      Thanks for the kind words. It's frustrating but the only thing to do now is try and make sure it doesn't happen again. Could have been much worse, just accelerates the plan of having a security system installed:)

    CHEAPER PAY 250,00 YOU STILL GOT TO GET COMBINATION

  • @PJ-ee5mc
    @PJ-ee5mc Місяць тому

    Thank you for your nice video! You mentioned that you had to buy a longer pin (which certainly makes sense) but did you buy the pin from Cat or did it have to be an aftermarket pin since you used an aftermarket thumb? Not sure how this works. I have a Hitachi 35U mini with a PSM thumb and I need to buy a new pin and bushings as they are starting to wobble from wear. Not sure how to find the right pin & seals. Any thoughts on this that your willing to share?

  • @Mike44460
    @Mike44460 Місяць тому

    @ 5:58, if you take the snap ring off and remove the disks / tumblers, keeping them in order, you can read the combination. Each disk has numbers stamped into it, and the center part has a mark lining up to a number. That is the setting for this disk. The first one removed is the last number of the combination. You can separate these two parts to change the combination. If you change the combination, try it by locking the safe door with it not being closed to be certain it functions before you make a huge error.

      Well I was informed that there was a factory set list of possible combinations. Although a safe combo can be changed after purchase, it seemed like an opportunity to get lucky.

    Great job, Jack; and great parenting, Dad! Jack, the more skills you learn, the more things you can do in life. When you can do things yourself, you save yourself the cost of paying someone else, and that is money saved. Wish you well, little man!

    Keep up the good work little man!!! Learning this kind of stuff will serve you so well later in life, it still amazes me how a lot of my friends don’t know how to repair things or fix stuff around the house and by learning from your dad you will be able to do all that stuff which is the same way I learned most of my skills. Hope to see more videos in the future as well, maybe try and make some art work out of metal as that’s always fun!!!

You started the combination to the right so I assume its a 4 number combo?? And,... How many hours of labor in the restoration???... Thanks.

    I've got a slab of granite I'm going to make a prep table out of. I wish you would have explained what saw and blade you are using that also allows water to pass through, and the polishing tool as well.

    • @hooterspfld
      @hooterspfld 4 місяці тому

      Thanks for watching! The saw is a: Flex CS40 Wet running a 5" Ridgid Tile Blade and a Damo 5" DWP 1257 polisher. The pads you'll need for granite are different than for polishing quartz, but can be found easily on Amazon. I ordered the Ridgid blade off ebay and it was much cheaper than at Home Depot. Good luck on your project!

    From what I read.. They would typically put the asbestos layer inside the outer metal and then pour the concrete. So it would be in between the outer metal and the concrete.. They put it there for sound suppression and also fire suppression. So you would have seen it after removing the thin outer layer of steel, if it had any.
