How many FPS is the game?
This is the game I played a s kid! Dang. I've been searching it for a long time, but never saw the correct version. Man, nostalgia overload.
If u optimized gear ratios and downforce you could shave off 2-3 seconds easily
Used to play this game as a kid. It's amazing how it was so primitive in geometry but still managed to give you a sense of speed. True classic.
I played that game so much in Amiga 500... I even completed the full season in "ace"-level (the hardest), with 100% races. Maybe last racing sim-game for me in Amiga 500. I moved to PC shortly after... Thanks for the flashbacks.
Great race and well deserved win, congrats!
@@damsonn cheers! 😎
91 laps? You’re brave! Another excellent slice of nostalgia 👌🏻
@@Kiroquai haha thank you. It was a fun race 😎
your tea sipping is horrible mate. Stop that
I had no idea this game supports wheel and pedals.
In your last video I said I wanna play F1GP again. Well. That's gone.
@@TedMeat 😆 just don't go to Imola!
Let's go, Bang!
I remember change tyres lot more than computer cars was way to go on this track
aaargh that tea slurping is so off putting.
I’ve never seen GP1 using a season livery update - how cool is this! Great race, that - brilliant fight back.
@@Kiroquai thanks! There's an editor for F1GP that lets you change all sorts of values, including the cars and put crew colours. it's called ArgEdit 😎
From memory the wing settings made such a massive impact on performance. I always preferred more wing than less and could pull away from the grid at the beginning of every GP doing that and using 'D' tyres doing a two or three stop strategy. The only circuits this didn't work for is Hockenhiem, Monza (the really quick ones), because the AI would start to easily catch up toward the end of the race when the fuel load is low and their lower wings weren't impacting their cornering speed as much. (Never use 'A' or 'B' tyres. That slows you down way too much at the start of a GP when the fuel load is heavy. You end up with nearly zero traction out of slow corners).
@@Old_Catholic yes good strats but I've complicated things by reducing my car BHP and increasing AI grip in ArgEdit 😎
@@thesimracer Ah. It's still worth using 'D' tyres though, especially for Monaco. It sounds like the wrong decision, given all the corners, but if you are near the front of the grid, it will give you a huge advantage in the first laps.
This old classic still puts to shame many new releases. Great driving!
@@damsonn it certainly does, and thanks!
Very intense, very entertaining race and a great drive! Thoroughly enjoyed this 👍
Also now I want to play F1GP again.
@@TedMeat cheers 😎
Probably the single greatest racing sim of all time
Nice touch with the music over the results 👍
@@chrismoretta8131 cheers! I love that tune
Very good, but Phoenix, Arizona wasn't used in the 1992 season. Thought South Africa was the season opener that year?
@@DavidChild-ty2od alas F1GP doesn't have Kyalami 💔 so it's 1992 adjacent with the 1991 tracks!
I felt the Williams really should have won in 1991, but were dogged with reliability issues.
Proper pig slurrping tea smh
did you use dos box to play this?
@@pickle4474 I did! Specifically, "DOSBos Staging"
Tried this game just last week after Indycar Racing 2 rendition with DOSBox Rendition+Rendition wrapper. It could be very nice if only there's a way to set the video mode of this game higher than 320x200.
Riveting stuff
Great driving. I recently fired up F1GP Amiga version, the one that introduced me to to this series - I much prefer the PC port, but I have to admit that driving at 8FPS is a lot more nerve-wrecing than on PC with fluid 25FPS 🤣 I did completed the full season (50% race lenght and the difficulty one notch below Ace) and it was probably the best overall racing experience I've got to this day. That game is just timeless.
@@damsonn thanks! 😎 Timeless, it really is
@QuantumYouth Thankfully we have DOSBox on the PC so it's almost a joy to drive!
I liked the intro and menu screens better on the amiga version
@markduchey8785 yes the art was glorious
If I had £1 for every time I played this game when it came out, I would be living on a private island now.
@@banditalley9592 same! 😆
The tea got a good workout
@@jonnies always, couldn't race without it
Is there any sort of ffb ? If not I wouldn't touch it, I'm already bad enough with feedback and I'd rather not know how bad I'd be without.
@@Shenron67 no, no feedback at all!
Amazing detail for the time. Back when Indycars were awesome.
spoiler Nice win! Got a bit hairy at times!
This was a great track. I won it on Ace 100% race distance also, managed to lap the second place driver, twice haha You mentioned your "low powered March" The way the game works, every car the player chooses to drive will automatically have 716bhp, equal to that of the most powerful AI car, which I think was the Williams?
I have edited the Player BHP in an editor called, ArgEdit. I had 610 BHP
@thesimracer In that case, your win is even more sublime, well done.
What team was the all yellow with blue wing single car entry supposed to be?
@@alaricbragg7843 not sure, where did you see that?
@thesimracer I remember it when I played this game on the Amiga. It can't have been AGS - they were white in the game.
@@alaricbragg7843 Ah, I think the Coloni was yellow in the original?
@thesimracer No because they were blue and grey in the game.
@@alaricbragg7843 hmm I can't remember because I changed the colours. What about the Lambo team?
Who would be crazy enough to do 100% race distance? I would, and did, back in the day. With an analog joystick. Fun times.
This is such a great game, I used to play it almost every day back in the 90's. How were you able to set it up to work with a wheel and pedals?
@@mrmactknife by running it in "DOSBox Staging" it takes care of the wheel axis and whatnot.
What version of F1 GP are you playing and on what hardware i.e. original hardware or emulation?
F1GP v1.05 in DOSBox Staging 😎
Cheers. I'll have to get hold of it and see if I can remember the sections where you can cut corners/drive over the grass and save massive amounts of time per lap. 😉
I found on this game, if you max out the rear wing for the rain, you should go a lot better.
Interesting. I'll try that 👍
@ admittedly I was using an analogue joystick but it might still work.
WOW remember playing this on my Amiga, with a joystick 😂
Lol yeah about 10 fps
played this game as a 10yo. phoenix was my first ever boss
Do you have car damage completely disabled or just reduced? I wonder since I remember even a light touch of the wall bought at least ruin a front wheel.
@@armorgeddon Damage was off because of the wacky AI
Will you have damage on for next season? May be 15 or 20% length?
@@MrTrustafox oh yes damage was on in this season it just isn't very sensitive. Next time will be The 1992 F1GP Season Series, next week 😎
It’s good mate but we wanna see you turn the boost up and push the fuel window to the edge. Create some tension in the action.
Your car handling is good but definitely not optimising the fuel load or the gear ratios… you didnt even need to use 6th
My race engineer was not very good!
Gotta use better gearing so 5th comes into play
Great season, just need to start the 1994 season from the Gold Coast Australia in ICR1.
@@ronsmith6041 1994? in ICR1 you say? 🥴🥴🥴
