Majesty Fantasy Simulator. Blind playthrough. Fun RTS!
Переглядів 2155 років тому
Majesty was released in March of 2000. Marketed as a fantasy simulation the game looks and feels similar to other RTS of the time. One major exception, you have no direct control over your units. I explore and review the game in real-time as I complete the first level of teh campaign. If you were a fan of Majesty make sure you give the video a thumbs up to spread the game to other player's vide...

I'm currently converting the original module to 2e and your video has been very helpful. Thank you. 😉👍🏻
3:09:00 That snoring is so annoying.
😂😂 thanks for stopping by hope you found something useful
What a special party. I'm on a third of the way through, but if these goons survive, I'll be surprised. 😂
Glad you liked it. This dungeon always gets some great interactions
My boi, great post!
I used to hate this module with all my heart. This all changed after i got into playing fear and hunger. I think it was after that i finally understood the appeal.
Good run through of the story, thanks in particular for highlighting the shortcomings and points of difficulty with character decisions.
So many claimed they just burned it down and if so their DM failed to actually read the module.
Much of your concern about the lack of story was that the G-series were originally tournament games. So you didn't extensive set ups...
One of the things I did while GM'ing this Adventure, was actively restock the complex with new monsters after they cleared them out the first time around.
I put a plot hook for Dungeon of the Mad Mage in Iarno’s study. It detailed the wizards ambition to gain power and items from Undermountain. I had it where the notes could not be deciphered until an NPC figured it out which was not until they finished Lost Mines so that the lure of Undermountain would not over shadow the Forge of Spells. It worked out really well. Campaign has been going for 2 years. The players are taking a break from undermountain to go through White Plume Mountain. I found your White Plume Mountain video also helpful. You make good, concise content!
I appreciate the compliment. Your campaign sounds pretty epic. White plume is very fun. The lava escape tube was my favorite if your party can find it
Well in answer to your question of did he expect characters to do X. Yes, yes he certainly did. It was a different age and his attitude was a little different than what we have today.
Thank you for this
Very good. Especially liked flowchart and tables.
Thanks, happy to help. May your adventures be long, and your party not be totally killed 😜😜
19:52 I played this mod & we unleashed all of the encounters at the same time. Absolute chaos.
Why play this module? What is the funny?
It’s a piece of history and if you complete it, bragging rights
Watch8ng this gave me a great idea on how to work this not only into a campaign but make it the end goal. An entite campaign designed to slowly equip and prepare the players to take on the tomb. Info, magic items, maybe even small detailed maps of areas of the dungeon
That sounds like the best way to approach it, a few quests that unlock some key clues, then the final test to put them all together
Decided to run with your top down suggestion because I agree that starting at the bottom doesn't make a lot of sense! Thanks for your helpful tips, there really isn't a lot out there on how to run this one.
I make the first room to be a fight between kobold, goblin and twigh bliths, subtly tell the players there are 3 factions here. Based on the survivor and players choice, they may gain access directly to goblin site. Either way they will give the pc quest to slay or rescue the white dragon.
I like that idea. I've played with the idea of a goblin centric campaign using this module to have players join a goblin clan. The logic is there.
If you're getting a TPK every time, you're throwing too much at the party. They're supposed to have a reasonable chance and a 100% failure rate doesn't seem reasonable to me.
If you reward them, even if small, for checking every nook and cranny then they will check all the things. Even if it’s a silver spoon worth 3gp
You are missing SO much great content by not running the entire Queen of the Spiders super-module. It's even better than the Giants (but well set up by it).
The 5e conversion for the drow modules that follow the giant modules are on DM's Guild.
Good tip, thanks for sharing.
What an idiotic take on this module. "First off, I started from the wrong side. But let me refer to everything in reverse order." Great job, bro. Also, the pronunciation of the module is literally spelled out for you in the book.
Ha! I’m the 1000th subscriber.
🥳🥳🥳
I'm preparing to run this for my group and this video has been an AMAZING resource. Thanks for taking the time to put this together.
How'd it go?
@@gimpzilla it went pretty well. My players loved it! Thanks again for the work you put in.
Unless the shield are made of lead detect magic would work just fine. Steel shields are like sheet metal thick. Wooden shields aren’t even a full inch
I’ve never listened to you before. It really sounds like you are used you players who don’t work very hard and aren’t adventurous Search everything leave no stone or board unturned. Always attempt to play monsters against each other especially recruit and free slaves. It’s why you have persuasion! As far as the teleportation circle. Supposedly they are an adventuring party! Not very adventurous if they won’t go through the circle ready to blast what ever they find !
Seems like a level 3 dungeon, will put it before the CR15 encounter
Coming in late, but I really appreciate this content. I've only been DMing for about a year and some change now. I'm still getting my legs, so to speak. This was a great video.
You really just need temples of Krolm and their rage. The only exception are the maps with dragons where you need the skeletons from the priestesses.
Thanks for a great video. Very helpful commentary.
Great advice! Thank you for the video!
Man, this channel is crazy helpful
The railroad bit at the beginning was because of the initial use of the module as a tournament bit. Players were using issued characters, and it was understood that they were to get down to business.
Room 1, etc all are "trying" to distract pcs. Meanwhile, the slow poison is working on them. This module is a punishment/training for parties who waste time.
good review just wish you stuck to how it was done and not your own twist I just want to see how its run normal
It's not the DMs job to get TPK
While I agree with this in general, I think of these tyse of dungeons, especially when played as a one shot, as a test of the player and their own ability to get their character through the session. Players should know going in that this is likely unsurvivable. Have each player make two characters if doing a one shot as a backup. Think of it like video games, some games hold the players hand and have a false sense of urgency. Other games expect the player to figure it out. Doesn't make either better than the other.
The one piece I regret not mentioning in the video is the Volcano escape exit; using the cognizant weapon to guide the players. All my runs were one shots and the TPK was appropriate. Commonly one member may escape, either through blink or the hatch.
I played this in First Edition as a kid in the 70-80’s and it was incredibly fun. Gary was a genius, and this trilogy was very fun and kept us playing every week. We were blown away when it lead us into the Underdark, and the city of the drow, with the Vault of the Drow. Others have commented, but it’s pronounced stead-ing as in ‘head’. Her name is pronounced E-clavdra. Keep going, you can only get better.
Would love to see some more walk thrus.....Possibly Dung of the Mad Mage
I am running it now. Had the player characters magically teleported by a wild mage who appealed to the cosmos for heroes. They set a recon of the Steading first, and stalked and killed some small hill giant raiding parties departing from their base. The characters met some of the local villages being raided, and made some friends. They did a good job of sneaking around and finding good tactical opportunities for combat. They are heading downstairs next. Good review!
15:03 on the single encounter falling flat thing. It was expected to play 1e in real to time, with players forced to leave a dungeon at the end of a section and can only recover in a town. Paired with random monsters each hour to keep the party moving, dungeons were ment to be a gauntlet of attraction, to get out before the end of the session (and also a race to clear out all the treasure before the dm’s other group dose as collecting money was the only way to gain exp, and west Marches was the default way to play).
This dungeon was originally a weekend one-shot for a dnd convention, but it's hard to find information on exactly how much time was dedicated to playing. Adding additional stress on the timing of the dungeon would definitely increase monster difficulty. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the heads up on room 8, I was reading the adventure recently and I was scratching my head.
Love the overview of the storyline and how you point out where potential hooks can go. Thanks!
Conjure Elemental. Con (Kahn) Jerr. There is not "ginger elemental"
St-ee-ding? Really. The word is pronounced so as to rhyme with head not need.
Exactly, as in homestead.
hello plz teach me
I’m currently running this module. I’m concerned that my players are going to get combat fatigue playing it, but this is the conundrum with 5e and the lack of tier 3 adventures. Other observations: none of the exterior doors are locked! My party went in through the east door and funnelled the dire wolves, killing them outside the compound. Also, the secret doors are crude so only a perception of 12 (or a passive 15) is needed to spot them.
1. Wizards. 2... Nope, still wizards, sorry.
GDQ (somewhat modified) will be an option in the world build I am finishing. D-Q sections quite modified but the Gs just need good DMing. I liked the bare bones modules, map roster, locations...GO!
It is a little disappointing from a dwarven treasure point of view. This one reminds me a little of Caverns of Thracia or Dark Tower as a sandbox dungeon, just not as big. Nice Review. Always Love a Dragon. Its in the name . Swimming.
