? Because if its mostly this kind of dealing with waves of nasties, I don't think this game is going to be for me.
I had forgotten so much. Great playlist. Thanks again.
Thanks, appreciated.
Thank you for this base guide! There is SO MUCH that I don't understand yet but your guides are helping enormously! I'd be utterly lost without these guides.
Very happy to hear it, thanks again and appreciated.
Following with extreme interest. Many thanks.
Appreciated, happy to hear it.
Have 3.5k hours from 2 years ago. Just come back and refreshing myself on how the game plays. Great video. Thank you.
Thanks, much appreciated. Quite a few changes since the old Omicron beginning where the Xirax show up to raid soon after placing a core. Starting out neutral with the Xirax a big change too as it makes getting the rarer resources much easier, although having weight limits imposed on the default assumptions adds difficulty (but switched that off as managing the weight isn't difficult but seems tedious).
Was struggling to find good information on this game just starting out. . but your series here was by far the most helpful thing I've found
Thanks and appreciated, and happy to hear it helped.
I have the small vessel in my Completed list but when I try to spawn the Polaris Scout it remains red and I get the error message it must be spawn at a base or Capital vessel. How do I resolve this error? I'm at the Scientist camp by the obelisk but nowhere I try to place it does it turn green! Any help please?
Hmm, never had that issue, so don't know the solution. Do you have a core down at the Scientist Camp ? If so that would classify it as a base.
@ the only thing I tried putting down was the tent (it made no difference at all). I'll try putting a core down and see if that fixes this bug.
@@kagang8959 I've tried putting a core down and its made no difference at all! Still can't spawn the small vessel. So I'm completely at a loss what to do other than start from scratch again! 😮💨I'm Not very impressed so far I have to admit. Is all of the game this buggy?
@@kagang8959 I've restarted and this time it would respawn the Polaris scout... So onward!
....and upward. Gald it worked out, no idea why it didn't work in the first place, sounds like a bug.
Just wanted to get an idea of how things have changed, since I played this what must have been 10 years ago, but it was presented so damned well that I got sucked in and watched the whole series! Dying to see what happens next! XD If you wouldn't mind doing this for every other game in existence, that'd be great. Whenever you get time! JK, and really nice work with this! Definite sub!
Many thanks, much appreciated.
Not sure why you were so stuck on why the planet you chose is always the same planet. You literally chose to be on that planet. Pretty good beginning info otherwise, thanks.
Used to be that the seed numbers always gave a slightly different planet but now it always seems to be exactly the same, so a bit confused why there are different seed numbers still if the planet is always identical.
is there trick to store that many things you have less storage how do you do it?
No tricks used. I do have weight limit turned off in the initial game options if that's what you mean. The weight limits have only just been switched on in the default assumptions (older versions did not have limits as the default assumption) and I find the game less fun with weight limited - but by all means play with the weight limits on if that's what you prefer - as always, player choice and no right way to play the game.
I have two questions for you: 1. Where the heck is the SHOWER BP? I can't find it ANYWHERE? LOL 2. Can you help me set up my Generators to only come on if the batteries get below like 20% and then to turn off at 50% (as an example)? Thanks again for this series, I'm always referring back to it whenever I'm stuck on something. Your Motion Sensor for the Teleporter is GodMode!
Shower is under furnitures deco (the bed icon). Before placing it right-click mouse and it'll show you other option like the shower, consoles, and benches.
@@claudiocardosomartins4058 Yeah I finally found it. Thanks
Nicely done, thank you.
Thanks, and appreciated
Helpful info, thank you.
Thank you for this video. Just a suggestion, with those Abominations, if you aim at their face/head they go down faster and take less ammo to deal with. Same for almost every NPC you face. Since this is part of your tutorial series, thought I would mention this for the benefit of your viewers. Really appreciate your guide through this game.
I know this is a few months old, still helpful. I like to view "Tutorials" for the games I play. This one is very good and helpful. A couple of things I hope you don't take offence at, you would help more beginners by also including things you seem to take for granted. For example. When you were first digging up ores with your drone, you suggested digging down a small tunnel and making an inlet for your avatar to hide in - great suggestion by the way - but you said that you would have to "jump up" the slope to get out of the tunnel. Perhaps add how you jump? Pressing the space bar repeatedly. When I was first playing this game it took me a bit to figure out the movement keys even though they are common for most games, because the game I came from used a different set for movement, no biggy, just a suggestion. With regard to how you choose to get your Blueprints in faster, for your new viewers, rather than using the command/debug tool you could just set the option for blueprints to be instant in the settings before you even start the game. It's right above the setting you did use to turn off weight/mass. Then you don't even have to think about "how did he get into that screen where he typed in FBP?" Again, I don't mean any offence about your tutorial, it's very good and quite useful for new players. Just some things might be more clear if you take the time to include what things seem simple after you've played for awhile. The "P" screen for example, where you find the info about your ship or base. I am guessing that you prefer to make your own categories for grouping items, I do the same thing, and it is helpful for new players to learn how to do that, but for starting out there is a faster and easier method for quickly grouping everything into predefined categories on the devices tab. Right above the list of items are several icons, including the '+', '-' options you used to create your own categories. There is also an icon that looks a bit like little boxes stacked in a pyramid formation. Clicking on that icon will do an automatic grouping into very useful categories for you. Then if you decide you want finer lists of groups you can just click the '+' icon and add as many as you want and simply move items from group to group in the same method you showed when moving items from the uncategorized group to the Turrets group you made and also the Cargo Box group that is actually an auto group the maker of the Blue Moon base used to put all his cargo boxes there. When you placed the solar panels you did well in showing that if you Right click when you have the solar panel selected you get several styles of solar panels to choose from. However when you placed the cargo boxes you choose to use the default ones - which is fine - but you might have also shown that you can also Right click for those items as well and select different styles of cargo boxes, some of which hold much more cargo then the little default one you used. Also, for those new players who might read through this comment, MOST items (building blocks, items like cargo boxes and such) have few or many different styles of their form found when you select the item in question and Right click it. Again, not meaning this as a criticism of your Tutorial, I get that you are attempting to make it simple on purpose, but little things like this may go a long ways to helping new players feel more confident in their choices (in that they have many such choices) in the beginning of their play through. I really like your very helpful tutorial, I have watched many other tutorials along the way as well and found that the most experienced players usually take many of the mundane things they've learned in the game for granted, as second nature really, and forget that even seemingly little things can be frustrating for new users whom have never played the game before and unfortunately didn't get that information from the otherwise great video tutorial they just watched. I would like to end with this though. Thank God for tutorials like yours! Because the game's built-in "Tutorial" is extremely lacking even the most basic usefulness, so truly - THANK YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE WITH THIS SERIES OF VIDEOS! Very Very helpful!
Thanks for the extensive feedback and absolutely no offence taken, all good, constructive stuff. It is indeed tricky trying to remember all the little things that one takes for granted - eg I sometimes go back to a game after a long layoff and have to watch my own videos to try remember stuff and sometimes think 'hang on, how did I do that ?' So I know exactly what you mean, its just a challenge trying to remember all those little things. Thanks again for the input.
@@kagang8959 To add to this, You placed plants into the Grow Block area but didn't explain how this mechanic works. Thankfully, with some playing around with the nutrient solution and the food processor/fridge in the base I was able to figure out that there is a 3rd tab that enables you to create plants of various types that can be planted into the grow blocks. However, this was entirely skipped over and left me just wondering how to do it. I've now gathered my first couple of tomatoes but I don't know how to repeat the grow cycle? Does this happen automatically? While you should encourage new players to experiment and learn as they go, do please give a pointer in the right direct of where to find things like this so that they can then explore these new game mechanics for themselves. Again! I would like to emphasis just how much these videos of yours are REALLY APPRECIATED! They are making the difference between giving up with the game because of the steep learning curve or having someone who can hold your hand to get you started!
@@SusannaSaunders Yup sorry, skipped that part. By now you will have figured out need to remove the blocks where you want to place the grow plots, place them in the empty spaces etc
@@kagang8959 No worries, I'm sure there are a lot of secondary game mechanics like this that would take whole episodes to cover (which, I'm sure, wouldn't be even remotely interesting for you to make). Even a pointer where to find these secondary mechanics though would be helpful please! In the Fridge/Food Processor tabs in this case.
@Kag Ang thank you I'm new to this game and your videos are helping me tremendously it gives Me a clear line of directives to follow . Please keep making these tutorials 😊

Is the kidnapped guy always dead? I made a testing run but left this place for last (after winter and combat) and i was wondering if the kidnapped dude died because of the winter or the conflict
Yes I think he is always dead - never seen him alive.
One of the very few players I've seen not use a shotgun, Personally whatever game I play the shotgun is the go to weapon for me
No idea why I never go shotguns, whatever the game, just habit I guess.
I was interested in getting this on Steam. I'm glad you did a play through to help me decide whether to purchase it or not. Good job!
Thanks. I think the game is worth it, especially after the recent overhaul whch seems to signal that a lot more content is to come.
Would love to see you do even more with this. Great guides for people just getting started.
A question, so u need a specific load map location to win this scenario ?
No, can do this scenario with any map. Some are a little easier than others, eg the map with the bakery is by far the easiest whichever team you have, but the rest are not that different difficulty wise.
@@kagang8959Is 2 Lv 2 heater actually necessary to survive full winter scenario ? Or 1 lv 2 heater is enough ?
@@whoisyurychan I tested this quite thoroughly and results were that ANY time spent during the day with the house at lower than 15C increases the risk of sickness occuring, and depending on the winter severity, one heater will often not do the job of keeping the temp at 15 or above. You can survive with 1 heater if you have some meds to help ride out any sicknesses, and you have to be quite unlucky to get hit hard with sicknesses with only 1 heater, but the dice roll can happen where you do get hit hard - I had a 'froze to death' once with 1 heater even though I ended the day close to 15c. Rare, but it can happen.
@@kagang8959 so it better to have 2 heaters instead of 1, but you didnt build 2 heaters ( including on this video )
@@whoisyurychan This is one of the older runthroughs when I always ran with 1 heater before fully understanding how the temp system works, now I always go with 2 and try to keep the temp at 15c or above at all times of the day. Someone once said it was only the temp at the end of the day that was important and I believed that for the longest time - but not true.
What happens if you only kill some of the bandits in a place, leave and then come back.
As far as I remember the ones you don't kill are still there when you go back, but I've rarely left the church without clearing it so not entirely sure.
So what happens now that the Zirax "enemy" is vanquished? The Empyrion Universe is limitless!!! What do we do now?
There are a bunch of other factions to deal with too, some friendly, others not, and the legacy is tough, their home planet is nightnarish. The storyline takes you down a path that is also pretty harsh, eg clearing the Ilmarinen is a long process and I died lots of times learning how to deal with that place. And as for space combat and taking on a Xirax Dreadnaught....yikes.
Well, so that's it! I've finished Binge-Watching your entire series! I loved it! I would love to play this game with you some day! I really wanted to try this game out but come on graphic wise it looks like Everquest and that game is like 25 years old so yeah i will keep on playing NMS.
Never tried Everquest - so unaware of amy similarities, good to know.
too bad you didn't continue this though, final boss is the killer
Yeah I stopped recording just before the snake boss was added so missed him too. I completed the game off camera later on and the last guy took a couple of tries to figure out - I think I ended up giving up on ranged weapons and rushing him with melee which seemed to work pretty well.
This story is IMPOSSIBLE, ive played this 6 times rembering every event, the longest ive gone its till the 30th Day, in other attemps I reached till the 16th or 17th Day 😢
What happens that ends each run ?
Your strategy worked so thank you!
Good to hear
They jumpscared me on the first door, didn't expect this to happen
I didn't get to kill them because I had the 2nd guard route scenario which I miscalculated. I didn't make it out before the time was up but Katia survived and I beat the game today at 43 days of war! All my survivors made it and got the good ending!
Nice
Great tip about the map command.
I have a question. Do lost shipments despawn after a day or is it there forever? I’m building near it and it’s kind of in the way 😅
They despawn at change of season but also have a chance to respawn in at the change of season too. However I noticed that if building something then nearby animal spawns stop and also the nearby lost shipments also stop spawning in if a building nearby - eg I built a storage shed outside a mine and a barrel that spawns there was never seen again

I´ve never known Sniper Junction to look any different to this, so don´t know. I always play on PC though, maybe its different on console or android ?
Just started the game and you are incredibly helpful…..thank you 👍💕
Happy to hear it helps. Its a good game and loads to do once planet hopping.
I disagree with this strategy even with a physically weaker character... I went in with zlata and a shotgun and I was able to rescue the hostage before they were killed and kill both men because they are unarmed. It's a much better strategy and waiting and watching for the poor man to die.
The vid covers that option after showing the limitations of going melee with no gun. No need or benefit to killing the guys as they don´t drop much (bottle of booze I think), just one shot and they run off and stay gone.
Why did you say that the crossbow is the best weapon... aren't the guns better?
I tried rolling with each of the weapons and ended up back with the crossbow. Might just be personal preference but it seemed the handling, firing, damage output, reload speed all seemed like a better combo than the others. By the time the guns are made a lot of time has been spent with the crossbow so it could also just be familiarity by that stage too. But once you are at the gun making stage try them all out and go with your preference.
honestly don't see how you think mass is a problem. unless you are just referring to carry weight. that's most of the game.
Early game I just found the managment of the carry weight to be a pain - its not difficult as such, just requires actions that distract from learning the other game mechanics. i figured learn the other game mechanics first then add back the weight management once the other mechanics learned, but, as always, player choice and preference.
Mass is a problem for ships ability to take off depending on gravity, volume is a problem for storage / player inventory for beginners to deal with as you need to go trough so many hurdles to get building started. Small vessel cockpit as an example is larger in volume than your inventory, and large enough that to craft it you need to use a base storage or have built out enough cargo extenders on your small vessel / hover vessel constructor output storage. Practically, with mass / volume on, volume restricts your ability to salvage high volume blocks before you have a CV and probably a deconstructor as mass is simpler to deal with than volume.
I am really enjoying this game. Found your video as i searched for animal hide armour and the way you teach is amazing. Thanks bud ❤ will follow your videos in future
Many thanks, much appreciated.
Y all the trophies?
Just a by-product of trying to grind up some of the various skills likr shooting/throwing and skinning.
@@kagang8959 did not know they assisted with that. Great content keep it up.
@@1stPersonFarmer The skinning skill increases with each item taken, so to really grind that skill up need to take everything really and not just the trophies. I think the quickest way is probably picking up loads of dorados as you can get loads of them very quickly in diving trips and can then skin them safely at base, also gives lost of fish to cook to get cooking skill up too.

Other than that - love the play-through.
