Why are you grids flat when you open your filter? When I opened my filter, the grids were filled with water and I couldn't pull the whole unit out, since the grids were bloated.

What do you do if the top manifold won’t come off from the stand pipe?

Ken, thanks for the video. However, I am still trying to figure out a solution to take off the impeller. In the video, when you take off the cover, there's an easy solution for you -- an Allen wrench. On mine, however, there's just a giant slot that goes across. I tried to put a screwdriver in and spin it but it will not budge as there's not enough torque on the back end. Does ANYONE have a solution for this? I've been trying to fix this thing for the past week and I'm ready to toss it out and fill in my pool at this point. I have a IntelliFlo VS+SVRS

What should the GPM be for commercial pools in California?

Why not just replace the one small o-ring on the stem that you didn't replace with other 3 ? Way cheap than replacing whole piston for owner.

My techs don't use lube on the oring.....just clean it well and put it on...but, if you are gonna use lube...use the Red Magic Lube!!!!

Backwashing should be done prior to starting the procedure. This will help to remove some (hopefully most) of the DE prior to starting. The one grid was not properly locked in place, it was away from his sight of view but obvious on the camera side. These filters are a pain to work on and more time consuming than the 4 in one. Nice video overall, got my thumbs up.

The one I worked on did not have Allen wrench. It had a place for screw driver. Very hard almost impossible to get off.

Why can't i touch the Whiteside of impeller by rare hand? If my pump won't prime, is it means that the impeller need to be replaced?

8 feet deep in deep end and 3 feet deep in shallow end wouldn’t be 5.5 in average?

where do i get the replacement kit? for impeller?

I have a question for you. I have the same DE filter I'm trying to find replacement filters there's two different types. one is wider and then one is shorter The wider one is model number fg-1005. I don't know what is the model # for the shorter one. In your video at the 3 min 34 sec mark you place the larger one back- then the last one is not as wide at the 3 min 40 second mark you place the smaller one. I wonder what that part number is? Would you know. Thanks

Yours was the 2nd one i was watching to make sure i will get it right before replacing the pool bulb, i was under the impression it was broken. but i learnt from you to check the GFI before replacing the bulb! Thank you for the tip. it bought me lots of hassle, since GFI was popped and that was why the bull was not working. your instructions were certainly useful. Thank you.

Very good video- solved the mystery of how the remote is wired. Shocked at the cost of the remote device. I covered the remote with a cup when not in use to protect the rubber touch pads from the sun -lasted 5 yrs. I will definitely get the new version where the wire plugs into the remote device. Thanks POOL POSSE

Thank You! I did it this weekend following your instructions. I bought the remote and wire on eBay for $225 and saved the pool company markup and labor! Wrapped about 2 feet together tight with electrical tape and lubes with seal/gasket lube. Pulled easily after that. Remember to thread the faceplate through to position the two piece remote before pulling! (I remembered ) But one could easily forget. Leave about 2 feet slack with new wire inside box for next time. My first remote lasted about 7-1/2 years.
