RVA…. Recognize MCV and that scene from anywhere
Hi! Was just wondering how come your not doing the remote work anymore? Was their reasons why? I am going to start remote working from home soon. I am excited and scared.
What kind of facility do you work at if not emergency or hospital?? Im interested in OR but I’m not really looking forward to those emergency surgery cases 😅
trocar
I interviewed for an operating room position. I received a job offer before the end of the interview and I’m waiting on a formal offer. I am very nervous about the change since I have been a bedside nurse for 14 years. I am nervous about the new skills that I am going to learn and seeing a whole new side of nursing also Ugly Love my second favorite of Colleen Hoover after it ends with us.
Hi I hope you are enjoying the OR I started the last month and it is very interesting. I went fresh out of school to the OR. Im still taking the period 101 course and going to simulations and I have 2 days at my site to observe and put in practice what I have learn. Im working M-F 7-3 because of the training which lasts 6-9 months. once you are comfortable in the role and pass your final test you can choose bet 3-12 shifts or 4- 10 hour shift.
Do you work 8, 10, or 12 hour days?
I’ve done all! Currently 4x10s (my least favorite 🫠) But as much as I love 12s there’s something about getting to leave at 3p on an 8 hour day that is lovelyyyy.
@@MikaelaWashington I've worked 8s and 10s as an ER aid. nvr 12s before. I have just been accepted to a new grad OR position in the hospital (8hrs) and I am excited -- i start in a month and have been binge watching youtube lol! I think working 5x a day and getting of at 3pm is worth it to me. better schedule for my outside/family life. thanks!
Lithotripsy!
Travel nurse in the OR as a scrub nurse? So you don’t do bedside care after surgery correct? Just at the surgical area where the procedures are performed?
pleasae make a video discussing how you learn so many different cases or get into a geeneral OR not just ortho or spine for example. i feel like doing general or would give alot more future oppurtuniites ...also the program you refer to is it a periop 101 program?
Hello, I am starting my nurse residency in a few weeks and I don't know what to expect. What advice would you give to a new nurse starting at the OR? What does a typical day look like? Resources you found helpful? Thank you in advance!!
Hi! congrats. Expect that it will be difficult. It is a steep learning curve for sure! Take a notepad and for every case, write the following, what type of procedure it is (incision and drainage, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, ORIF, Cystoscopy, etc.) then 1) what Equipment is used? (bovie, lap tower, C-arm, etc), 2) Position (supine, lateral, prone, lithotomy and the equipment used to set up that position) 3) Foley (usually a catheter is put in for ex-laps and other hardcore procedures) 4) Prep (iodine wash and paint or chloraprep) 5) Fluids (Normal Saline, Sterile water (bottle or bag), 6) Meds (marcaine, lidocaine, ancef). Thats the room setup for a circulator, the tech hands the instruments and drapes and sutures and other supplies (they do help with equipment too though) and 7) Cultures and Specimens (gallbladder, bile, uterus, Fallopian tube, kidney stones, etc). I take notes during a shift then after, I add them or update, to my Microsoft word document that I have where I keep everything organized and available in my phone for reference. Resources? AORN periop 101, coworkers, especially surgical techs (STs are a great resource to what is needed, where to find it, how it works, and pretty much everything else in the OR, appreciate your surgical techs). Typical day? show up and get your assignment for the day (usually about 4 cases), but there are add-ons. Research your pt (hx, procedure, consents (surgical, anesthesia, blood), and prepare the rooms, circulate, then transfer to PACU. So yeah, take notes for the cases, learn where everything is at, learn how to set up and troubleshoot equipment, don't forget to ground your pt with a grounding pad, stay in your lane!.. Honestly I've wanted to leave the OR many times because it can be quite difficult, there's a lot to learn and consider, and a lot of people I work with irritate me. But the more I do it and give effort, the easier it gets. I have a groove now which makes the job easier. I am now confident to spend more time in the OR and pick up overtime. The OR once you're good at it can be very lucrative because it gets easy, especially if you can work in Cali where we start at around 50/hr. Work a lot, pick up on-call, and put your money into a Roth IRA and Index fund lol :) You can start investing pretty well off the bat and have your money work for you. Also, there will be asshole doctors and coworkers, that's the nature of the beast, and the hardest part for me. But there are also some mellow sweethearts that I enjoy working with. Stick with it and adapt, the OR certainly beats bedside or critical care, or most other specialties imo, its a low-key gem of a specialty that is not talked about often. Take advantage
Happy NY! Love your videos! ❤ And your pink backpack you showed at the end, do you mind sharing where you got it? 😍
Happy NEW YEAR to you too!! 🤗🤗 And thank you. LOVE this bag. So many cute compartments too! I got it off Amazon. I’ll try to link it for you. Thanks for following along ♥️ a.co/d/aTW6QkJ
Great video! Happy New Year and thank you for your service! <3
Great update ❤ Was it hard for you to mentally transition from remote work back to the OR? I personally work remote now, && I want to start in the OR but SUPER nervous!
Hey Sabrina! It wasn’t hard to transition back. But that could be because OR was my first speciality and for the longest. What are you doing now for your remote position??
@@MikaelaWashington I work as a Coding Quality Analyst! This was my first job after passing boards & I slightly regret not getting any Hands-on nursing experience! I shadowed in the OR & love it! I’ve been in my role for 1 year.
Wow, missed you and your vlogs. What is new?, happy the life is treating you well. 💛🧡
Life is soo busy! But I’m so glad to be backkk! Merry Christmas!!
Merry Christmas to you too.
Great life's treating you well take care👍
ARE you MARiD ME iAM RAHMAX ❣️💍🌻💞👁️💯💅💘💍🖤🇵🇰🥰🥊☎️💘
I'm starting in the OR soon for my first day. I'm really nervous and I know this may be basic question but how do you know what you need for each surgery? IS it written somewhere or are you expected to know already?
Hey! You’ll learn as you go the more you work in each speciality and with each surgeon. BUT there’s also resources for sure! Between staff, your charge nurses, and preference cards created for each surgery and each doc. They’re super helpful!! Take a deep breath and know you’re not going to be alone, and you’ll also get an orientation time. Good luck!!
Watching this and every OR nurse video on youtube in preparation for my OR nurse fellowship lolol. Starting off in the OR as a new grad and I’m so excited😊
I guess some people don't understand they have the ability to skip around parts if they don't like it. But you do you girl! We appreciate your work in making these videos!
Stupid video. Stop talking about bs book.

I almost had a heart attack when you got close to the microscope 😂! I was thinking please don’t contaminate I don’t want to Redrape! (Like it was my room)
Your vows were very beautiful, just like you 2. Your both sooooo sweet. Congratulations ladies and many many years of love and happiness ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing 💕

I have that same cap! Love your videos ❤️
I am so happy I saw this today. I just started on L&D, not a new nurse, and feel like its not for me. I thought I would love it and this was where I should be. I applied for an OR position today hoping I get it.
Hey! I just started L&D too but as a new grad (almost off orientation). It definitely not what I thought it was and looking forward to apply to OR once I can. Glad I’m not the only one! Hope you got the job! 😃
I think this is what I want to go into. For so long I wanted to be a surgical tech but since I already have a bachelor's, it makes more sense to become a nurse at this point. I really like the idea of organized chaos and doing different tasks/never bored.
Did you?????????????
Did you when you Cut ✂️ her hair
Did you?????????????
Did you wash her hair backwards in the sink when you Cut ✂️ her hair
Was it fun??????????????
Great Job on her hair
I'm a critical care nurse moving into the OR soon. How bad is the burn out? I'm hoping it isn't as bad as the ICU, but I'm just unsure if I even want to stay in the profession long term.
Did you ever go into surgical?
@@His_ChristieRose I did. I'm currently at a level 1 facility in the south that trains both circulating and scrubbing.
@@CDGING awesome. I was thinking of PACU when I saw your ICU experience.
@@CDGINGhow do you like the OR and how long was the training?
@@nalaamour I'm really enjoying it. Orientation is right around six months.
How did you find this job? I have 7 year clinical experience as an RN and am having a hard time finding a remote nurse job. A lot of places are asking for case management experience. Does the job opening have to be in your licensed state?
Hey! Most companies it does not have to be in your licensed state BUT you do have to hold that state you will be “working” in license. As far as finding one join some Facebook groups, try the remote nurse websites job board. And the biggest thing I found that helped were the resources she has for resume building for specific keywords and job descriptions to make it past the bots lol. Hope that helps?
Did you join a Facebook group that made you pay for her “course” to find a remote nursing job? I’m skeptical
Hi! I was wondering if you had to do any clinical skil checks (like the skill checks you have to do when you want to become a cna) in order to be an OR Nurse
Hey! Definitely do! There’s so so much to learn for the skills sort of never end lol. With every new equipment piece, instrumentations, techniques. It’s always evolving. Some times I think more so than other specialities!
Thanks for sharing this I just started OR nursing 4th day of orientation and I’m a fresh new grad nurse everything is so different I kinda feel discouraged but I’m gonna stick with it and see how I like it.
Definitely stick with it! It takes 6-12 months to really feel like you even have a clue when it comes to OR nursing. Promise with time it’ll all click 🙂
After 44 yrs of theatre nursing, sooooo glad I’m now retired X
Hi💕 do you usually set up the room by yourself?
Usually it’s the whole team that’s in the room with you! Surgical tech, surgical assistant some times if you have one, and float staff IF they’re available lol
Currently binging all of your OR-related videos because I am starting my *DREAM* job in the OR next week, after years of bedside nursing. I love the enthusiasm you have for your job and that you kind of show us the ins and outs of your surgery center. Thank you for that! Please continue to make more of these videos, if you can :-)
AHHH!! Biggest Congrats! 👏🏽👏🏽 So happy for you to be away from bedside nursing! And thanks for watching my videos 🤍 Definitely plan to add more OR content from here on out 🤗
Trocar on robots
Yes!!! Finally someone guessed! 👏🏽👏🏽
where do you work at
I’m at a surgery center now a days!
Thank you for this video! I’m a soon to be new grad OR nurse starting on Valentine’s Day. I just have to pass my NCLEX (fingers crossed) on February 5th.
Omg congrats!! You’ll have to let me know how you like once you start. Good luck on your NCLEX! A few tips: Go with your first pick of THE BEST answer in the options, don’t create what isn’t in the scenario, and don’t study the day before! ☺️
GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS!! You GOT THIS!!! Take your time, BREATHE , and HAVE FAITH! Congratulations in advance XOXO
Thank you for this♥️. I hope to be an OR nurse, its so awesome to see first hand.
It’s the hidden spot in healthcare people does seem to get to see much. Happy to share as much as I can! More to come 🤗
What type of positive podcast do you listen to?
Some of the ones I listen here and there are Optimal Daily Living , Unf*ck Your Brain, and I love Rise & Conquer by Georgie Stevenson!! Comedy ones that are greattt are Shagged Married Annoyed, and Parental Guidance by Rose and Rosie 🤗🤗 Hope that helps. What are your favs!?
So did you leave the remote job?
Hey hey! Yes, for now! It was great to try especially during 2020. But I felt way to strapped to my computer. Plus it had mandatory OT every week. Definitely wasn’t the best work/life balance position for me. Are you currently doing a remote job??
@@MikaelaWashington HI! No, buy I did in the past for an insurance Co as LVN. And I struggled with those feelings and even became a lil depressed too.
big stuff
what stuff are you doing in sugrey
Hey! Currently at a specialized surgery center. We do a lot of urology and neuro surgery ☺️
love or stuff
